What an incredible place! We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and we had the most enjoyable stay. We were greeted instantly with friendly staff who made us feel so welcome. The drinks in the pub were lovely and the food was amazing. The rooms are beautiful and we will definitely return! Thank you so much!

Sunday roast. They found us a table in bar area so we could bring our dog in. Outside patio is lovely to sit at too as the road in front is not busy and you get view of church opposite. I had roast pork and it was so well cooked. Local IPA beer too! Good service too . Looking forward to our next visit!

I stayed for 1 night on business. A 16th century pub located in a quite area, opposite a church. Parking is limited but not an issue.
The rooms were purposely dated to suit the time period it was built, which gave it a comfortable feel and aesthetic. The food was fast and alright quality. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Fantastic food & drink and ambience. We will definitely be back! Shere Brewery is a great beer; kids food excellent (as is the rest of it - lots of effort). Four stars for location as parking availability a little hit and miss due to its popularity!

We visited this lovely village pub/restaurant for curry night on Tuesday. Their usual menu was also available and offers a good range of modern and classical dishes. They also have steak nights too. The food was really tasty and the service and friendliness of staff could not be beaten. The Running Horses is situated in the lovely picturesque village of Mickleham which is close to Dorking and Box Hill. There is plenty of outside seating - perfect for those warm sunny days/evenings - and the bar area inside is quaint and welcoming with a cosy atmosphere. We look forward to returning again soon.

We came here for lunch after visiting Boxhill School and wow this is such a stunningly beautiful pub. The atmosphere is rustic, modern, feline with the fired floral details and the food was very good. If we were in the area again we would come again.

Amazing pub been back twice already. Proper village pub with a lovely roaring fire. Very cosy. It appears to be popular and has a lovely separate restaurant area. The Sunday roasts looked generous. Didn't see anything other than empty plates. Will go back and try out the food for sure. No pub parking - you have to park on the road. If you are desperate to go get here early, so you can find a space. It is popular with walkers and cyclists as Box Hill is nearby.

Stopped for dinner on a Sunday evening. Team must have been tired after a long service, but everyone was welcoming and friendly. The roasts were great and there was a good range of delicious desserts. Would definitely recommend.

Dropped in for lunch. Excellent food freshly made with no corners cut. Lovely pub, traditional, clean with excellent service. Nothing negative to say.

We enjoyed an excellent dinner at The Running Horses. It is a beautiful old country pub in Mickelham, full of character with a lovely dining room through the back where we had our meal. The food and the service were excellent and we look forward to our next visit.

The Running Horses is an excellent old coaching Inn (name is a bit of a give away) tucked into the shadow of Box Hill. Easy to find just off the A24 at Mickleham but not so easy to park. A fine selection of beers and a good lunchtime menu. A little pricey but the good food, service and atmosphere more than made up for it. £15 for a chicken club sandwich. It was full and very tasty. Open log fires in the winter and ample seating outside in the sun in the summer.

WHAT A REVELATION!!!!
The cost of eating out has become pretty much prohibitive now, and sadly, the quality and quantity of dishes served has generally diminished by the same amount as prices have risen.

On a whim we decided to treat ourselves to dinner last night at The Running Horses, accepting we'd be disappointed.

What a fantastic surprise to be serviced by lovely people, we ordered the cod loin main course - every item on that plate was cooked perfectly and hot. Yes, it was £20 each, but absolutely worth every penny. So much so, we had desserts, and they were not the pub standard dessert, but creative, beautifully presented and didn’t disappoint at all.

I haven’t enjoyed a meal out as much for as long as I can remember.
Are we going back again, abso-***ing-lutely!

Meeting up with some very dear friends at the The Running Horses at Mickleham was made a very enjoyable occasion with the service we received and an excellent meal, we loved the location and would have no hesitation in giving a recommendation.

If you looking for a great quality pub, with good food, good service and the Running Horses is as good a place as any. We had a lovely family lunch to celebrate our Mum as it was a favourite of hers.

Ate outside on a sunny day. Quiet place to relax. I have a shy dog, so they gave us a table in the corner. The food was good and the service was friendly.

Busy, but the food is good. Take your walking shoes as across the road there are miles of fabulous walks to Box Hill and Headly Common. One of my favourite dog walking areas, absolutely stunning scenery.

The Running Horses really is the best pub in Surrey, and beyond. Great atmosphere, a drinkers pub, as well as setting the right tone and atmosphere for exceptional food. Perfect for a post walk drink, casual lunch with kids, or a special occasion. There attention to detail and efforts to cater for food intolerances is where most pubs fall short, but the guys here make sure everyone feels welcome, and they make it easier for themselves by making dishes suitable for those with and without allergies etc....gluten free batter as standard for example, always vegan and veggie options. And it's NEVER a compromise.

With wood fires, comfortable seating, and accommodating dogs, the addition of good ale this place has the ability to make you feel at home. This was a great find and one we'll be visiting when we're down in March
