Force Cafe & Terrace

This place is great! After the walk to the falls, we were famished and this place is a good place to stop and dine. The view in the al fresco area is also stunning. Food is great. Very tasty and well made, even the presentation. Service staff were all friendly and nice and also ask all guests on the tables from time to time if everything is ok. When asked about the food, they give you suggestions and thoughts. Burger was good. We liked it. Even the loaded mini rosti for kids is also good. They also served hot and iced coffee which I was not able to try but i am sure it’s also good. We also got the lemon aid drinks though it didnt suit our taste. Over all, I HIGHLY recommend this place, even if you are not going to the falls. Worth the visit.

We've just spent 2 weeks in Ambleside and visited the Force Cafe most days for coffee, finishing with a lovely brunch on our last day. There is nothing bad to say about Force - the service, the friendliness of the staff, their knowledge of the menu - just everything was wonderful! Thank you so much. We will definitely be back next year.
PS How could I forget those views? Also the sheep design on the coffee! And particular thank you to the lovely waitress with the stunning eye-make up and a nose piercing - she was utterly charming and very helpful. x

I’m so glad I chose The Force as we had a truly wonderful lunch and we’re looked after by Naomi & her colleagues.

We shared Ox Cheek Goulash & Shakshuka, both most delicious & unctuous dishes. Ice cream afterwards with a birthday candle courtesy of Naomi.

It was a lovely wet Lakes day but this place has made it special, even the American Airforce did a flyby for us in their F16s!

Came here 4 times on a week long holiday, that says it all really! Staff are super friendly, the place has a great vibe with a fresh interior, good views and music. Love that you have to get here on foot or bike and not by car!

Menu is good with lots of GF/VG options and different choices from the norm.

A great gem for us locals and visitors alike above Ambleside looking over to the Fells. The team were friendly and welcoming and the fresh locally sourced ingredients and the attention to detail was top notch. Watch out Homeground coffee + kitchen these guys may just get one up on you in the next food awards.

What a find 🙌 This place is fabulous. Great coffee and food. Wonder decor and ambience. A fabulous view point where you can get what can only be the best / highest views of Lake Windermere with a fabulous lunch.

Best cafe I’ve been to in a good while, immediately you’re taken aback by insane views which are - thankfully- complimented by the beautiful minimalist yet cosy interior design of the cafe. Then you get your food, we were served by the loveliest waiter who let me squeal with joy at her moomin tattoo, and you wonder how a cafe with such jaw dropping views managed to get chefs to hike up and cook food that rivals the views in excellence. Really nice variety of dish options too! Sorry I didn’t grab the best photos - i’ll definitely go back to get more!

The best accumpliment to summer, the cauliflower shawama was delicious how the flavours blended was très magnifique. The staff was also all lovely like always.

Been wanting to visit for a while and this place did not disappoint!
We had brunch and it was absolutely unreal. The French toast was next level and the eggs Benedict were perfect!
Staff were so lovely too and to top it off the views are stunning! Cant wait to come back!

Had lunch on the terrace in 30 degree heatwave. Beautiful view with a wonderful breeze. Fabulous tasty food we chose Tempura cauliflower on flatbread and jerk chicken tacos - amazing. Refreshing Ice Lattes and Pink Lemonade. Worth the walk up from Ambleside. Service is fantastic and the Force team are so welcoming. So glad to find the new cafe. Will definitely be returning.

A great stop on the way to walk the falls and the fells. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. Plenty of seating on the day but looks like it could be a busy spot on the right day. The food was tasty and full of flavour with some great choices, it was also a very reasonable price for what you get. Cake selection was a little disappointing as nothing really seemed that appealing. The coffee was very good. Some great views.

This cafe is the best in the Lake District, if you have the commitment to get here! It is a steep walk but straightforward enough, and you are rewarded with the most incredible views. I had the soup and cheese toastie (which I forgot to photograph until it was nearly gone because it was so delicious.) All the food is evidently made with quality and care - the cheese in the toastie was excellent, the bread was spongy AND crispy, and the soup was full of taste. All the staff, but particularly our smiley, lovely waitress Harriet, were warm and friendly. I can't wait to come back.

Incredible little gem just out of Ambleside. Contemporary setting blending nature and architecture to create a welcoming and difficult to leave atmosphere. Local beers on bottle.ans can only (get some taps guys) great coffee and food and cake for days. Service is great at the counter or to the table. But the standout reason to visit here is the 1st class grade A views of Lake Windermere. Wow. Instagram won't know what hit it. Basically if you're in the south lakes go here. No excuses.
Also very dog friendly which is obviously a bonus.

Such a beautiful place with great service and wonderful view! They are dogs friendly, close to the waterfall and with the best food ever! Their carrot & coriander soup was amazing, same with mini burger and spaghetti. Highly recommend this place 👌🏻

Stunning views and great food. Get a table outside if you can! We had the pancakes, eggs hollandaise, avocado toast and full breakfast and all were excellent.

Absolutely incredible find. Popped in for brunch prior to climbing Wansfell, best veggie breakfast I've ever eaten 🙂 So impressed that we went back for tea and cake on our way back down! It's a fairly steep walk up past the waterfalls, but definitely worth a little effort. Amazing views, friendly staff, fantastic quality food. We are going back tomorrow!!

Absolutely loved our brunch at Force ! I had Avocado toast with poached eggs, chilli and almonds and it was so good ! Excellent coffee too. We had two different recommendations for this place which was great, as although we were staying alongside Stock Ghyll Force, we had no idea the cafe was there as we’d seen no signage. Loved the short walk to get there - felt like a mini adventure ! Can’t wait to go back because the cakes looked amazing, and also their cheese toasties have received rave reviews ! Staff were friendly, chatty and very accommodating (we swapped tables a couple of times) and everywhere was super clean. * Top tip : Take the time to check out the gifts available to purchase, eco friendly and local : x

Amazing food and drinks and the staff are incredibly sweet. All lovely attitudes towards work and such a welcoming atmosphere, with the choice to sit outside and take in the view. Amazing place

What a find! Beautiful place for lunch, dinner or coffee and cake. Dog friendly with a very relaxed but beautiful vibe and possibly the world’s best carrot cake! The entrance to the waterfall is just across the road, a perfect place to start or end a walk around Force falls.
