A great pub/restaurant in a convenient location. Polite and friendly staff, good food and drink selection.

Three star rating for ambience given due to it being a Tuesday night when there weren't many patrons in and hence a little quiet. Will reconsider after we visit on a busier night. Luckily I had the most pleasant dining companion and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening here.

Wow what can I say...Best meal out I have had in a long time. I was there for my hen party...table decorated beautifully...staff were friendly and helpful and the food was really very very good. Thank you One Bull

Everything about this pub was spot on at my first visit. I booked the table at the last moment online. Super quick and easy. When we arrived (a table of four) we were quickly seated and our drinks were ordered. After that we never felt rushed through our appetisers, the English asparagus and salt & pepper squid, or through our dinner. We all ordered the roast sirloin of beef. The roast dinner was one of the best I have had, EVER! We will definitely be returning as I have already booked our table.

Excellent food, wine and service. I had two starters and my husband had a starter and main. The cod cheek scampi was particularly good, we also chose mussels, kofta and a lamb burger. Everything was beautifully cooked and presented. Extensive wine list with lots of interesting wines by the glass, carafe or bottle. Good value for money, we really enjoyed it and will definitely return.

We enjoyed a Mother's Day roast dinner, the quality of the food was excellent. Service was good and it was a nice experience.

Staying in Bury St. Edmunds whilst on a course. Visited The One Bull 2 nights running due to it being outstanding the first night. 2 staff members on - Sam and Becky. Dining out alone as a female in a new place can sometimes be intimidating to some. Sam and Becky made me feel welcome and relaxed from walking through the door. Greeted me as soon as eye contact was made with a smile and a friendly demeanour. The first night I was thankful for them finding me a quiet spot to work from as I had some paperwork to catch up with. It was then no problem for me to move to a ‘proper’ table to eat. Being a chef myself I can be a little picky when it comes to eating out - I like and expect good standards. With a daily changing specials menu alongside a small but perfectly considered main menu I needn’t have worried. First night I had garlic butter focaccia bread, bacon chop and sticky toffee pudding from the main menu. Tonight I’ve had duck from the specials menu followed by eton mess. All delivered in generous portions, perfectly presented by very well trained and attentive staff. Compliments to the chef and kitchen team - the food is full of flavour and perfectly cooked. Good to meet Dave the owner at the bar tonight also to express my thanks and high praise for Sam and Becky. Did I mention they also brew their own beers and have an extensive but well chosen wine list? All available to buy from their shop next door! I will definitely be returning here if I need to come to Bury St.Edmunds for any other reason. If I could give you 10 stars I would! A huge well done to The One Bull team!

Really friendly and nice staff, lovely atmosphere. I really enjoyed our food and there was a wide selection of professionally made food on the menu.

Primarily tempted to try this lovely pub because it is dog free, we were surprised and then wowed not just by the friendly staff, the light and airy atmosphere, but then by the delicious home cooked food that arrived at our table. I had the scrumptious Chicken Caesar on Wooster's focaccio while my hubby thoroughly enjoyed his chicken and leek pie - as the menu describes it 'Proper Food'! We'll be back soon!

We had a lovely meal here. I had pork belly with korean bbq sauce which was really tasty and a sticky toffee pudding sundae which was also very good. Our waitress (didn't get her name but she had a blonde ponytail) was really friendly and the perfect level of attentative. My partner had schnitzel which he wasn't too fussed with but his caramel tart dessert was good.

One of the best pubs/eateries in BSE. Top quality ale, more expensive than Wethspoons but well worth the extra. Great food served by excellent staff. Overall a lovely visit.

We all enjoyed our lunch here today, we always go to the One Bull when we’re back visiting family in Suffolk. We’ve had many lovely meals there over the years, the food’s always great and the staff are lovely.

The menu has clearly labelled vegetarian options. The coronation chickpea focaccias I had were gorgeous. There’s a really good wine list too. They brew their own beer and one of us loves the beer here!

The One Bull’s nice and airy and I like that the windows look out into the old Abbey Garden walls at the back. It’s a nice place to go for food.

Really saved our night. Called in here after having a poor experience somewhere else. We were served by Becky who was absolutely amazing, couldn’t have done more for us. And the food was delicious. This place has quickly become one of our favourites. Thanks so much!

This place is a great place to relax. Their cheese platter on Sundays is just the right amount for an in between snack for two. Hayden has been our bartender both times we’ve been here and already knows our names and drinks. He is also a great source of conversation and is always letting us rely on his local area expertise.
