an absolute gem of a bookshop, with 70,000 mostly second hand books packed into what used to be a cinema. could easily spend hours here perusing through the collections on the sofas. ended up coming out with 6 books on various niche medical/scientific topics of interest - for only £25!

This is my idea of the perfect book shop. A mix of new, old and very old. It's the kind of shop where you could go every day and not know what you will find.

I could have spent days browsing the shelves. I love all of the older editions and the fact I was able to pick up second hand Folio books which I have wanted to collect for absolutely ages so I was over the moon to grab one of those among a variety of other books.

Everything is very reasonably priced, and I didn't find anything that wasn't in excellent condition.

This was my first visit; I will definitely visit again next time I'm up this way.

Always lovely and friendly, great range of books and you can find some real gems. I always leave with something, and I've lost my bookish partner more than once in here! It's a must every time we visit.

Always very accommodating, helping with little requests like letting us put our backpacks somewhere safe while we browse, answering concerns about books, finding authors, refilling water bottles! Our favourite bookshop.

This place is a book lovers heaven. Take at least an hour, if not two, to explore it properly

Fantastic bookshop. The second hand collection is excellent. A real Alladin's cave.

This place is amazing! It was like a TARDIS. It's so much bigger inside than it looks..

A huge array of books from comics to epics.

There's something for everyone. It's a real treasure trove.

We were killing time waiting to check into our accommodation and I'm so glad we had a wander around here.

Fantastic range of books, lovely and quiet (well, they might prefer more people but I don't), ranges of cards I haven't seen elsewhere.

When visiting Sedbergh, a browse through Westwood books is a must. A very large selection of fiction and non fiction books, classical and pop cd's. Very easy to browse as the owners obviously keep well on top of the cataloguing. Nice collections of second-hand Penguin books and Science Fiction. Nice to see plenty of steps to stand on to reach the top shelves and lots of chairs for non bookshop nerds to rest in. There is also a coffee machine. You can spend hours wandering the floors or just do a quick sweep round, if like me, your family want to move on.

Easily one of the best secondhand book shops in England. A huge selection across pretty much every genre and area of interest you can imagine. Everything is well laid out and the prices are excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I always leave with a bag full of books that I have been looking for (and others I have discovered on their shelves!).

Classic second-hand bookshop. Really good books, over as wide a range as you probably need, as well as a decent stock of new books. Good set of second-hand CDs too. Friendly staff. Coffee. Toilet. Warmth.

Fantastic, I really enjoy a trip out to this huge bookstore in this beautiful town. A great selection of esteemed works on virtually all topics (didn't see any volumes on the architecture of African Ice Rinks or the reproductive system of wood lice but I may have missed them). The very friendly staff are on hand to help you out and I always come away with a few bits and bobs. And with the stock consisting of mainly second-hand books it's always a bit of an adventure because you never know what cracking surprises that you might dig up. Highly recommended.

Excellent large used book shop. Very large and varied stock. If you are after, for example, philosophy or theology books, then you will love this shop. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. Limited on site parking, with a two minute walk to a large public car park.

Amazing bookshop... Could have spent hours in there. Shame that dogs couldn't come on otherwise would have spent longer and probably more money

Really enjoyed browsing around Westwood Books. If in Sedbergh, it is well worth a visit, with something for everyone.
The staff were friendly and helpful, while the stock of books was well organised. I spent an enjoyable tour there, but you could easily spend longer. Recommended. A+++

This is one of my favourite bookshops in the UK. It is located in Sedbergh which itself is a book town. The shop is large and spread over two floors. Unlike some cramped bookshops there is plenty of space to browse and a place to sit and have a coffee from the self-service machine. The quality of the stock is generally very high and you will find some rare treasures. There are also plenty of medium to low-priced books for smaller budgets. There is also a toilet in the shop. Parking on the road nearby is usually possible although allow for time as hours can swiftly pass as you browse the thousands of books here!

A great bookshop in Sedburgh, seems always to be open and with a huge stock of books, fiction and nonfiction. Also lot of classical, jazz, folk and rock CDs. Our son always insists on being taken there when visiting us to enlarge his store of philosophy books.
