Fab place, lovely fire and friendly staff. Perfect for a light lunch, loaded fries and the kids meals were great too. There was a big group of us and they let us rearrange the furniture 😂.
Dog friendly too which is always important to us. Veggie food available.

Stunning walk and very picturesque on a clear day! A steep start and finish and quite the scramble but good fun!!!

Great pub, owned by the national trust and has been here since I can remember, they have always outdone themselves on beer selections and their loaded fries are amazing!!! I learnt here that Kale, my least favourite veg, when baked can create a perfect accompaniment to dirty fries.

They are always really friendly and helpful and the walk up the back toward Stickle Tarn is one of the best in the valley, although not for the faint hearted as it is quite a climb/scramble up the top. I would say it’s an intermediate, but worth the effort.

*Update*
So we ate here on our last evening up this week and OMG… the lamb burger was incredible… full of flavour and it just became the best meal ever when I upgraded my fries to their loaded fries… I could have literally eaten it twice… great reward for climbing up to Stickle Tarn.

Called in after seeing they offered vegan options, a few days earlier when we walked the Pikes and so after finishing a walk up Lingmoor we called in for lunch. We ordered garlic mushrooms and peacamole on sourdough toast with skin on fries. The food was delicious, lovely sourdough toast, loved the peacmole idea, although the skin on fries priced at £3.25 are way overpriced for the portion size. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely revisit.

Revisited again today for lunch after a tough walk in the freezing wet weather.. Ordered two cauliflower wings, hash browns and fries with two pints of Helles lager. Absolutely delicious food, substantial and satisfying..love this place.

Incredible place for food and to take in the view. We were staying at the Bunkhouse and enjoyed their poached egg and avocado toast for breakie. After hiking up to the tarn we had a plate of their delicious fries with chilli jam, cheese and kale. Perfect place, view, staff and food. Will defo be back and recommend it highly! Thank you

Sticklebarn is lovely pub run by the National Trust in Great Langdale. Most of the draught beers & lagers are from local breweries & prices cheaper than in Ambleside, Grasmere & Bowness-on-Windermere. Outside seating with fine views over the valley & fells, can't comment on the food as we only had drinks. Recommended.

A lovely pub run by the National Trust. Proper comfy chairs, a nice log fire, treats for the dog and a good pint. Perfect after a trek up the Langdale pikes. We didn’t eat but the food being served looked excellent. Massive NT car park next door

Stunning views from the top, with a great tarn to dip in too. Waterfalls galore on the ascent/descent. Not for the faint hearted, don't be fooled by the fact that it is a 2 mile walk, there is a fair bit of scrambling and the climb is relentless but well worth it.

A superb base for walks around the Langdales in the Lake District followed by a very good pint from the NT pub. Parking is free for NT members but best get there early to secure a place in peak season. I love the walk to Blea tarn but there is so much fabulous walking you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Lovely pub, with a food and outdoor seating area, plus a optional over night stay in the car park for campers. The scenery is fantastic and it's an ideal place to start an hike to scarfell and other routes.

Lovely walk around Bowfell. Quiet paths with nice places for food and drink around. Beautiful part of the lakes that isn’t inundated with crowds. A must for a peaceful hike, lunch or stay.

Great atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The food and selection of drinks are excellent. There is a car park with additional parking right next to it so travelling there is easy.

There is a a nice cosy fire inside and firepit and pizza oven outside but I'm not sure how often these are used.

Dogs are welcome with water bowls and dog biscuits too.

They often hold music and other events upstairs. And a selection of board games or books if you just want to relax.

Consistently the most satisfying pub visit in the lakes. The beers are great, the food is great and there's always something vegan and the staff are happy to make small adjustments to make vegan. It feels like you're being served by friendly scouts from the National Trust. This is incredible at a time when so many places are struggling for staff and service usually suffers, not here. The views are incredible whatever the weather. Most importantly, all the staff are friendly, hospitable and create a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy after a day out.

Food here is delicious. Recommend the loaded fries. I wish they still did the nachos though!
Great place for a drink and beautiful views too. You're surrounded by nature there. Have a pint and watch the birds flitter from bench to bench.

Great beer and great scones. Just what you need after a huge walk up and around stickle tarn and pacey ark. Prices are OK, toilets spotless and service quick. The car park is national trust and will get full up very quickly when the weather is anything other than appalling so get there early if you don't want to be disappointed.

The langdales are stunning. So many routes and places to play in the hills. So beautiful. The national trust pub at the foot of Stickle Ghyl is a pleasure to rock up to after a good day out. Highly recommend. Great for and beer.
