Akhi indian restaurant

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant on a Saturday evening. Despite my last-minute request for a reservation, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, managing to secure a table for my party at 8pm.

The service throughout the evening was impeccable, with the wait staff displaying a genuine warmth and attentiveness. They went above and beyond by offering a few suggestions from the menu, which greatly enhanced our dining experience.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the top-quality food. Although the portion sizes initially appeared small, they proved to be sufficient for our party of three. We were delighted to sample an assortment of different curries, each bursting with flavor and expertly prepared.

If I were to make a minor suggestion, it would be to consider slightly larger portions of rice to accompany the curries. Nonetheless, the staff were exceptionally accommodating, ensuring that our culinary preferences were catered to.

Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant, particularly for curry enthusiasts in the Lake District and its surrounding areas.

From their friendly and accommodating service to the delightful array of flavorsome dishes, this establishment offers a memorable dining experience that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning palate.

While staying at a local campsite, I ordered a takeaway for delivery online. Consequently,
I can’t specifically comment on the Atmosphere rating.
Having seen some fairly negative reviews on Google Maps, I was a bit apprehensive. However, I needn’t have worried. The food was delivered a bit earlier than stated, which is always welcome, and the delivery driver was very pleasant. The food itself was really tasty and nice and hot. (For the record, the meals I ordered were a Lamb Jalfrezi and a Chicken Tikka Samber. Both excellent.)
Based on my experience, I heartily recommend the Akhi and I would certainly be very happy to order from this restaurant again. Great service. Many thanks.
Re the Atmosphere rating, as said, I didn’t eat in the restaurant, however, I didn’t want to leave a bad rating because of that. So, since I was absolutely delighted with all other aspects of the service, I’m giving it a 5 star rating, too, since I can’t imagine it being any less good.

Spent a weekend away and decided to eat here for the last night. Can honestly say the customer service was absolutely brilliant, such attentive staff. It has a nice and cosy atmosphere too. The food came nice and warm and it was delicious. Portion sizes are nice and big too, look forward to visiting again in the future!

Superb food and service. My husband and myself are regular customers. Always consistent on freshness. Very highly recommended.

Away on holiday staying locally, googled take away and this one was closest to us. We had 2x chicken tikka masala with pilua rice and peshawari nann. We ordered and were told approximately 15 minutes. We went for a little stroll and when we returned our food was ready. We had approximately 5 miles to travel back to our accommodation and the food was still lovely and hot. The taste was amazing. The service within the restaurant was professional and friendly. We were alsi very happy with what we paid for our food. I would 100% recommend takeaway from Akhi. I can not comment on eating in, nor the atmosphere.

Ate here earlier this evening - chicken madras is superb nice and spicy and tasty with it - my wife had the paneer dansak and loved it - paneer v fresh - had mixed tandoori starter for 2 - excellent

We had a take out from here whilst staying over night on a mini moon. We were able to order via the website for a specific time to be deliver as the place was closed.

Really easy to order and use the site. No fuss. Food arrived 3 mins before alloted time by a very pleasant bloke.

The food was divine!!!! Nothing minor to complain about and would really recommend this place. Food was hot and clean (no dripping grease), bhaji's and poppadoms were crispy, and the massage and saag paneer full of flavour.

Will visit again if we are in the area.

A very pleasant Indian Resturant, nice ambient feel, good service by the waiting team and quick kitchen staff. I enjoyed the panner (Indian cheese) based dishes.
Palak/Saag Panner & Matar Panner.
Clean and quick service, can get very busy so booking a must, especially in a small town like Grange.
At the time of visit, they did not have a Licence to sell or serve Alcohol, but where happy for you to bring your own where they would provide glasses.

We cone fron Oldham but have a lodge at Cartmel so have been several times to this restaurant.
We like the food and service and will be back again soon.
We found out that the owner is from Oldham as well !!!

Can't fault this indian restaurant, the food was beautiful and the staff are so friendly and the best service I've ever had, we couldn't get a taxi back to our hotel so the owner got out of bed and drove us back to our hotel absolutely free of charge, very obliging 😊 if you want excellent food and excellent service come to this restaurant 😊👏👏👏you do have to bring your own alcohol, which they are happy for you to do, and they do sell soft drinks

I have only had takeaway, but the food is amazing. The staff I have dealt with are really nice, and professional.

Excellent. Were there twice in one week. Disappointed no sweets. Even ice cream would be good. However overall super and they went out of their way for our Gluten Free friend.
Back again a year or so later and still impressed. Food great and friendly service. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Wow, we have just had a delightful meal in Akhi.

Highly recommend the Tropical Biriyani, I like my curry with a slight kick so asked for some chilli to be added. It was so tasty. My partner had the lamb shashlick, also really good. The Naan bread is homemade and really fresh.

You can take your own alcohol, and glasses are provided.

The service was great and staff friendly. If you are staying in Grange over Sands and love a curry, well worth visit

Had a lovely meal hear this evening, so welcoming, food delicious, pleasant service. No alcohol licence- not a problem took our own with no service charge and glasses supplied. Owner is a super nice guy with nothing a problem. We only in Grange over Sands for 4 days and what a find - peace, quiet and a beautiful Morcambe Bay. Try it .

We were staying in a local b&b for my husband's birthday and decided to try Akhi's out. Glad we did, all of our food was great - especially the chilli paneer. Plenty of vegetarian options. Would definitely go again if in the area.
