Visited for light lunch
There’s a good selection of sandwiches, pizza, burgers, soup and cakes.
Good selection of hot and cold drinks including milkshakes.
We had sandwiches which came with side salad and crisps. Salad has a lovely balsamic dressing.
The wait wasn’t too long even though it was busy.
Prices matched cafes in the area and it’s ideal location next to the station.

Highly recommended to see the history of railways and steam engine. Enjoy the ride on heritage railway line with a visit to Railway museum. There are plenty of things for kids to learn and experience about the history of railways and its evolution over time. Onsite cafe is also very good, served local made food.

We enjoyed a delicious tuna sandwich served with tasty side salad and ready salted crisps at Russell Cafe today. The service was friendly and efficient. Tea was plentiful in the pot. We also savoured a cake. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our visit to the WHHR . Nice little cafe with probably the biggest collection of railway books in the world in its shop , short train ride which stops about 3/4 mile for a nice heritage museum which was very interesting , alot of facts about the surrounding areas history with the slate quarries and railways . The carriages have been restored to a very high standard . tickets are cheap so if your in the area I highly recommend

Very nice staff. The service was a little slow, but that's understandable considering there was a mass of people there. The menu was fairly priced and had a wide range of options for any lunch. Sandwiches, baps and chips. They did a wonderful chocolate milkshake.

It's certainly well worth a visit if you are passing by and looking for some sort of tea house. And if you have any children that like trains, they have a gift shop just full of toys. And the staff are lovely, and all have their own stories to be told.

We bring the kids here every year. It's a must see on the holiday. You do approx 1 mile down the track, the kids help to change the points and then a short train ride to the museum. After a visit to the museum it's a short ride back to the station. It takes approximately 1 hour in total, but your ticket is valid for as many journeys as you want to do during the day. It keeps the kids more interested than a long train journey.

Russell Cafe, at the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway in Porthmadog, serves really good quality meals at very reasonable prices.
We had our breakfast there and it was really well cooked and very tasty. You definitely won't come away feeling hungry.

Amazing cafe. If you are ever in Porthmadog this is the place to go for lunch. My wife and I had a ham sandwich and cheese sandwich. Great portions with the ham full of flavour and the chutney that came with the cheese sandwich was delicious. We then had scones which were the best I have ever tasted (and I've had a lot in my time). All the food was freshly home made. Fully recommended 5 stars ✨

We went to Russells cafe with our 3 year old grandson - the lady was so wonderful with him - he got exactly what he wanted to eat (1 sausage and 3 chicken nuggets plus Ketchup 😀) then he had chocolate cake yum yum!!! Our meals were great aswell. Highly recommend for everyone.

Brilliant little railway museum. Staff super friendly and very good value for money. Our son is train mad and he loved the train ride, all the things to do at the museum and best of all actually got to drive a diesel engine!
