Nestled at an impressive altitude of 8000 feet above sea level, the base camp for the Meeshapulimala trek offers a premium experience for trekkers. While slightly pricier than the KDFC base camp located 4 kilometers away. Booking can be conveniently made through their website.

Almost no cell phone reception and don't ask for a WiFi, freezing cold temperatures 🥶, limited electricity (solar), hard to reach location....

But there's a but..the trekking and top station view is just wow, totally worth sacrificing all the above for that.

No light pollution, so great for star watching as well.

Don't expect much about the status n food... It's all about the trekking experience, views and memories.... Carry water and some fruits , chocolate to keep hydrated and energy level...

Rhodo mansion is a great place to stay, it's very peaceful, calming and is far away from all noises of a busy life. This property is under the Kerala Forest Department and can be booked online through the KFDC website.

The views from this place are magical and out of the world. The property only has very basic facilities and it is very much enough. The rooms, washrooms and dining area are very clean and well maintained. The food served here by the caretaker chettan and chechi is very tasty, they take good care of us.

The major advantage of taking the rhodo mansion is that we can see both sunset and sunrise from the same mountain behind the property. There is no network for any mobile service providers, BSNL has network coverage in some areas.

The trek to Meeshapulimala is an out of the world experience. The views from the top are mind-blowing, the walks through the valley are very calming. This is a very refreshing experience.

Stayed at Rhodo Mansion for a day and proceeded for Meesapulimala Trek next day. Reached there in the evening and viewed sunset. Skyviews with lots of stars was awesome. Campfire was arranged and post campfire, dinner was delicious.
Started for trek in the morning and post trek, breakfast and lunch were arranged.
Only one charging port was available and you don't get any phone signals here.
Note: You only get hot water in the day as this facility uses solar power.

Highest Stay in South India... Please book 15days prior in kfdc website otherwise it won't be available .The rooms were neat and tidy and well maintained .The trek starts from behind the mansion and approx 3.5kms to 4km to the peak.

Great place to stay and trek. Hospitality is amazing. The rooms are well maintained and kept tidy by Ms Selvi, she's an amazing cook as well. The trek guide Mr Rajan is a very nice fellow as well. Overall amazing stay and out of the world trek. You can see lakhs of stars on a clear night.
Check weather before booking, trekking is impossible if it rains. Sunrise and sunset point is just 20min walk. Meesapulimala view point is around 3-4kms away.

Disagree. Mismanagement and irresponsible staff employed at Munnar Office. A worker category Tamil speaking woman is employed for booking jeep, dealing with guests etc. She is very reluctant to guests, never gives proper information and often misguides. She delayed us, for 2 hours at Munnar to provide her favourite jeep driver. She called every 15 minutes the jeep driver to load chicken meat in our vehicle during our entire journey.The driver stopped at 4 places and delayed our journey for one hour in the mid road to oblige her.. She delayed food supply, and dinner was served at mid night at Rhodo Mansion. Only after I declared that I will fast to protest, they served dinner.All officers wash off their hands, blaming her. Horrible stay. Bed sheets and pillow covers are never washed. It is dirty and ugly. Break fast provided at 11.30 a.m. Guests are asked to take lunch by 12.30 ( within one hour of breakfast )and leave by 1 p.m. KFDC is the worst.

A cool place even at noon. The nightlife here cannot be forgotten. If you own a vehicle with 4 drive, you should drive it yourself. Situated at an elevation of 8000 ft above sea level, this place is a must visit. This is not the place for older people and younger children. The staff here treats us like family members. There is a lot of wildlife here. Do not go for trekking without a guide.

One of the best place, you need to book prior to reach here it cost 3000 per head, though it is costly it really worth staying. You will get amazing food here, and the view u get here is amazing. There is a jeep service till here, so need to worry about the travelling to much. There is a fire camp here, which is amazing.

I booked the stay online through kfdc website prior to the visit to meeshapulimala . The room at Rhodo Mansion cost me around 3,370/- ( only two members are allowed in a room which would cost about 6,740/- in total).

