Best cycle shop in Cambridge. This probably isn't the place for people with top of the range bikes, but is perfect for keeping commuter bikes, average workhorse bikes, new or old on the road, which is essential for Cambridge travel. And all for very good prices and with cheerful service. Very trustworthy place.

Bought a new bike from here in April and have so far been satisfied with it. Yesterday he tightened my front brake pads, replaced my rear brake pads, and oiled my chain---all for only £2

Colin was so helpful and kind! I searched for a suitable bike for aaaages — he had two that fit and let me try them out for a good hour in total 😅
I ended up getting an ideal second hand bike for a pretty fair price, so I’m very happy.

Looking to buy my first bike in Cambridge, the owner of University Cycles sold me a beautiful, very nice vintage bike for a very reasonable price. Today when I had an accident and needed a repair, the owner was immediately helpful and kind and sorted it in less than an hour. Incredibly efficient and great service! The best bike shop in Cambridge!

Peerless. Ask around - you will never hear a single bad word about Colin and his shop. I bought my wife's bike here along with our child-carrying trailer and Colin couldn't have been more helpful. What a lovely chap! I always buy my spares here as the prices are insanely cheap. He also offers the cycle to work scheme. If you are looking for a reasonably priced ride and unmatched customer service then look no further.

Amazing. Visited the shop and right away got impressed with the range of bikes Colin deals with. Amazing person providing amazing service and advise at an amazing price. Easy simple and despretentious shop and seller. Colin knows his deal. Looking for a Dutch kinda bike or similar it's here. Go nowhere else. For first time visit and purchase I'm from now on a regular customer. Highly recommended place. Best in Cambridge.

I bought my first bike here yesterday and the owner (Colin) was so patient and helpful. The shop is brilliant -- stuffed full of new and second hand bikes, and bits of bikes, and salvaged odds and ends. On both my visits there was a constant stream of visitors popping in for a chat, or to borrow a saddle, or to use the pump. Colin has a great line in dry humour, too! I shall be a customer for life!

You will never find any other bike shops better than this one. The owner is super nice. If you are restoring your vintage bike, the shop is more like an antique store, you’ve gotta find your own treasure. Ps: Found my favourite brooks seat this morning.

Assertive owner who was clear that he would service only bikes that he sold.

I dropped by hoping to get my bike gears fixed. He firmly and politely stated that he would only service bikes from his shop because of time constraints.

He signposted me to other shop and I think that is a very honest way to do business.

Of course I left with my bike unfixed, but I was happy to learn that this shop is doing responsible business.

I bought my bike from Colin 5 years ago. He didn't try to sell me the most expensive one he could. In fact he convinved me to get a cheaper one that would suit my needs better. Since then he has given me outstanding service. I don't really see how he makes any money, because he always sells me things at near to cost price, and hardly charges anything for labour. Sadly I have moved away from Cambridge and I doubt I will find such a good bike shop anywhere else!

This is the only bike shop I ever go to these days. I'm often in need of bike parts for a variety of different types of cycles and Colin nearly always has exactly what I'm after and at a superb price. In the past he's also been very kind and helpful, removing freewheels when I couldn't and showing me tricks to help me fix a problem.

He also sells a wide range of bicycles from Dutch-style city bikes to lightweight road bikes.

University cycles is an old-fashioned-style shop in the best possible sense, full of stock (parts as well as bikes) - a real Aladdin's Cave of wonders and Colin's knowledge is second to none.

This is certainly the best bike shop in Cambridge, The owner knows his stuff, gives good advice and is very friendly. He doesn't try and sell you expensive stuff but makes sure you get what you need. Good service and good prices too.

Great range of bike baskets at a very reasonable price. I bought a beautiful and strong basket (I was asked to stand on the top of the basket to check how good it was!) for a good price! I was not charged to have it put on the bike! I was really happy and strongly recommend the shop to anyone that needs a bike basket!

Colin is the best, most helpful, thoughtful person I have ever met in any shop of any kind. Simply a great guy who happens to have bikes for sale.

Ridiculously cheap and helpful. I bought a gear cable here for 50p that was £3 in Halfords. Half the time when I just need a mudguard bracket or similar, he just picks one off the floor and gives it to me for free! I can't see how he stays in business. Couldn't recommend him highly enough.

Support your local bike shop and restore your faith in humanity!

The other day on my way home from work my chain snapped, potentially leaving me stranded. I wasn't far from University Cycles and so I popped in on the off -chance. They very quickly took out the broken link and repaired the chain. I was back on my way inside ten minutes and able to make my next appointment.

How much did they charge? I'm not going to say, but it was extremely reasonable.
