This was our first time staying, although we have eaten there several times. It has recently been refurbished and now feels much more like a restaurant with rooms than a pub, but still with that relaxed, friendly feel. The room was very well appointed indeed, nothing missing (we did have the largest one!). The proprietor was happy to stop for a chat. We were made to feel very welcome by Ibsa when we arrived rather early. He served us drinks and checked if our room was available. We didn't have a main meal, but the breakfast was very good indeed. We intend to return.

From the moment of arrival it really feels like you are being looked after. The rooms are incredible with a huge selection of appliances to use.

Phoebe and Sam from the staff went to the trouble of moving a table and some chairs near a TV on a busy evening so that we could watch the football and are so friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
With that being said it seems the whole team had the same attitude so a further shout out to Ibsa, Eloise and Hannah who showed a great attitude and even throughout a busy period of quiz night showed the same enthusiasm the whole night.

Great place to stay and a place that I certainly will document to stay at again if I am in the area.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in England. My family stayed at this hotel on our way back to Gatwick Airport after our Canterbury tour. The hotel is located in a quiet area, the staff is friendly, and the hotel room is very clean. The bathroom in this hotel is especially fantastic, incomparable to any other hotel. The food in the restaurant below the hotel is also delicious. The hotel is cheap to stay at and there is a large parking lot, so those who have a car can park at the hotel easily. I plan to stay at this hotel again if I visit this area. I highly recommend this hotel!

This was my first time at the carps tonight, it was a really family friendly vibe. Special thanks to the kitchen who made us lovely dinner and Maddie aswell, I believe it was her first shift and she made us feel super comfortable and answered all our questions about Xmas at the carps!

Did not stay in the Hotel, just visited for breakfast - good quality and quantity, fairly priced, efficient and swift service. Plenty of parking. Nice rural location. Comfortable interior feel. Overall a great experience and would certainly return and recommend

Really enjoyed my stay here. Reception was polite and friendly. The room was lovely. Mine had a bath/shower room, which was pleasant enough - with my only comment being in relation to the toilet roll holder hanging half out of the wall.

I ordered a starter (olives, sour dough and dip) was very, very generous... so much so that I'd say it was almost a meal in itself.. I ordered delightful sausage and bubble and Squeak, which was lovely! Beer prices are acceptable and again, service throughout was great.

Slight (really minor) complaint in relation to the breakfast.. there should be water available. I didn't ask, so it's on me. But on this instance, the kitchen had run out of sough dough for the smashed avocado. Like I say, pretty minor in the scheme of things. The apple juice was amazing!

I would definitely come here again. Great find. Thank you!

Carpenter's Arms is a brilliant place to stay 10 mins drive outside of Tonbridge. The rooms were gorgeous and very well equipped (top marks for even stocking oat milk sachets!), the pub was cosy and inviting, and the service was excellent all round. The price was extremely reasonable. It's a little way away from the town of Tonbridge but is situated amongst lovely country fields to make up for it! Highly recommended.

Stayed over after a friend's party this weekend.

A really nice place to stay with lots of outdoor space including heat lamps. Several different rooms internally for dining or just drinks.

We ate dinner and breakfast here - for dinner I had fish and chips and the missus had steak. Both were really nicely done, the haddock in particular was one of the best I've had for a long time, the batter was perfection. The chips and new potatoes were perfect as well. Everything was served really piping hot as well which is a really good sign in my experience. The menu is notch or two above standard pub grub overall.

Breakfast was also excellent, I had the full English and I could barely move afterward. Not really sure it's worth taking the B&B option when booking because it doesn't seem to save you any money, unless I'm missing something.

A few minor things - the TV didn't have any signal (wasn't really bothered about it though), the coffee machine in the room seemed to be dead (tried a few things to reboot it but no joy) and the Wifi did seem to have some problems when signing in, although that did work in the end.

The room itself was pretty and the bathroom was good but the bed, although fine, wasn't amazing (should be memory foam these days really) and there was a bit of noise from the security doors slamming.

Then again the staff were brilliant and really helpful. I guess 4.5 stars really.

I've stayed at the Carpenters many times over the last few years, but this was my first return for a few months. Wow. The new team seem to have completely transformed it! Both the food and accommodation were good before, but both are great. Rooms feel much more luxurious. Food was outstanding. I don't usually have time for breakfast before leaving, and it's perhaps a little odd to get so excited about scrambled egg on toast, but this was just the best ever! Already got my team Christmas lunch booked here, and will definitely be returning.

Really enjoyed the overall experience of staying and feasting at the lovely Carpenters Arms, the staff were very friendly and so helpful. The food was excellent, and having the experience of dining and breakfast, we can highly recommend that the Carpenters Arms is a great place to stay and eat.

Stopped here for a single night on my way to a meeting out East. So, so glad I did. The welcome was warm, the food was really great, but the room itself was what made it for me. I'm a tall man and I detest cramped showers. These were custom-built, wide, high enough so I didn't have to stoop down to get clean - everything I could hope for, and something that a lot of hotels get woefully wrong. The choice of bedding was superb - heavy, warm, comfy duvet and perfect pillows - I don't recall waking up so refreshed in a long time. Absolutely recommend.

Every time I eat here the food is really delicious, especially for dinner. Each area has been refurbished as well so it's a lovely cosy environment and has been finished to a really high standard. Even the outdoor seating area is really lovely.

We are returning customers who enjoyed our last stay at this nice establishment with a proper pub atmosphere - good food, a wide choice of hot and cold drinks, including excellent real ale, lovely spacious accommodation with extra thoughtful 'touches' to the room facilities, and excellent friendly service from staff who work as a good team. Thanks especially to Ruthie (Landlady), Andy, Maisie and Jamie, who happened to be the team members we were mostly involved with during our stay.

Spent a very pleasant Friday afternoon sitting by the fire with my brother and a couple of pints of Guinness. There were Christmas lunches taking place and the pub had a very warm, inviting, 'Christmassy' ambience. I've recommended the pub to everyone it seems and I'll be back there this week to hopefully sample more of the festive atmosphere.

I booked this place last minute and it really exceeded all of my expectations. The room was lovely, well furnished and spotlessly clean. It’s just a little bit out of Tonbridge but there is a good bus service or you can walk it in 45 mins. It is totally worth it to stay that bit further out for such a lovely and comfortable stay. I will certainly be returning and I cannot wait to test out the restaurant.
