Santan Gili Cottages

Stayed there in December for 6 nights. Decent place for chilling out. You can really relax and get a feeling of tranquillity.
There is an outdoor kitchen with quite random utensils, but enough to make ur own breakfast.
Laundry machine is helpful too.
In the vicinity one can find small grocery shop and restaurant in close by guesthouse.

On the downside the bed mattress quality could have been better 😉

I wish it would be possible to be there again...

Many same villas in the row with pool and kitchenette nice garden.
Location was good for me since its a bit away from centre and place was not busy. island is small and free bikes you get makes it all near.
Getting there from harbour with luggage takes a while coz I walked and didn't want to use horses.. street is so small its not even on google maps so it might take you to the parallel street.

I've stayed at this vila for 4 nights and it was absolutely amazing and relaxing days. Very quiet, good location (5 mins to the main street by bike), The guys at the vila (Ami& Yudi) were extremely friendly and was so helpful all the time. I will definitely go back to Gili T Island and willing to stay at this vila again. Thank you my friends!! (Happy B-day lol)

I booked a villa at Santan villa cottages a month prior to my stay and paid for the villa in advance. Less than one week before my stay they cancelled my stay without any correspondence. Extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I would recommend that anyone staying there be wary of the very poor service the villa provides.

This place is such a paradise, hidden gem in the lovely Gili T. Main highlights:
- Staff: Yudi and Ami many thanks for going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and happy. If it was not for your care and attention, the place would definitely be less welcoming - you are doing a real good job. Special thanks to Yudi that helped me watch the worldcup when there is a power cutoff in the island. You were great!
- Comfortable and spacious
- Amazing pool for a refreshing moment in the end of the day
- As far as you can get from the call to prayer mosque (you can get 100% away, but you could be way closer)
- Complimentary bikes are a life saver
- Kitchen well equipped: although you dont really need to cook since food is cheap and available everywhere, we were cooking our breakfast and some dinner, and all went well

In terms of what could have been better, I suggest having a big gallon of water available, so that guests dont have to keep buying the plastic bottles that will later be thrown in the dump or the ocean. You can even charge the guests for that if you want, but help the island to get cleaner.

Same for the waste management, there is a recycling center and many waste management activities going on, please offer to guests the different dustbins for different types of thrash, and let the guys from FMPL pick it up. It will make such a difference...

really nice hotel, friendly hosts and carefully explained the details of the hotel. The pool is spacious enough for couples. There is a washing machine, kitchen set complete with cooking utensils and bbq. Rooms are very spacious with safety box. The hotel also has provided two free bikes to tour the island. Perfect for honeymoon!!. I'll definitely come back here!! ❤

Had a wonderful stay, booked more nights after arriving. Very helpful and competent staff, lovely owner. They really thought about everything; bikes, map, torch lights, basic medicine cabinet, washing machine, dryer, all you need to cook a meal, variety of tea and coffee, blender, toaster. Nice size room and bathroom, colorful good size garden and the pool (small, but definitely enough for 2). A lot of sun in the garden. Air conditioner and very efficient fan, if you don’t like to sleep with air conditioner. With bikes you’re close to everything. Only downside is very frequent and long preyers from the mosque starting at 4.45. that you can hear a little. The isolation is not bad and it’s far away, but the mosque speakers are extremely loud. Can’t imagine staying somewhere near if you’re a light sleeper.

Pros:
- The staff are polite, considerate and friendly. Our every need was tended to with a smile
- The breakfast that is delivered to your room is delicious and well priced
- The room is so huge it could comfortably fit another bed. It is fully furnished and self contained although we went out each day. You can expect everything from a kettle to an iron. The staff will even do your washing for you whilst you are out of the room
- The bikes you are provided with are the nicest on the island. They also have your cottage name on them so they are easy to spot amongst lookalikes
- The bathroom is big and beautiful
- Our room had 2 air conditioners. Although due to the high ceilings it was necessary to use both but the temperature was always very comfortable
- The pool is great for a dip in the evening or if you carry the umbrella over, a relaxing drink
- The mini bar is well priced

Cons
- Location. We cycled around the island twice, so a 10 minute ride into the main strip wasn’t too big of a deal. But getting to our room initially with suitcases was a challenge. Gili T has undeveloped streets and many rocks and bumps on the footpaths; at night when returning from dinner you will likely struggle to see where you are going. The room comes with a torch for each person, but using that whilst riding (especially after a few cocktails) wasn’t practical.
- Location. The area is still being developed. The angle grinders and hammers from 8am-2pm were a nightmare trying to sleep after a big night out.
- Location. There is a Mosque nearby and like all others on the island, prayers/hymns/chanting is played over a speakerphone mounted on a tower. We were both woken at 5am on Saturday morning. Though we slept through it after a couple of days.
- The wifi connection is bad. You have to go outside to connect, and it would crash a lot (lots of mosquitos on the island). No chance of streaming a movie if having a night in.

Overall.
We would give Santan an 8.75/10. The staff and facilities are fantastic. However, this rating is reflection of the experience a couple looking to stay at the room or have a romantic and private experience. As we are quite young and wanted to go experience the nightlife, our experience was hamstrung by the location and noise during the early part of the day.

If you are considering coming to Gili Trawangan, we would highly recommend you do it. The atmosphere is great and everyone on the island is sociable and relaxed. We, an Australian couple aged 20-25, made friends with New Zealanders, Russians and Scots in our few days on the island.

Comfortable, clean and spacious. Hosts were very helpful, providing a refreshing drink on arrival and pointing out places on a map. Safe in the room. Pool great and use of two bikes came with the room. In a quiet location away from the main strip on the beach front. I'd go back.

What a pleasant, clean, calm and beautiful place to stay! The garden is kept pristine. The private intimacy of ones spacious cottage makes for a genuinely relaxing stay after a day of exploring or snorkeling. Did I even mention the pool? So nice!

The Location is very beautiful and cute for couples. The staff was really nice, loved the two guys. Very funny and friendly!
The place in general is very clean and taken care off. I can only recommend it!
