Tholpetty Wild Life Sanctuary

Beautiful landscape and full of wildlife herein and the forest staff is really amazing and helpful.. on my one day trip I have encountered elephants, spotted dear, sambar, primates, around 50 birds and invertebrates etc.

We had planned two drives here but were told to only other with one y our homestay owners as its better to go out first thing in the morning. We arrived before 7 am to get in the queue for the first jeep out so as to maximise the chance of seeing the elephants and large cats. We were just the two of us in the first jeep and the driver and guide were very helpful trying to spot the animals as they were experienced at knowing where to look. However there are constant jeeps doing the same route and quite close together so its important to be first out before the animals are disturbed. We saw bison, monkeys, eagles, lots of deer, and finally elephants in the distance but sadly no cats. It is very reasonable even though foreigners are charged more than indians, we paid 700 rupees for the two adults.Would recommend.

Great Safari into the forest. We saw lots of Elephants including a rogue one. Great Spot to go with family. They have Jeeps that fit at least 7 people at a time.

One of the wild life sanctuary where you are sure to see elephants. Be careful about elephants alone as they can easily run to you in seconds. There is a safari trip in Jeep facility provided by Forest office. One Jeep for one team - costs approx 900 - around 1 hour trip inside forest. It's a good experience. Basically in the roadside itself you can see many wild animals if you are lucky. Enjoy your trip ☺

Best place for exploring wildlife. Mainly covered by deciduous habitat. November to April-May is the best time to visit for wildlife Sightings. Let's ensure first entry ticket in the morning and evening, that will be worth. Keep one thing in your mind, this is an open habitat, not zoo so all the sighting chances are based on your luck, season, disturbance level, time etc. If you are unlucky, then try again.. good luck dudes 👍

We had a wonderful visit to Tholpetty Wildlife. Visited in the afternoon session starting at 3pm. Less crowded during weekdays. Around 80 to 90 minutes ride inside the forest ranges. Animal spotting is luck and if you are on the first vehicle the chances are good. We got a good driver and seen mostly Deers, Peacocks and Monkey. When we thought that's it and we are not gonna spot any other animals, there comes an elephant which blocked our path. It was there for a while and we were waiting for it to move but it made a slight advancement towards us. Later it gave way to us. Worth a try. Charges are 150 per head and 720 for jeep driver. You can make a gang if you are alone or a couple.

There is safari ride in the morning and in the evening (3 to 5 pm). Only 20 safari Jeep will be allowed during the visiting hours. They will issue ticket from 3pm in the evening. You can spot animals (deer, elephants, monkeys, tiger) if you are lucky! Good to visit to enjoy the wilderness of the natural forest.

18kms of Jeep Safari in lush green forest....kids will enjoy..lot of peacocks... spotted dears, sambar dears....unable to spot big cats due to off season...but fortunate to find pug marks...

The safari usually takes place twice a day from 7am to 9am and 3pm to 5pm and experienced guides from the forest department will be by your side at all times.

Good off-roading experience.
Spotted Elephant , Monkeys , wild Malabar squirrel , Deers .
Dont expect for tiger ,leopard .
They go into the forest for approximately 20 kms and they stop by when they spot any animals .

Its a Must visit place, if you are a NATIRE LOVER

The Jeep trekking starts at 7 am. Only 40 jeeps are allowed in the morning. 7 persons can accommodate in a jeep. Best time to visit is by december to may. You can see some wild animals during trekking.

Jeep safari allowed from here. Afternoon Jeep safari starts only from 3 pm, not 2 pm which is wrongly mentioned by many people in Google. Ticket issuing was started sharply by 3 pm. Private jeeps were allowed for safari.

It is a peaceful and serene place that offers a chance to see some of the amazing wildlife that is found in the Western Ghats. If you are planning a visit to the sanctuary, we highly recommend booking accommodations in advance, as the area can get quite busy during peak tourist season.

If you are lucky you might see a lot of animals.
Need to get 4x4 to get to the jungle.
Parking is free. Drivers are friendly and they will explain you a lot of things.
Exactly don’t remember what was the entry and 4x4 charge.
You won’t get disappointed after the trip.

The jeep safari ( 720 RS) was nice, though the road was so bumpy. We were lucky enough to see only deers & peacocks during the safari .

Had good experienced to visit a Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. A wonderful example for responsible tourism. Good for a one day trip. Boating facility is available through the lake inside. A walk inside the sanctury is relaxing. WWS is 344sq km sanctuary , it has 178 water holes for animals . WWS falls under Nilgiri biosphere reserve comprising 3 sanctuaries two in Karnataka (Nagarhole and bandipur Tiger reserve ) and one in Tamil Nadu (Muthumalai national park ). Enjoyed the place.

Good Experience, we went by evening, we saw groups of deer, Sambar deer and Two elephants. I suggested to go early morning, so you can spot a lot of animals even a tiger if you are lucky.

One of the most beautiful forests in india, but now it is not the good time visit as it is too hot and dry, we could rarely see animals.Even if anyone planning to visit reach by 6:30 in the morning and 2:30 in the afternoon and try to get into the first jeep itself which increases your chance of seeing animals.

The safari was for 1 hour.and we only sighted some deers. if we are lucky we can sight other animals too. But it was nice to travel through the forest.
