This temple is located within the zone controlled by the forest department of tamilnadu and is situated within the national park.

In order to reach this temple one has to trek for at least an hour from the ground. The route to the temple is well distinguished from the forest.

Once we reach the top, one will have to take 247 steps to reach the idol.

The temple is open on all Saturdays and Sundays, but it is best on the tamil month's end, as there is well prepared food ready on those days.

The uniqueness of this temple is there is a waterflow at the top that doesn't stop or overflow throughout the year, and it tastes best without any purification.

This temple is a must visit place for people who love to trek.

Hi all !! This beautiful place is located near srivilliputhur, inside Grizzled Squirrel Wildlife sanctuary now this place come under Megamalai Tiger Reserve. From Srivi we can reach forest checkpost through narrow roads passes through green farms and mountains. From parking left side we can go to Pechiamman Temple and from there two trekking paths (both join after first mountain stream),we have to cross 6 to 7 small mountain streams to reach temple. On the way you can see elephant valley there you can see a waterfalls with valaku parai, one have to be very careful while climbing down to the falls route will be very steep and dangerous & chances for seeing elephants are high(during normal days) every time I see elephant dung there. From falls you have to travel through dense forest to reach temple adivaram from there you have to climb 247 steps to reach temple. On the back side of temple you can have beautiful view of western ghats if you have luck you can also see bisons. Food will be provided for the pilgrims by the temple devasthanam board. Temple will be opened on all Saturdays and Sundays of Tamil month புரட்டாசி and during normal days temple will be opened only once during last week of Tamil month. Please avoid plastics while traveling through Forest.

Kaatazhagar temple, definitely it's a nice place to trek.moreover It's a gazetted squirrel wildlife sanctuary in Western ghats.
You will get the feeling of very close to the Nature🐞🐛🦋🌿🌳🐒🦌🐗🐂🐿🕸🦂🦟
but you are not allowed to trek 24X7 some rules are there, every Tamil month last Saturday and Sunday only allowed. 6.00 pm to 06.00 pm animals may cross through your path so plan accordingly.
Western ghats🏞 Fresh air🍃🍂 when you going to plan?

It's located around 20 from Srivilliputtur where we need to go trekking in forest for about 7kms. Lord Sundaraja Perumal alias Kaattazhagar with Deities Sundaravalli and Soundavalli blesses us. We need climb about 247 steps after trekking to reach the temple.

Wonderful journey. You will be crossing 2-3 small rivers on your way to temple. You have to climb 247 steps signifying number of letters in Tamil language.

Good place to go for both pilgrimage and trekking together. Chances of encountering wildlife is more. Near the temple you can take bath from a natural spring. View from the temple is amazing.

Kattalagar Koil is a temple located in southern hills (meru malai) of Tamil Nadu, India, about 17 km from Srivilliputhur (birthplace of Andal).

The temple is at a hill top. There is a spring in the temple; it is a wonder to see a spring in the hill top, since water flows only downwards. None of them know from where the water is flowing. And the water speed is equivalent throughout the year. The spring has crystal clear water throughout the year. Behind the temple, there are two mountain ranges visible. One of them resembles the face of Perumal (Lord Vishnu) and other one resembles a frog.
Kattalagar is Kallalagar of madurai came to Srivilliputhur to marry Sri Andal. But before his arrival, SriAndal married Sri Renga Mannar and Kattalagar stayed there in the forest.
We have to walk around 6 km to reach the temple. The forest itself is made a sanctuary for Grizzled Giant Squirrel. There is a water-fall on the way to the temple. Water will be available in the streams along the way. Wild animals like elephants, bison and giant squirrels can sometimes be spotted. Temple is kept open every Saturday

Its my kuladeivam temple. Such an amazing place to explore the nature. If you have luck, you could see elephants & bisons. At the same time you should be careful while walking.
