One of the best places to stay the Sawantwadi Palace …. Awesome architecture, well maintained, antique wooden structure and furniture and big rooms … worth every dollar
The best part is the cuisine curated by the Royals … Prince and Princess of Sawantwadi. … down to earth I think they may be the only family who personally speak to every single visitor… must visit place … if are in Konkan or Goa YOU Must stay in the Sawantwad Palace …

Nice palace to visit. Not many people seem to know about this piece of history. Very reasonable entry charges. The lady gives a short description of the history of that place. Beautiful hand-painted ganjifa cards and other items available for sale.

Superb and nice experience. But I think they should try more to enhance their antique stuff and photos. Add some spotlights on the monument. The throne room is awesome. But there is also a chance for improvement.

Amazing experience ✨

A few weeks back, we visited Sawantwadi Palace and spent a few hours learning about the rich history and culture that the Royal family has preserved throughout their reign and through art.

We also got a chance to dine in at their newly opened restaurant housed in a rajwada turned hotel. We tried their 7 course Asian meal which was both filling and fulfilling. ❤

This is a great place to have a one-of-it’s-kind experience and an amazing place to go with your family 🥰

I had visited Sawantwadi Palace 4 years back and there was nothing much to see, except the amazing artists. Things have changed and now it's a totally different experience.
Visited their restaurant for lunch on our way to Goa and I have to say I ate the best food. The service was quick and food was delicious 😋. We ordered a mix of Veg and Chicken Thali. Thank you to the staff at Sawantwadi Palace for a memorable experience.
Plz call in advance for reservation.

It is nice quaint place, with a mix of heritage preservation and business. Large part of palace is open to public (Darbar Hall entry is at a nominal fee of Rs 30), including a museum. There are many artefacts, paintings, photos as well as sculpture for public display. Surprisingly, many of the items are kept in open, without much security or protection.
And a part of the palace is converted in a heritage hotel. Rooms are nicely decorated and have luxury written all over.

The Royal Palace of Sawantwadi stands as a prominent tourist attraction in the Sindhudurg District. Constructed by Khem Sawant Bhonsle, the region's ruler from 1755 to 1803, it holds historical significance. Situated in the heart of Sawantwadi city, reaching Sawantwadi is convenient by road from Mumbai, Kolhapur, and Pune.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay here. Large rooms, beautifully laid out, friendly and highly personalised service. The best part of course, was the food. When the young owners are gourmet chefs trained in New York and make/supervise the food themselves, you get some of the best meals you've ever had. Brilliant!

A stay with the Royals of Sawantwadi - a nice experience. The rooms are tastefully done up using local handcrafted designs and woodwork. Staff are extremely helpful and efficient whilst the hosts are gracious. The food is carefully prepared with locally sourced raw materials, and the high quality speaks volumes about the experience of the proprietors in leading Michelin starred restaurants.

The Royal Palace of Sawantwadi (also known as the Sawantwadi Palace) is one of the major tourist attractions of the town. Built by Khem Sawant Bhonsle, the ruler of this region during 1755-1803. Entry gate (Lester gate) was built in 1895.The bricked brown walls of the palace have a very ethnic touch to it. Wonderfully carved rooms, war weapons and verdant environs inspire you to flip through your history books once again. Another specialty of the palace is the wonderful arts and crafts that are developed here. The walls of the palace are neatly plastered with old photographs, which make your sauntering around a very knowledgeable experience. The Queen of the royal Sawant Bhonsle family still lives in the palace and humbly shares interesting anecdotes with visitors on selected days.

The palace still beholds one with its grandeur and demands a visit especially to overwhelm you with its amazing collection of traditional lacquer ware goods. These include breathtaking dexterity exuded by the set of furniture, chess and board games, little dolls etc. The Chitkaris, who were skilled artistes proficient in artful painting, wooden and clay artifacts and jewelry were patronized and groomed by the Sawantwadi Royal family and the effects of these grateful artisans is visible on very part of the Palace. These paintings with convoluted archetype portray the majestic lifestyle and god fearing nature of the generations belonging to the 6th-7th century.

This old Rajwada is now place for exhibition of handicrafts items, photographs and old antique items. Moti Talav is located opposite to Rajwada with a panoramic background of Narendra Hills and can take ride on peddle boat for leisure. Market for wooden toys is with walking distance from lake and Rajwada.
