It looked popular and the menu was reasonably priced, so we stopped for lunch. It was very nice, the food was good and there was a nice selection of meals. They have omitted the usual choice of Burgers from the menu and included a few fish dishes and Ploughman's lunches instead, it made a nice change.
I think all the ales were Green King, so I had their summer pale ale which was decent and well kept. We ordered a couple of Ploughmans Lunches, a cheese and a ham version, plus a basket of chips it fed our family ok for lunch. The Ploughman's was good, and came with some nice pickles, salads and coleslaw, the French bread was very tasty, I could have done with twice as much though.
It's a nice open pub, with a large outside seating area immediately on to the main waterside promenade. In summer the doors are all open, so the place is nice and bright. There is a tiny section of bar that is kept as 'No Children', and all the old local boys were sitting around in there. Can't blame them, us day trippers must be a noisy distraction all Summer long. There was ample seating elsewhere for families, plus a big side room.

Every pub has the ideal atmosphere for each individual. The Star like all pubs can vary its atmosphere depending on weather and day of the week.
But if you like it predominantly quiet , friendly helpful staff, option of large outdoor seating in sunshine and good choice of beers and dog friendly also with a family room for children you will like The Star

Very nice pub with friendly staff. We where there for happy hour so prices very reasonable. Tables well spread out and dog friendly. Great if you're taking your dog for a walk along to promenade.

Still adhering to the covid rules so near to freedom day which was excellent. Food choice was limited but was cooked well and a very reasonable price for the generous portions that we received. Really enjoyed our meal.

Good traditional pub food, not over priced and generous portions, great little courtyard seating area, plenty of locals in there when we visited but it didn't feel unfriendly for it.

In our new COVID world this is a cracking pub...well organised one way system, hand sanitizer, name and address taken... a genial host and a well-kept IPA complemented a decent interior and sun garden area. Well worth popping in, and at £3.20 a pint good value.

Lovely pub really friendly bar staff my friend and I go here when we visit Burnham every so often great beer but more important lovely wine I always have a glass of Pinot it's by far the best glass of Pinot I have had as yet in a pub, and the lady who serves us is so nice and she knows exactly what we want the moment we go in (and we are not regulars)she always remembers I like that show she's a very good barmaid in my opinion
