Dave's Fish Bar

Popped in for lunch today and was massively surprised, lovely tidy little restaurant attached to the take away chip shop, me and my wife both ended up having the Dave's special (might have been called Dave's deal? I don't recall) but it £12.80 for haddock (you could have cod or plaice as well) chips, bread and butter a drink and the choice of mushy peas, curry sauce or gravy!
Didn't have to wait too long for it turn up, red hot and freshly cooked, crispy light batter, good amount of chips the best curry sauce we've had for ages! The proper old school slightly chunky and sweet chip shop sauce, not a spicy gravy!
Service was nice and polite, got quite busy for a Monday lunchtime which is a good sign!
Can't wait to go back

Having tried Dave's takeaway fish and chips last year whilst on a day trip to Sheringham, we were so impressed that this time we ate in the restaurant. The food , service and atmosphere could not be faulted. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Having chosen two Senior specials of cod and plaice, with bread and butter and a pot of tea,our meal arrived quickly, was very hot and delicious with fresh tasting fish in a light crispy batter and golden chips. Although it was busy, we felt we had the time to enjoy our meal and there was a pleasant atmosphere throughout. The tables were cleaned and immediately relaid after every customer vacated them. The toilets were very clean and obviously serviced well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and are already planning the next one during the summer. Many thanks!

What a gem of a place, hands down the best for miles.
The size of the portion was massive, the batter was light and crispy. The fish had large flakes of white gold.

Checked out the reviews for fish & chips and Dave’s was highly rated. There were 5 of us and we all really enjoyed the fish and chips. Food cooked fresh and it was worth the little wait and its tastes great. Good valve for money and helpful staff. The dog love the leftovers.

Turned up on off chance on Mother's day squeezed us in and so glad they did best Fish and chips for a very long time better than various establishments that have won awards in that area

We wanted the best fish & chips in Sheringham & my husband was ‘observing’ all week. We had seen queuing every day at lunchtime and evening + in their very full cafe when it rained (British weather). Dave’s did not let us down, very busy, very friendly and delicious. Definitely worth walking the extra 10 yards for 🐾😎

This was truly the best fish and chips we’ve had for many years. The fish was fabulous - full of flavour and coated in the lightest batter. Portion sizes are excellent and service friendly and efficient. Will certainly be back and recommend to anyone wanting fish and chips in Sheringham.

Really helpful waiting lady who was happy to let us order a smaller meal for my good lady who just can’t manage a full sized portion. The fish was fried to perfection and the chips and sides were 1st rate too. Good value and great food with friendly efficient staff 5* chippy 😊

We chose to eat in as in my opinion, fish and chips don't travel well; they're inclined to 'sweat' and loose their freshness.
Pleased that we did (eat in). Couldn't fault it.
Super-fast and polite service, really crunchy batter on plump white cod. And more. Glad we went out of our way.

Called in here tonight with my wife. For me it's got to always be Haddock for fish and chips which they have as an option. Lovely fresh fish, crisp and light batter and cooked to perfection. Very friendly staff with fast service, great value too. £12.80 for their "Special", fish, chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and tea. As good as any fish & chips I've had in my home county of Yorkshire!

Visited here today with my wife in the restaurant.
It was clean and the staff were friendly.
Food was priced well and we were served promptly.
Well worth a look.

Tip. The takeaway is the left door. The restaurant is the right. They are the same business but it's easy to miss the restaurant.

Updated review another year on , sat in and had 4 adult meal deals and 1 child meal deal at £55 , the food and service was excellent , the restaurant was nearly at capacity and we turned up just before closing time with a big double pram , but were speedily seated and served , top quality 👍👍

Updated review , ate in today and had Daves Special for £10.30 , consisting of Haddock , Chips , Beans , Bread & Butter , Coffee .
The chips looked a little undercooked and the fish seemed to be wet under the batter , tasted ok , but didnt seem upto the usual high standard when i have takeaway . The service was good and speedy .

Very good quality fish and chips , haddock and chips £7 , always quick service , the only negative thing I can say is that they don't have a card payment , so its cash only , but plenty of cash machines on the high street 👍👍👍

best fish and chips I have had in years fish was amazing full of flavour it melted in my mouth I ordered large cod when I unwrapped my food thought it was a whale really big I will be back ASAP and will be telling my friends to visit here

Last day of our holiday we had fish and chips from Dave's Chippy.
Cod chips mushy peas and curry sauce. Asked for large fish ... soggy batter that stuck to the paper unfortunately but we got 2 fish each and omg it tasted amazing. The curry sauce also was the best we've ever had...nice and thick not runny like some. If we ever visit Sheringham again will definitely order from here.

Delicious! Tried this place at the weekend, had large cod, large chips and battered sausage, plenty for the two of us; the cod was perfectly cooked, and delicious with crispy batter. Highly recommended.

Lovely food. My partner had the Haddock and chips, and I had the battered burgers (I know supper healthy). Crispy batter, amazing chips, proper mushy peas, and a lovely pot of tea to top it off. Good value for money. We will be back soon.

Tucked down a side street and off the main road it's easy to miss Daves Fish Bar. If you're wanting fish and chips in the town, then this is the place. It's clean, super tasty and better value than some of the others, plus you can sit outside! Portion of chips for £2.20. Get in!
