We dropped in on the off chance for lunch, having been many times before. Although it was busy we got lunch and a couple of drinks. We both had the burgers, with chips and a side salad. This is purely a personal preference but the burger buns were very soft and 'bready', which is not our prefered style, but it was only a minor issue. The rest of our meals were fantastic. Seated outside, the service was still excellent, attentive without being in our faces and all the staff seemed unable to stop smiling despite it being a very busy shift
This dog-friendly pub even has dog treats on the bar....could not ask for more.

Very reasonably priced and some good additions to the usual pub menus . My chicken skewers with thin frys and a salad was delicious and fleshly cooked to order. Pleasant staff and surroundings. Definitely worth a trip out for lunch

Was quiet, late lunch in January, but friendly, good service, good food - particularly the chips!
Suspect it will be very busy in the summer, with some nice outside seating.

The pub is currently undergoing a refurbishment and should look great once finished. We booked ahead and were the only people dining on the night we were there. The staff were very friendly and chatty which we liked. The food was very good and well cooked. They also have a good selection of beers. I recommend their own local beer. We will definitely visit again after the renovations are completed.

Pub opened early on Boxing Day for the Rutland Morris Mummer's Play. The beer was good, the coffee was excellent. I can't speak for the food not having sampled it but atmosphere, with a cosy log burner going, was safe and welcoming.

Stayed on camping field and had a meal. Would have been even nicer if the grass was cut and because we had a meal a reduced price on staying. Just a suggestion.
Dog friendly. Great staff.

First class

Now I know these reviews can seem to be made up. But I'm camping about 30 mins walk away, just me and my dog, it's a lovely evening and you could not wish to happen on a nicer pub. I sat outside because I had the dog and this pub was very popular for their food but in turns out they do except dogs in a part of the pub. It was a lovely evening so I stayed out side and sampled a couple of real ales which touched the spot. I could not fault the experience. The bar staff were faultless.

Very welcoming, and filled with locals, cyclists and walkers. Good array of beers, and they still stock grapefruit juice for us non drinkers! The food is also top notch. And plenty of it
