Pershore Abbey, located in the heart of Pershore, Worcestershire, is a true gem of ecclesiastical architecture and a testament to the rich history of the region. This remarkable abbey, with origins dating back to the 7th century, offers visitors an awe-inspiring experience both in its structure and its storied past.

The Abbey's architecture is nothing short of breathtaking. Dominated by its impressive Norman tower, the structure stands as a powerful reminder of medieval craftsmanship and design. The west tower, with its robust and commanding presence, can be seen from various vantage points around the town, serving as a beacon of Pershore’s historical heritage.

Inside, the Abbey continues to impress. The nave, characterized by soaring arches and grand pillars, creates a sense of vastness and reverence. The intricate stonework and the detailed carvings found throughout the interior speak volumes about the skill and artistry of the craftsmen who built it. The stained glass windows are a particular highlight, their vibrant colors illuminating the interior and adding a layer of ethereal beauty to the already magnificent space.

The chancel and choir are equally notable, with finely detailed woodwork and beautiful altarpieces that draw the eye and invite contemplation. The architecture of the church, with its harmonious proportions and elegant lines, is a sublime example of medieval ecclesiastical design.

Visitors often remark on the Abbey's serene and contemplative atmosphere. The combination of its historical significance, architectural grandeur, and the tranquil environment of its well-maintained grounds make it a perfect place for reflection and appreciation of history and art.

In summary, Pershore Abbey is a masterpiece of church architecture. Its imposing structure, rich historical context, and exquisite interior design make it a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply looking to experience a place of profound beauty and peace.

Wonderful and unexpected beauty. One of the finest examples of Norman and Early English architecture in the country.

Only part of the original building remains, but what remains of the Abbey is the best part: the monk’s Quire (which is now the Nave).

Definitely worth the visit. Small shop on site and car park just across the road.

Donations recommended rather than an entrance fee.

The building is merely the stump of what it was prior to the Dissolution but even so it is magnificent. As you enter under the tower you are first struck by its towering spaciousness. If you then look directly up you see the floor of the tower high above. Well worth a visit.

A lovely old church, built in the 10th Century. The roof structure is amazing and must have been so difficult to build. We liked the memorial garden outside as well.

Wonderful and Humbling and we are not overly religious.
Words will not be able to say how we feel about our return visit to the Abbey.
Prior to entering we were
Sitting on the wall outside enjoying a sandwich and coffee while remembering doing the exact same thing with very good friends of ours last year and due to the Pandemic couldn't visit the inside
unfortunately since then Terry Martin who was only 60 passed away due to Heart failure leaving his wife Debbie a grieving widow Terry is Sorely missed by all who knew him
The Rev'd Claire Lording  exited the Abbey and her smile and greeting as she went on her way contributed to our wonderful experience.
On entering the Abbey
We were Greeted by a lovely lady who introduced us to a brief and informative description of the Abbey and its history
To that Lady we say a big Thank You and yes we will return to learn more.
While standing inside you can feel the history of the Abbey
As we looked around
Today's visit was enhanced by the afternoon sun shining through the door and bringing alive the stained glass windows.

Its a wonderful place to visit

We will be making a separate donation to the pipe dreams.

If in the future you are visiting the Abbey please lookout for the contactless donation pad near the entrance it's a great idea when you think
It costs over £20 per hour to keep the Abbey fully functioning
Public Support is the life blood of this wonderful Place of Worship.
Please add a visit to your bucket list.

What a lovely, interesting and tranquil place. The park, and remains of the Abbey, are easily accessible from the High Street and there are lots of parking spaces nearby. Unfortunately, due to Covid, I wasn't able to take advantage of the many bars and cafes in the town, but I certainly will in the future, although my trip to the Abbey and the Park made the visit to Pershore worthwhile on their own.

We saw this building from the outside and thought I couldn’t just walk past without seeing the amazing architecture to the building. They have a large field next to it where you can see lots of squirrels running around.

A Benedictine Abbey until the dissolution of the monasteries Pershore Abbey is fascinating to explore. Still beautiful inside it is unusual because the choir not the nave has been preserved.

Well worth a visit. I went to the I-Sing choir charity performance. Acoustics were great. The Abbey isn't huge but a lovely building.

A place of worship for over 1000 years, the Abbey is a delight. The new Ruffatti organ is wonderful. See the attached picture.
