Beautiful library with friendly helpful staff. Great activities for children and the community. The recycled art workshops, shows with Spark Arts, Space Centre activities to name a few things my children and I have enjoyed.
Or just a quiet, dry place to browse books, newspapers and the internet.

Built in 1939. The architects, Symington Prince and Pyke have several other buildings in Leicester including a very similar library in St Barnabas Road. Possibly influenced by the Central Library in Stockhom or Arnos Green tube station in London?. It's situated at the junction of Saffron Lane and Glenhills Blvd, The roundabout is known as Porkpie Island after this library. Grade II listed building.

Visited this library for the first time today and it was fab. Great things in place for covid protection such as track and trace, book quarantine and lots of sanitiser around. I needed to register myself and my daughter and the lady who did it for us was great and really helpful. Can't wait for out next visit.

I love the library, l use to use it all the while, but then l became housebound, just phoned and asked if my son could pick some books for me, .They said yes, how good is that for service. ItsI a good place for peace and quite while you work on computers as well. If you need help they are there for you. Brilliant!

The Pork Pie library was built in 1939. It is a Grade II listed building, which was originally designed by local architects Symington Prince and Pyke, it bears a striking resemblance to the St Barnabas Road library in Leicester. Both buildings were thought to have been influenced by the Central Library in Stockholm and Arnos Green Tube Station in London.

My memories of it stem from living nearby, down the Wigston Lane and walking up the hill to borrow and return books in the 1950’s.

So happy to use the library again. Plenty of safety measures in place, self scan, hand sanitiser everywhere. Well done Pork Pie library
