Vale Hardware

Vales is a hidden gem. It's an old fashioned hardware store. Want one odd size bolt? Go to Vales, he probably has one to match it. Wants keys cutting - Vales. Want a tiny tin of varnish or a plunger for an odd shaped u-bend. You got it, Vales. A veritable gold mine of hardware treasures. Not always the cheapest but definitely worth a visit when you can't find what you are looking for. I find I go there first these days.

Has everything you need. They also cut some bolts I had to size as they were too long and I couldn’t find any alternatives.

Lady behind the till called Ajla definitely needs a raise as was very welcoming and very helpful

Whilst putting flat pack garden furniture together, I got the spanner stuck. I went to Vale Hardware, for pliers/tools to remove bolt nut and spanner, after explaining what I had done, the man in the shop said to bring the item and he would remove the spanner, this I did and he was able to remove the bolt and nut as well. Fantastic customer service, thank you so much. I will return in the future.

Independent and owner-run. Everything you need for home DIY, homeware and hardware. Good prices. The proprietor will always make time to advise, assist and even order in anything that’s not in stock. You don’t get that service at a chain superstore.

Vale hardware always reminds me of open all hours (although they're not). every time I go there I never come away empty handed (usually a lot more than I intended ) they've always got what I need. It's an old fashioned hardware store but brought up to date and the staff in there always know where something is if you can't find it before you head off to b and q or wickes try these guys first. highly recommended

I love Vale Hardware shop in Silverhill. The service is excellent.nothing is too much trouble for them.the store is stocked full of everything l could possibly need.plants and gardening appliances.compost and chippings. This week l bought wood stain, lots to choose from.last week l bought ready made cement.tomorrow l intend to buy bark chippings and plants.and its usually easy to park outside for a limited time..

Been going here for many years. Not much you can't get and if he hasn't got it he'll get it. Great shop for your diy, hardware etc and very reasonably priced plants through the year. The owner is great and cares about his customers.

Vale Hardware is a lovely little shop with a surprisingly big range of product lines. The staff go out of their way to help their customers, with difficult to find items of use. It reminds me of those stores we went to in the 1960s. The prices are very good, too. Been going there for bits and pieces for many years and hope they will go on for many more years. Love it!

I came in for the first time today. Needed to connect a garden hose to my kitchen tap. Emil asked me some questions and gave me what I needed. I put it all together at home and it works! Thank you Emil!

This little shop is amazing, they offer a good range of small everyday items, like light bulbs, batteries, screws etc. as well as larger items like cooking utensils, pots & pans etc. There is always a nice range of household plants and things like pots, and dust ins etc. Staff are always friendly and if they can't find what you need they will try and get it for you. Proper shop like they used to be.

Love this place. Have made it my go to hardware store. Its a traditional hardware store packed full of everything you need for DIY. Sell many fixings individual which is really handy if you need a few screws etc. Great customer service and friendly helpful staff.

I purchased various plants, herbs and flowers. Every single plant is healthy and doing very well in the ground. Very impressed, I will definitely buy here again.

I have shopped here since I moved into the area (27 years ago ). I have asked for a nut for my bolt and the assistant searched for ten minutes going through stacks of boxes to find the right one, successfully. Another time I needed a pole to hang a door curtain for the back door to keep insects out in summer. I was charged 12p. I wanted to pay £1 but he insisted that was the price. This was last summer not last decade.
Shops like this are so rare in our modern society, we really must support them. Where else can you get everything for your gardening and DIY needs without being charged a fortune.
