Rundhe Petroglyphs

Elegance.... It's near the main Ratnagiri Rajapur Road . They are more in numbers yet unexplored.

If you are curious about history and if you love to explore something new then this is the place for you .

I would advise to take someone knowing the place with you as these are little difficult to find . We were unable to find the big one. Enjoyed it to fullest and left me amazed. I hope it gets due attention from government and concerned authorities

One of the unknown treasures of Konkan - Ratnagiri, Rajapur. This is close to Adivare, Rajapur. Google maps shows the correct location

One has to do a small hike to reach the site and need to search a little bit there to see the petroglyphs.

This is my hometown.... some of the people have no idea about this place even our villegers

On a barren plataue near Rundhe, there are these Petroglyphs at two locations. Most of the carvings are of Domestic animals like Cows, calves and sheeps. Some are also of Animals looking like pig or Kangaroo.

The most interesting is that of a humanoid shape with some kind of platform below its feet. This one reminds the stance of statue of BAHUBALI.

Petroglyphs aren't very easy to spot, the approaching road has a electric line running by it and just by one of the poles, there is one of these and the rest are on other side of the road at least 150-200 meters away.

The shapes have been marked with small pebbles for easy visualisation.

This is a civilisational treasure that connects prehistoric cultures around the world, yet remains mostly off the eyes due to its remote place.

I visited Rundhe Petroglyphs hoping to witness the ancient artistry, but unfortunately, dense grass covered most of the site, obscuring any visible carvings. It's advisable to check with locals beforehand to ensure optimal viewing conditions, as the time of year significantly affects visibility.