Before heading towards the mansion, it was necessary to report at the Forest Office . We hired a jeep from Munnar town and then reported at the office. It took nearly two hours for us to reach the Mansion . We were charged about 1500/- for the drop ( it costs about 3000/- to and fro in total for the pick and drop to the Mansion ) . Later , I was told that one can take their own vehicle to the Mansion but their vehicle number also has to be registered at the forest office

Rhodo Mansion is a simple but beautiful cottage amidst the forest . I was warned not to step out of the trench alone , as wild animals take a stroll at night. The room alloted to me was spacious and well facilitated with a wardrobe, table, cot with clean mattress, sleeping bags, blankets and so on. The well lit wash room was clean with hot water facility . Eventhough it was double sgaring room, the bed can easily accomdate 3 people.

The hospitality at the Mansion is commendable. The caretakers Rajan Chetan and his wife Selvi chechi welcomed us with a hot cup of tea which was a boon in that extremely chill weather. Later, we decided to take a walk to the sunset point .

By night the climate turned ruthlessly cold with a temperature of 6 degree celcius . After the delicious dinner ( chapathy, rice, chicken , egg roast, sambar and beetroot) , a camp fire was set for us to warm ourselves .

On next day they provided black tea and bread with jam before the trekking. Andbwhen we reached back after trekking, All of us were completely exhausted . Selvi chechi once again showered her caring towards us by serving hot puttu and kadala with omlet and fruits .

You can also carry meat or fish or any such food to prepare. Selvi chechi will prepare it and serve to you.

I have visited Rhodo mansion in last April and it was a wonderful experience. Even though, I am a frequent trekker, being on the top of Meesapulimala was a breath taking moment. And the food provided at Rhodo Mansion was too good, along with the camp fire. Note: Once you reach Rhodo Mansion, check whether sleeping bags are perfect or not.

It is located about 30 km away from Munnar and is at 8k ft above MSL. The rooms were clean and food was homely and tasty. You need to travel in jeep through bumpy roads for about 2 hours to reach the place.

Rodo mansion is situated at 8000ft above sea level.we can reach here either by taking Jeep facility or by trekking.rodo mansion includes rooms with accomodating 2 persons at 6000rs and 3 persons at 9000rs.payment can be done online or rooms can be booked at kfdc munnar office. The package includes food,campfire,trekking guide etc.The place have awesome chilling atmosphere ,the food they provide is so tasty. Good toilet facility, the staffs are so friendly and helpful. Trekking starts by watching the sunrise at meeshapulimala. The place is very famous among foreigners and natives.trekking lovers will be so thrilled. It's a must visit place. Anybody can come here by taking the permission from kfdc munnar office. Trekking guide will be with us everytime and explains all we want to know about the journey to meeshapulimala. Entering meeshapulimala from kollukkumala is highly restricted and a punishable offensive. While trekking to Meeshapulimala from base camp, one will pass by this mansion. I guess its a really good place to stay if you are coming with family. Toilets are better than base camp, and you will get hot water as well. The road to here is extremely rough. Its impossible for normal cars to take on the road from base camp to Rhodo mansion(unless you have some Land Rover kind of vehicles). Jeeps do the task here at a price of 3k(up and down from KFDC office). Trekking from here to meeshapulimala is 7 km(up and down). One has the benefit of seeing both sunrise and sunset if you are staying in the Rhodo mansion.

Highest staying option in South India which is located 7000+ feet above sea level.This is maintained by KFDC. Road is very bad from base camp which is about 5km and only 4WD vehicles can travel. Jeeps can be hired from Munnar Kfdc Horticulture office and it will cost about 3000/- INR round trip. Permit need to be taken at KFDC office. At Rhodomansion Rooms are clean with attached toilet and bathroom.Hot water available through solar heating.Electricity available at room. It will be chilly at night. Food was tasty and cooked there itself. From Rhodomansion one need to walk about 5km to reach measapulimala peak and it's moderately easy. Beware of leeches during rainy season. View is amazing from top if sky is clear.

Good. Provides hot water for bathing. Equiped with solar panel and solar water heater. Sleeping bag and wool cloth are provided with soft matress. Good ambiance around.

Very cool place, if you are going in raining season carry raincoat and winter jackets, food good quality..and day and night pin drop silent..👌👌. Trekking 8km very good view of sunrise and sunset 🥰🥰🥰

It is a stay place near the Meesapulimala the 2nd highest peak in the Western Ghat in the package of KFDC Ecotourism programme. This is 5 kilometre away from KFDC Base camp. And the only authorised way to watch the Meesapulimala.

Excellent location. Far from bustling city life. Surrounded by luscious green valleys and picturesque landscape. Serves delicious local cuisine. Don't expect five star amenities.
