Just back from 2 nights at the Charlton, one word excellent. From arrival to departure the stay superb. Very attentive helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. The food was delicious, well timed gaps between courses. Never that feeling of being rushed. The views from the restaurant over the river is a lovely bonus. The bedrooms, ours was rm11 . To be honest you nearly didn't get it back...fantastic. A great birthday treat. Thankyou all, more than worth the visit..

We visited friends in Ludlow who took us to dinner at the Charlton Arms. They called the restaurant a few days earlier and confirmed a Vegan menu was possible.

I needn't've been skeptical because they provided a range of Vegan options and they were every bit as great as the non-vegan menu options. It shows what good kitchens can do to be more inclusive which is to be applauded.

The Crispy Chargrilled Aubergine, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus & Basil Pesto was superb!
Full of flavour, and obviously cooked and presented to a high standard.

The Chocolate Cheesecake & Raspberry Sorbet was delicious - rich and sweet.

I wasn't treated differently for being Vegan and the staff were polite and attentive. It was a great meal that impressed me.

Me and my wife stayed for one night in one of the riverside suites. The Charlton Arms is handily located a couple of minutes away from the centre of Ludlow and Ludlow castle. The room was lovely, well furnished, and very comfortable. We managed to use the lovely riverside balcony even with the changeable weather. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food was stunning. I had the chorizo scotch egg and steak, and my wife had the crab risotto and steak. We were both stuffed, and both agreed it was lovely. Would definitely recommend you stay here if you are thinking of travelling to or near Ludlow.

Just dropped in for a drink and to sit on the upper terrace for the great view over the Teem. Drinks were great. Staff were really excellent. View was beautiful. Restaurant looked very nice. As we were leaving another customer, a local I assumed, said there was a plan to close the upper terrace with some more letable rooms. If true, speaking as a visitor who loves Ludlow, it would he a great shame to loose that view. I hope what we were told was wrong.

Great hotel. We stayed in 'Othello' room, hottub, big balcony with view over river, big room with 2 seater settee.... just a great place to relax. Restaurant was a great experience, top quality food, excellent attentive service, views over the river and bridge. Not cheap by any means, but imo worth paying for the experience. My wife loved it as a birthday treat.

My husband and I had an overnight stay last night 6th August.....it was really fab!!!!... after eating here on many occasions, we'd never stayed here, but was on our list of places we want to stay... we stayed in room 11 which is one of the river suites and its stunning, so spacious and comfortable, decorated very tastefully.....we had such a relaxing time, having a couple of drinks on the upper terrace before getting ready for our evening meal...we knew the food would be amazing, it always is and all the staff are always so welcoming.....truly fantastic!!!!👏👏👏

Making our 7th visit to Ludlow. One of Englands best destinations. Flat Eric tells me about its long history. Today also a famous foodie destination. A beautiful small town. We always visit the Charlton Arms. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular where three super local real ales are on sale. Eric chose Ludlow Gold. Excellent. ( Also Wye Valley HPA and Hobson's best bitter.) A brilliant pub for views of the river and town. Had great food in the past but only beer for me and Eric today. Ic n Flic on wine. There is also a formal dining room. A rambling large pub and Hotel with a super beer terrace. Surprisingly large car park. Well worth a visit.

Lovely terrace lunch with old friends. Lovely choice, interesting dishes, well presented. Hotel recently refurbished. Lovely old maps adorn the walls. About £50 a head all in.

Wonderful food with very pleasant, attentive and professional staff. Top marks all round. The souffle and Gouzu were both great starters and the Monkfish and Guinea fowl were wonderful. Great setting for the restaurant with lovely views over the river

Excellent food, served in a cheerful and prompt way. Significantly better than other pubs in town for it's food offering, it's beer is also good too!

We had a lovely time in the riverside suite at the Charlton Arms. Room was very comfortable with an amazing view across the river and bridge to the castle, church and town. The service was excellent throughout from all the staff and the breakfast and dinner delicious. We loved the wild boar tortellini and the steak especially, but the fish and chips, hake, and duck were great too. All very good value with their winter break deal which included dinner, bed and breakfast. Ludlow is a lovely town, the sun shone in February and we explored the town and castle. All round a fantastic winter break!

A wonderful retreat. The Charlton Arms is in a great location next to the river, all rooms have a view! It's a 10 minute walk into Ludlow town center and nature walks are literally on the door step. We stayed in the Montague room: a double bed, clean room and bathroom with period features. The breakfast and evening meals are not to be missed. All staff were friendly and attentive

Had a very nice lunch here during a trip to Ludlow. We didn't have a booking but were seated on a dog friendly table overlooking the river. Staff were very friendly and attentive and food was excellent. The winter set menu was excellent value for money. Wouldn't hesitate to return.
