Wonderful pub classics cooked well, offering what feels like a premium dining experience, but at very reasonable rates.

Whoever the chefs are at this place need a pat on the back. It might seem like a rather unasssuming location but it's well worth travelling to for the cosy atmosphere and excellent food. The staff were very friendly and were very swift when it came to bri ging drinks and meals. Cannot fault the service at all.

We went on a Thursday night and both had the midweek menu. OH had fish goujon and chicken breast supreme, I had tomato and basil soup and seabass. Both were very well presented and absolutely delicious. We both fancied a dessert, but neither of us had room, as portions are quite generous! Next time we'll skip the starters and sample the dessert. Two courses were £19.95, which is very good value. Service was good and friendly, not too long between courses, and not too rushed at all, just right.

Venue, food and service were great.

I had blackpudding with poached egg, the blackpudding wasn't the most flavoursome I've had but overall it was a good starter.

I had Gammon steak with pineapple and fried egg; everything about this was great!

Beer was good and the service was very friendly and quick.

We're over visiting friends and family as we emigrated and it was really nice to go to a good quality pub as we can't get this traditionally feel in Canada.

First visit here on the suggestion of a friend. We could not fault it. The food was delicious with a wide selection of food on the menu. The service was outstanding. The staff couldn't do enough for us. It is quite rural however and so it means one of us had to drive, but it was nice to be out somewhere a bit different.

Update: I returned with my other half tonight. We were seated in the bar but we found it to be too noisy with people and a couple of dogs barking at each other. We asked if we could be moved from the bar into the restaurant, which they were able to accommodate, though we were given a time to leave the table, but it was 2 hrs after we turned up and there was plenty of time to eat 3 courses!

Lovely meal for a party of 8 on a busy Saturday night. Value for money. Staff were great and not 1 of us could fault any of the courses. Never been before, but will definitely be going back.

First time visiting, the staff were all lovely, the food was really nice, fresh hot and tasty, well presented too.
Only slight niggle was the online menu is slightly different to the one available.
Will definitely revisit.

This was our first trip to the Goose and Gander but it won't be our last! I had a very enjoyable meal with my family, celebrating our dad's 90th birthday. The food was excellent. Between us we had the sea bass, haddock, the duck, gammon and the steak and ale pie. The pie was especially good.
The service was friendly and attentive.
Highly recommended.

Lovely food and wait staff! I was surprised because I usually don’t enjoy pub type restaurants. The food all looked and tasted great! The veg was perfectly cooked in the risotto. They also had a nice selection of drinks: beers, cocktails, coffees! I would visit here again!

The food was absolutely amazing! I will 100% be going back again, I've heard of 4/5 people how great it is and I was not disappointed, The only criticism I would have is where we were seated, right next to the bar in the pub side rather than the restaurant side so it was hard to have a conversation at points and we had to raise our voices and did ruin the experience slightly but nevertheless I will still be returning!

Quality food, well presented and tasty. As a vegetarian I was spoilt for choice and refreshing to see a varied and inventive menu. Good range of wines and cocktails too.

Great gastropub food, will definitely return.

Lovely meal. Excellent service with lots of choice on the menu. Specials were interesting. I had haddock goujons, duck and panna cotta. Although more expensive than most pubs in the area, the menu is certainly worth it.

Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere, friendly service. I went with my partner and 11 month old for a birthday celebration and thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish. I had the lamb rump which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My partner had the chicken ballotine, also beautifully cooked and presented. Would definitely go again and have recommended to other family members. Mid priced food at a very high standard which I would expect to find in a much more expensive establishment.

Food was amazing and the place is really smart. I had the most amazing potato gratin I've ever tasted with the lamb. Portion size is a bit tight for the price but, still worth it for them tastes!

A lovely place to go for a meal with friends or family. The food was delicious and served in a good time. The music was nice, and not too loud like some places have it. Our waitress was lovely as well, she made sure we had everything we wanted for a nice meal.

Wow! Food tasted exceptionally good. Best meal I've had in a long time and it'd be a contender for some of the best I've ever had, just wish there would've been a little bit more of it
