Amazing place for wildlife photographers. You will find variety of snakes, frogs and geckos in this place. One must wear shoes in order to avoid any hassle. It is advisable to keep some amount of salt with yourself to get rid of leech and some band aids to cover the wounds caused by leech bites.(especially in rainy season)

Forest park is one of the attraction of wildlife photographers who visit Amboli for snakes and frogs. A small pool in park is good breeding site of Malabar gliding frog. Car parking available but no wheel chair access. Must visit during monsoon but with permit of forest department.

A major spot to witness the Flora and Fauna of Western Ghats. Major attraction is Malabar Gliding frogs and Malabar Pit wiper. Along with it we also spotted green wine snake, cat Eye Snake, green keelback snake, shieldtailed snake. Frogs like bush frog, tiger toad, cricket frog and many more. Major was the Leeach attack on us. That was the returns from the forest for us. Always carry salt for the protection from Leeach if it's gets stick on body to remove it. As if it's teeth remains in body it can be harmful. And majorly it releases Anastasia like fluid before sucking blood. And then starts at a rapid speed before we come to know about it. Snakes also gets attracted to human from it's body warmth as you might be aware of that snakes are cold blooded. So it's always advisable to keep an adequate distance from them if at all we spot them. In forest area and parks we have to be very careful and beware of creatures. Don't walk by touching trees.. as we never know that snakes might be resting at it. Malabar Gliding frogs are too camoflauge creature hard to find as they too are noctorous and green in color. They stays on trees and hence hard to spot them in lush green forest. They can glid upto 5 mtrs in a single glid.

The place is beautiful and lush green. I went to Amboli for a macro photography tour in August. You get to meet and photograph so many types of frogs, snakes, moths, butterflies, and so many creatures. It is a heaven if you love photographing. The place is infested with leeches so beware of them! The way they have preserved their biodiversity is splendid. It rains a lot here. But it feels so soothing in the zero pollution environment.
