TNWRD - Parambikulam Aliyar Project - Lower Nirar Dam

Nice plan. Must visiting place, Just go beyond the dam view point, you will find a bridge and small checkdam. It's a Nice place for swimming. Be very careful. Water might be faster sometimes and Concrete flooring are slippery. Leeches are there, take ointments.

Actually there is a check post combined for both chinnakallar falls and Nirar dam. The entry fees is about ₹100+ for each person. No one is allowed to visit chinnakalar falls as after Covid they have not cleared roads. You can go visit Nirar dam and enjoy an evening. Car parking facilities are available and snacks is also available nearby.

Beautiful dam, Bit hard for old people to walk down and climb up. Roads were not good but you can drive. You need to carry your driving licence and get a separate ticket for your vehicle and you to visit this place. Many places are restricted to visit, if possible try to get permission from the forest department.Overall it's worth the visit and had a great riding experience. Travel safe and be safe✌.

The dam is located 15kms from Valparai,the roads connecting the dam from check post is very worst, there is no road at all,it takes 30mint for a 5 Kms strech due to bad road condition.You need to get 30rs entry/person and you can use the same entry ticket for nallamudi view point.The dam is very well constructed and it has upper nirar and lower nirar. Definitely worth watching since dams cannot be construed nowadays.There are no shops or restrooms located on the way to dam, so be prepared for it and go.

Visiting the tunnel was an amazing experience

"An enjoyable place, but do not anticipate any amenities such as food or restrooms.The dam is stunning; however, it can be challenging for elderly individuals to navigate the descent and ascent. A picturesque location that requires a fee of Rs 50 per person at the forest check post. Entry is permitted between 9 am and 4 pm. The drive from the check post to the dam offers breathtaking scenery. Access to the dam itself is restricted. Steps lead down to a viewing area. If you continue driving to the road's end, you'll come across a small settlement with a couple of shops selling groceries.

Mostly off road, downhill for 4kms. You will enjoy the drive, you can see more peacocks, few loin tail monkeys and bison. You can see a view point kind of place after a tea factory before reaching the dam, best place to click pics.

The Gaurd was helpful and informative.....good Scenery.....now the roads are too rough...better come on a car with ample ground clearance and power else will be difficult....I almost drove 30min in first gear to cover the last 5 km from the checkpost to the lower neerar dam in my baleno

Amazing location to visit, where Nirar Tunnel starts and flows to Aliyar, don’t miss to visit Tunnel very big water way for almost 8 Kilometer distance.

This Dam located deep inside forest...Roads are narrow . Need to take ticket from forest check post.

Beautiful spot... nice place to rejoice... one to two hours we can spend leisurely. Way to the dam is mesmerizing

Must visit place for families road is rough and tough for a kilometre if skill trained driver can manage by stone pebbles before reaching the spot. Couple were running local food court where you can have tea, bread omlet and noodle instantly. If you order in advance they will prepare accordingly to your need.

Dam is situated at end valparai hills and it's surrounded by forest.. not much to see one time visit is ok. Entery fee is 50/person.

Another Great structure between the forests.

Road to visit this place is little rougher, and we have to go down the hill(so called as LOWER NIRAR DAM) from the Valparai town.

Some shops are there to eat along with this scenic beauty, surrounded by dense forest.
