I had dinner with my partner and my dog. Lovely welcoming staff, great food and very dog friendly - even though there are also pet free rooms for those who might be bothered by the furry bundles.
We enjoyed the starters, the terrine was very nice and the mains were even better. Excellent fish and chips and delicious venison moussaka. I guess the only improvement I'd do is have something carby to the side of the moussaka instead of just onion - a little bread could be enough.
They also have a dog menu and the prices are very reasonable.

Our first visit to this bar in the Water edge hotel which we loved.

Sat inside and the view was amazing on the beautiful bright day.

Very good selection of beers and staff very friendly and attentive.

Great relaxed atmosphere and buzz with lots of people eating and sitting outside.

Deffo recommend a visit x

Lovely spot by Windermere lake. Amazing beer garden when the weather is good. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. I just stopped on the way to Coniston for a drink. Will definitely return.

Went for lunch on Sunday - they don’t do Sunday lunch - but my wife had beef pie, the girls had steak and chips and meatballs with spaghetti. I had an absolutely amazing hot dog.

Good range of beer - I like the Bavarian Hells. We’ve been meaning to go for years and finally got here.

Well worth a visit.

We popped in for lunch and it was brilliant. There was a special offer for kids to eat free, which was a bonus. Our food was lovely, all in a perfect location right by the waterside. A good selection of bottled ciders and the biggest selection of gins I've ever seen

It was a very nice place to visit. Enjoyed a drink and a bit to eat. Beautiful location by the lakes. Watched the cruise ferries, making their way around the lakes. The rooms look really good too.

Can only speak of the restaurant, as we visited recently as a party of 9 people, without a reservation. The lady I spoke with was very accommodating and rearranged furniture to fit us all in. The food was superb and the atmosphere was very relaxed. We also had my niece's dog in tow, but the restaurant was very dog friendly. It even had a menu for dogs!! Highly recommend 👌

A stones throw from the boats at Ambleside, the staff were friendly and the food was good quality with decent portion sizes.

Very few plant based options but the other people in my group were happy with the food. Adding a few vegan options would make them stand out even more with the local competition.

We passed on our way into town and the ataff were wonderful and friendly with my 5 year old who was desperate for the toilet. This is the reason we came back to eat and I'm glad we did.

Would come back again, just hoping for a few more vegan options. Maybe add something simple like a beyond burger, you cannot go wrong with them.

(We didnt stay in a room just used the restaurant but ive rated the rooms as 5 so it doesnt drop the total rating down)

We stayed on Christmas Eve after just getting married in Gretna. Our room was in the annex on the ground floor which which was perfect. warm ,clean ,wonderfully and thoughtfully furnished it catered for all our needs . The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The menu varied, tasty and reasonably priced . On Christmas morning one of the staff created us with am amazing smile and she was due to start for another 2 hours ! We wished we could have stayed longer and will certainly be back x

Very nice and very large pub.

In the many years we have been coming up here we have never actually been in here, it was a rabbit warren of rooms leading from one to the other, the decor is interesting with lots to look at.

You can imagine this being heaving when it’s high season, with plenty of space inside and out and a nice big bar also.

Their beer selection is simple, but I found one I liked, maybe that because it’s the off season so they limit their selection, I’m not sure. There are so many fantastic local beers to choose from I’m just going to stick with that.

My only gripe is we ordered chips and they came in one of those silly little copper bowls, what ever happened to ordering a bowl of chips and getting a bowl of chips, or just offer small and large. Surely the expense of giving a larger a portion is negligible, I’m not saying waste them, but don’t try and be fancy with them, they are just chips.

All in all a very pleasant experience, it’s lucky it wasn’t warm outside as most of their lake view garden was under water as we’ve had an awful lot of a rain and snow recently which has raised the level of the lake…

A large rambling hotel bar set in a stunning location on the shore of Windermere. A good selection of Cumbrian brewed cask ales including their own Wateredge Blonde. Handily located for Lakedide ferries and only a 10 minute walk into Ambleside.

Newly refurbished and they’ve done a great job! It was always a nice place, but now has gone up a level, with extra indoor seating and great, lakeside outdoor seating all of a high quality.

Very, very busy when we arrived on a Saturday at about 8pm, with the staff obviously having worked a long and tiring day - yet they were all really friendly and cheerful and provided the best service possible given the number of customers!

We were told that food would be a 90 minute wait, which simply gave us the opportunity to sample more of the wide variety of great beers (for me) and gins (for my wife) on offer. The beer was beautifully kept and nicely served. Our food came much quicker than anticipated (I think one of the chefs had come back off their well-deserved break!) and was absolutely delicious - definitely cooked fresh to order and very tasty.

For the price we paid, this was great service, good atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and delightful food. Well done to everyone who had worked that very busy day!

The staff were absolutely wonderful and very friendly. Always accommodating, efficient and delightful.

The rooms are very characteristic which had a great atmosphere. Very clean and tidy, plenty of space, tea and coffee making facilities. Large TV , modern bathroom with a lovely shower, plenty of pressure. The bed was veeerrry comfortable and large.

The bar itself was a lovely vibe, plenty of tables and lovely views of the lake. Not crowded. Fantastic selection of drinks, lovely local craft beer on tap too.

The staff being super friendly, fantastic rooms, great location, lovely beer, and great food, really made for a stay we will never forget.

Would 100 percent recommend this wonderful hotel!!
