An absolute jewel of a find!
It's only just re-opened under new management and the quality and presentation of the food is something you'd find in a michellin starred establishment (but without the michellin starred price tag!)
Atmosphere was great and our hosts/the management very friendly & welcoming. Whilst this was our 1st visit, it seemed that the rest of the clientele were all returning visitors (which is a pretty good endorsement when you've only been open 3 weeks!)

Lovely country inn ,was made welcome as soon as we walked in was cosy and warm ,cute little bar, then tables otherside of the bar, excellent service, the food was delicious, broccoli and cheese soup to start ,gammon, 2 eggs and chips with peas ,then Lovely trillionares tart ,was a 2 for £20 night on a Wednesday and worth every penny paid ,Thursday is pie night ,vegetarian options ,my partner had steak with chips salad and onion rings and he loved it ,to start he had chicken wings and they were delicious, can definitely recommend the cottage tavern for a nice quiet meal 😀

Not trying to be something it's not, this place does it really well. Simple, but tasty, and great value pub food. Friendly, helpful staff. Regular theme nights sound like they go down well too.

We finally made it back here now it's under new management for a Sunday lunch.
Yummy! Lots of well cooked food and very tasty. Our dog Molly even got a little bowl of cut up sausage to eat!
Service was excellent too.

Outstanding food, very friendly service, excellent selection of beers and great prices. Highly recommend The Cottage Tavern. UPDATE: we've just gone for Sunday roast for the first time since the new owners have taken over and the food was delicious! The portions are huge so make sure you're hungry! Looking forward to our next visit.

We had a birthday meal here this evening. Proper home cooked food, that is hard to find nowadays.
It was so very enjoyable. There were about 30 of us and they did us a buffet with a large chicken pie, peas and (proper) chips. They also did a vegetarian hotpot, a lovely salad and there was apple crumble and custard and ice cream. It was beautifully cooked and a massive amount. Very pleasant family home cooked meal. Well done you’ve done such a great job since taking over.

Can't recommend this lovely little pub enough, our first visit and will definitely be going back. Food was amazing, even though the menu is not vast, this isn't necessarily a bad thing as what is available is quality. Our hosts were warm and welcoming, can't wait for the winter when hopefully the log burner will be on making for an even cosier evening

We were there for my best friends funeral, the service was so friendly and the buffet was excellent, tasty and lots of it, would certainly recommend to family and friends

What a fantastic place. Welcoming and friendly staff. Definitely well set up re covid. The food was great and the steak my husband had was perfectly cook to his liking. A pub I would recommend to everyone.

Best meal we have had for a long time. Excellent home made food and excellent choice for both meat eaters and vegetarians Staff and Landlady extremely friendly. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back soon

A really good, slow cooked brisket of beef for Sunday lunch, with proper homemade gravy, roasties and veg. Small, medium and large portions available and very reasonably priced. A nice old pub with courtyard garden and a small bar with great beer. Will return.

A lovely little pub, excellent service and drinks selection. Stayed for dinner, and had some of the best chips I have ever tasted. Already looking forward to my next visit...

Took some friend's there today and we were all blown away by the fantastic quality of the food and how it was presented, also how the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was to much, will definitely be going again, and a big thank you to Tim and Carl see you soon.

Amazing! Service was fantastic, food was delightful. Location was very quaint, the one thing to bare in mind is parking is on the road but we had no issues!

What a Great little Tavern, Tim & his partner bought the tavern back in June last year gave it a bit of TLC and it's great, we loved it and the meal we had was great to highly recommend it to anybody but that's what we think but you decide it's only your opinion 👍🏻

Superb quiz evening with sumptuous food and fine ales. Will be returning very soon. Highly recommended! Been here several times now. Almost my local (an hour away!)

Friendly & efficient service. A nice pint of stout, cider and larger. Good wine menu. Small outside seating area. A pleasant drink.

Great, lively village pub. Good Sunday roast(s) with heaps of vegetables and lashings of proper gravy. Warm and pleasant environment; a good stop on a walk or a relaxing evening out.
