The gentleman behind the desk was a pleasure to talk to and I was thankful for that as I would have probably ended up spending a fortune browsing around shelf after shelf of Poetry beautifully catalogued.
What a delightful corner of culture and history to work and shop in!
I felt the same way I do when entering a Cathedral, humbled and privileged. Well worthy of a three and a half hours trip...

My favourite bookshop in Hay on Wye, always spend loads too much. On first sight sometimes prices can feel quite high, but it has to be said the books are in unusually good nick, so I'm happy to pay for the quality. Anyway, there's still lots of affordable books, and I regularly find some I've never seen elsewhere. And then there are some extraordinary rare and expensive books as well, in the £1000s - one can only dream. Owner is chatty and friendly.

I visited the Poetry Bookshop yesterday and it was a completely joyous experience. The owner was so helpful in assisting me to find a volume of RS Thomas' poetry and we discussed it for a short while. Then another customer came in looking for a volume of Old Norse poetry; which he assisted him with. We were invited to sit down on chairs provided, if we wished. There is such a wide range of poetry books, all of them in good condition; and such a calm and courteous atmosphere. Thank you so much :)

Great selection of books. We attended a brilliant event they organised locally. It was with Jackie Morris a fantastic illustrator. Definitely will return to this shop again and again.

This shop is the main reason I still visit Hay on Wye. A wonderful selection of poetry books with many surprises. Start browsing in here and you could be lost for hours.

Lovely little shop, always call in when I'm in town, they have got a wide selection to choose from. And I tend to pick up at least one poster from poems on the underground

The sort of selection you would not find in even the biggest store in Hay. I managed to pickup several books I had only heard of.

If you have any interest at all in poetry, you should visit this shop. Astonishingly good stock. If you're looking for it, it's probably here.
