Watergate Camping

Brilliant campsite, plenty of space in allocated pitch sites and wasn't too busy when I visited. There was unfortunately one rather loud family camping whilst I was there, which did impact my stay, however this is just a case of bad luck.

Bob, the owner, was very welcoming and a great character. Thank you Bob!

Toilets, showers and sinks for washing dishes make it comfortable for tenters. Would recommend overall!

Stayed in the beautiful Bell Tent
Myself and my family had an amazing stay the facilities are great the scenery is beautiful the owners were perfect and so helpful.
We haven't slept that well in ages.
The tent is so comfortable and spacious and the grounds it's in is something special.
Cannot wait to go back.

A wonderful camping site. For tents only. They have only 10 pitches which is very nice as it doesn't get too overcrowded. It's a beautiful location right on the river bank. You can pitch where you want which is great. You can park the car on the pitch to unload/load up and then move the car away as they aren't allowed to be kept next to your pitch but you can walk to the car in 30 seconds so it's not a long walk and it's nice not to be surrounded by cars to be honest. Dogs are allowed on lead only which some people didn't abide by sadly but we would definitely take our dog with us in future (he would be kept on lead at all times) as there are lots of lovely walks around, you can even walk to Looe along the river which was beautiful. It was very peaceful there with an abundance of wildlife to be seen or heard (in the case of the owls at night). The owners are really lovely. The facilities are nice and clean and only a short walk away. The shower is nice and powerful which is unusual for a campsite so a nice bonus. We pitched our tent on the bank with an uninterrupted view of the river and the woods around. It was fantastic. We have already recommended Watergate to friends and family and will definitely be returning in future!

Honestly one of the best campsites I've been too. It's my new favourite! The area is so peaceful and beautiful. Owners are very welcoming and helpful. Facilities were clean and well managed, water was nice and hot! Big bonus was the ability to have campfires and no signal so a great escape from normal life! Would highly recommend!!

Dreaming about this spot after visiting last year. Beautiful, peaceful, sheltered site on the river. Walking distance to Looe via an attractive waterside path and a great hub to visit other spots nearby like Polperro. The woods surrounding are gorgeous and you can collect fallen kindling and branches for a fire in the evening. The owners are lovely and the facilities are simple and comfortable- fridge, hot shower, drinking water taps near your pitch, flushing loos. One of my favourite campsites for sure, look forward to coming back :)

We've just had three weeks at Watergate camping and loved every minute of it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a real camping experience, free of commercial distractions. We especially loved the peace and quiet, the other campers, having fires, the owners of the site and their children, all the nature, the walks into Looe and the kayaking; both up and down the river.
We definitely want to go back next year.

This campsite is so picturesque and the owners so accommodating we didn't want to leave. With the river meandering by your tent and the valley lined with various trees this is one of our favourite sites. 45 minutes walk along side the river to get to looe. Well done to the butlers 😀👍

I absolutely loved this campsite. Only 12 pitches and in a really quiet location. Bob who runs the show was amazing and when the tide comes up each day it's a perfect spot for kayaking. Highly recommend

We love Bob ! ( the campsite owner ) he was brilliant , funny and helpful . His stories kept us amused during our early morning coffees around the camp fire .
The campsite is out of this world ! . Its like being in Canada . Lots of trees , wildlife , beautiful wooded valley with a tidal river , leading up to looe .
Trying to book for next year already .
