Myself and a few colleagues stay at this hotel regularly whilst working away in Biggleswade. I have never stayed here and not enjoyed my experience or left in bad taste.

The rooms are quirky, but very well kept and presented, and any issues are sorted promptly. Some of the rooms are slightly larger and more updated than others, but this is to be expected from an updated hotel of this age.

The food and bar staff are excellent, the wait for food is always short and the food doesn't disappoint. The menu is a little limited, but there is an extra pizza menu with calzones which expands on this a lot. The ladies at the bar cover a few different roles, but still manage to pull customers though promptly.

Overall a great experience, could do with the locals giving the place a boost, but unfortunately it's a quiet area. Ignore the 1 star reviews from competitors and snobby locals with too much time on their hands.

Good menu, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. There's parking available both at the front and back - spacious inside and can hold a fair amount of people.

The food was enjoyable , lovely fries and great curry . I liked the vegetable cutlet along. Thai curry doesn't come with rice and also I'd not agree that it is as a Thai curry but it was well cooked. All of us enjoyed our food. Very friendly staff. There's some outdoor seating and well which will be great during the summers

We eat here a lot and have never had a bad meal. New owners are very welcoming. We had our 40th anniversary meal with friends and everything was amazing.
No microwave food all freshly cooked. Have just been for New Year’s Day roast and everything was freshly prepared.
All the village pubs are amazing and we are very lucky to have them in the current situation with pubs having a very hard time. Remember to support your local community other you might lose it.

Meet up with friends that began as lunch and slipped into a six-hour fest! Warm reception when we arrived, comfy area in the bay window, our mains were tasty (haddock and chips, gnocchi and garlic bread) and piping hot. Desserts were lovely and in particular my creme brulee was the best I've had. Staff we're all friendly and were on hand when we needed them but not obtrusive. Happy to recommend and we will use them again soon. Thank you.

We stayed at the hotel a couple of weekends ago, I can honestly say the welcome we received was like being home from home with a new extended family...thank you Suba & Tia 😘
Apon making our booking I requested if it was possible to bring my 3 shih tzu dogs and with no question or hesitation they were more than welcome even though they had a 2 dog policy. The food was unique and very tasty...hats off to the chef 😋 and a big thank you to the rest of the friendly staff. The room was quite and very comfortable, the area was quaint and lovely with a Marina not to far which was worth a look. Once again thank you so much for everything and such a wonderful stay, I enjoyed it so much my hangover lasted all day lol.
We will definitely be back again soon x

The hotel is great, comfortable beds, A bar on the ground floor with a warm fire place that i could sit for hours, really tasty food cooked fresh on site, which makes a change from the standard pub frozen food, i’d return again

A hidden gem. Service was outstanding. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Meal was delicious. Restaurant service was relaxed but not a problem. Please note this is a 500 year old coaching house the floors are a bit uneven the ceilings can be low. It's called character do not expect glass, chrome, and perfection. I will have no hesitation in booking another stay in this piece of living history.

I love this pub, it is full of character and probably haunted - I saw a shadow and felt it go through me seconds after sitting down in the dining room

Lovely friendly hotel for both people and their dogs. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend. Lots of good local walks and Grafham water is just 5mins away. The hotel cooks beautiful food to return to in front of a huge fireplace.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
I had come to the pub a few times when off work, and it was love at the first time, the decor a must, and the welcome from Jon Paul made me feel very comfortable even with my broken English and his Horrible English (Scottish).
Returned as a guest to the Hotel, and, COMPLETELY OVER THE EXPECTED.
The welcome at my arrive was given by a beautiful face with a massive smile by the name of Jordan, still don't know if she's a part of the management team, but she is the one who walks the extra mile, will all the respect - I will never forget such a pretty face a her massive smile.
She did everything to make me feel welcome, even took me to the room and show me the hotel and talk about Lady Lavender.
The food and the presentation, again outstanding.
The cleaness not only of the room but also the pub, restaurant and toilets, just spot on.
Even having a rough with Hannah, which stopped just there, she have been the most adorable barmaid/waiter we can ask for, and yes a beautiful lady too, bless her.
... and my breakfast this morning I was served by, I think the youngest member of staff that welcome me with a pair of eyes and a smile I will never forget, Bless You Mrs Gill

If You Don't Believe me, come here and enjoy the experience of being a guest at The Lion Hotel, Buckden.

This hotel is full of old world charm. Brilliant if you are fit and able.If you have walking difficulties you would find it challenging. As it was built in 1492 please do not expect level floors or sound proofing this is a heritage hotel and you must recognise the non modern conveniences. Having said that our superior rooms had a lovely 4 poster and an end suite with a claw foot tub. The rooms are very clean and tidy and the staff could not be more helpful. We had excellent breakfasts and a lovely evening meal. The hotel is situated 5 miles from St Neots and 40 mins from Cambridge if you use the park and ride from nearby Madingley. There are also a number of walking routes in the surrounding areas which are not too challenging as the land is quite flat ,so cycling is also very popular.
