The Crown and Castle

We stayed last minute for a night over bank holiday weekend. Delicious dinner - we had the half lobster and sea bass, and was cooked superbly. Breakfast was good too. V friendly staff. Would recommend.

Stayed here overnight - nice rooms, well organised and set up well to cover its custom - a sandwich offer for lunch and 'modern' coffee with breakfast would be a cherry to top

Living locally I can honestly say this is by far the best place by far locally to enjoy, and nothing short of a superb meal in a fabulous location. The food is always wonderful with amazing puddings. We really enjoyed our rhubarb pudding on our latest visit yesterday for Sunday lunch. The staff are always well presented and welcoming,impeccable.
My husband and I very much wish to book for the weekend and stay even though we only live a few miles away. Thankyou.

Lovely food, and most importantly they have a dog table which you can book. This means rather than the usual pub food one ends up with with a dog, one can have really high-quality food with the dog being fully accommodated for.

A delightful hotel just off the square in Orford. Pleasant walks around the area and down to the quayside. The rooms were comfortable and the food was of a very high standard, would definitely go again.

Excellent restaurant with rooms (21) in a lovely characterful village in a quiet remote part of Suffolk. The staff are friendly and efficient, the food first class.

We had such an enjoyable experience on our recent visit to the Crown and Castle restaurant. The food was excellent(venison being the standout dish) and a lovely bottle of wine (great recommendation) and seamless service and only a short walk away from where we were staying. My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting with our Aunt and enjoyed a drink at the bar (superb Negroni) before moving to the dining room for dinner. The restaurant was full, testament to this establishment and their team given it was a Monday night in January. Looking forward to returning again and again.

Had a wonderful evening meal. Ethan and Colin were very courteous and the food was really tasty. Well presented. Great wine selection and reasonably priced. Good value for money.

The Crown and Castle is set off the market square and next to the Castle itself . The view from some of the main rooms is over to the estuary- amazing. The hotel is very friendly.

Wonderful family meal. Service was exceptional and the food was delicious. We had the halibut, lemon sole, monkfish, hake and duck. All cooked to perfection. Our dog was also very happy with his blanket and water bowl!

Great to be back after (for us)a long break. Glad to discover all as we remember it, gorgeous comfy room, with view of the newly refurbished castle keep. Super friendly staff and as ever wonderful food.
Two minor carps, could do without the supper club jazz in the dining room and bar, the ambience is fine without it. Sorry to see the old rule about no tech in the dining room has gone.

Wonderful experience at this beautiful and well run hotel. The food was amazing and being a solo traveller they made me feel extremely welcome, particularly John and Daisy and the brown haired main in the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble. I will definitely be back.

Consistent and outstanding service, over the years. They always deliver and to their best.
The rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished. For those of you with dogs, ask for their dog friendly rooms.
The restaurant is excellent. The menu changes with seasons and the chef’s talents and creativity are always present. Superb food. The breakfast is rich and generous. They offer juice, starters, main and viennoiserie, too. Plus bread and marmalade.
The staff are exceptionally helpful and assist with a smile.
Overall 5 stars and plus!

Excellent stay. Staff very welcoming and accommodating. Fabulous room (best terrace), and the terrace was wonderful - sunny all day. Plentiful breakfast. A little on the expensive side, but we were celebrating our wedding anniversary so decided to treat ourselves. Great location for lots of places on Suffolk coast.

I came to the restaurant with my family, absolutely amazing, some of the best customer service and food I have ever had. For starters, the staff are extremely welcoming and kind, always very helpful and happy to make conversation. The food was fantastic, a wide range of choices for excellent prices. It didn't take long for our food to come and the catering staff were always coming to see if we liked the food and if we needed anything else. Highly recommend this restaurant/hotel to anyone in the area. 5 Stars.

The Crown and Castle is a particularly excellent hotel, for a variety of reasons. Slightly more expensive than some, but when you stay here you realize that it is worth it, as everything has been thought through.

Have been before to the crown and castle a few times over the years and it has always been a delight. Lovely food and staff. We had a garden room which was perfect for us so relaxing.

Although we only went here for a special meal out, we were all very impressed with not only the beautiful building and it's surrounding but also the staff they were extremely professional at all times. Very polite and courteous from startvto finish and the food was awesome, a little expensive but as a special meal it was so worth it. It would love to go back again, maybe spend the night over and go for a walk around the countryside. It look wonderful, maybe summer rather than autumn.

The quality of the menu and the locally sourced food here was excellent. The potatoes in two of the dishes tasted as though they had been plucked from the field just hours previously. Steak was delicious and cooked with care. I had a chicken dish of breast and a pie of leg, beautifully done. All coupled with quality wine by the glass (driving).
I would recommend this food and service from the attentive and informative staff. The only gripe was a tired decor in the restaurant but overall the chef here is doing all things right, and at a decent price for the quality, i think it was £23.50 for a set two course. We did take a chocolate and raspberry tart, equally good and handmade in house, we were assured by the waiter. All tables around us were equally complimentary we noted. Good job guys. Thanks to the chef here. Highly recommended.
