What a little gem. Utterly charming with great hall and gallery, and staircase leading up to room with 14th century painting of the Angel Gabriel by what was once an ornate window.

Fiddleford Manor is one of those perfectly formed places that are a joy to visit. Just off the A357 to Sturminster Newton this English Heritage site has car parking and is open from to 10-4pm each day, with free entry. The path to the manor can get very muddy so be prepared.
The manor is small but had a number of interesting features including wall paintings, gallery and superb roof timbers. There are good information boards dotted about which illustrate the original extent of the house and also what lies next door where the house becomes a private property.
The River Stour runs behind the site and adds a wonderful backdrop to the house. Don't miss this if you are in the area.

Lovely Manor House. There is a nice walk from the car park turn left then left again and continue through what looks like next doors property and you come to 2 bridges over water and a sign to Sturminster Newton 1/14 miles.

Best spot in the river Stour for a swim. Good for kids too. My kids came with life jackets just in case but they absolutely loved it. Second visit this week.

Lovely little pub, the staff are so friendly, and is lovely to see they welcome dogs. They have a beautifully kept garden area to, so sit in the sun when there.

Steeped in history this Manor house. Quiet surroundings and a good starting point for further walks. Nearby trailway is recommended. You can either take the short walk towards Sturminster Newton, or go the opposite direction and walk towards Blandford Forum, passing Shillingstone and Stourpaine. Some lovely scenery.
