Certainly! Here’s a review of Matheran:

---

Matheran, a quaint hill station in the Western Ghats of India, offers a serene escape from the bustling city life. Known for its pleasant climate and lush greenery, it's an ideal destination for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike.

One of the unique aspects of Matheran is that vehicles are banned, preserving its peaceful atmosphere and clean air. The main modes of transport are horses and hand-pulled rickshaws, adding to its old-world charm. The toy train ride up the hill is a delightful experience, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Matheran boasts numerous viewpoints, each offering breathtaking vistas of the valleys and mountains. The most popular ones include Echo Point, Louisa Point, and Panorama Point, where you can witness stunning sunrises and sunsets. The dense forest trails are perfect for trekking, with each path leading to new and captivating sights.

Accommodations in Matheran range from budget hotels to luxurious resorts, catering to different preferences and budgets. The local market is vibrant, offering a variety of handicrafts, chikki (a traditional Indian sweet), and souvenirs.

However, it’s essential to be prepared for the lack of modern amenities and the sometimes challenging terrain. The monsoon season brings heavy rains, making some paths slippery and difficult to navigate.

Overall, Matheran is a charming destination that offers a refreshing retreat into nature, making it a must-visit for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty.

Must Visit place!! Matheran is really a nice hill station where you can plan for a day visit or can plan for a overnight stay. Most exciting thing about Matheran is train ride which cost around 100 per person. Horse ride is also available in Matheran which will cost you 1000-1500 bucks for 6-7 view points. Also, for old age people , they have started e-rickshaw as well. Altogether, it’s a great place to visit for weekend. Best time is June or October.

Its a best place to visit for a one day trip. There are many hotels for staycation also. You can easily board a cab which goes upto Aman Lodge , from there you can trek or you can enjoy the toy train. There is also a museum and there are many points such as heart point, monkey point etc. Also there is a Temple. There is also a lake there . You can visit it just after the rains or during winter. This is the Hill Station in India where there is no vehicle movement . So it is actually a pollution free area .

A Chaotic Yet Unforgettable Retreat

Matheran, the charming hill station near Mumbai, offers a unique blend of chaos and beauty that leaves an indelible mark on its visitors. Known for its prohibition of motor vehicles, the only way to explore Matheran is on foot or horseback, which can be both exhausting and exhilarating.

The chaotic aspect of walking everywhere, especially during the monsoon, is an adventure in itself. The paths become muddy and slippery, making every step a challenge. However, this very chaos adds to the charm of Matheran. As you navigate through the dense forests and winding trails, the sense of achievement and the memories you create are unparalleled. The physical exertion fades in comparison to the beauty that surrounds you.

Monsoon in Matheran is nothing short of magical. The entire landscape transforms into a lush green paradise, with waterfalls gushing down the cliffs and streams flowing with renewed vigor. The cool, misty air and the sound of raindrops falling on the dense foliage create a serene ambiance that is both refreshing and soothing. The views from various points like Panorama Point and Echo Point are breathtaking, offering a panoramic vista of the rain-soaked Western Ghats.

Despite the chaos of walking and the occasional inconvenience it brings, Matheran during the monsoon is an experience that stays with you forever. The blend of natural beauty, adventure, and the simple joy of disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of city life makes it a must-visit destination. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or just someone looking to escape the urban grind, Matheran offers a chaotic yet unforgettable retreat.

Best hill startion. Pollution free. The leaving cost is a little bit high. But it's worth it. Rarely network came. If you Wana enjoy the rain, then go between July and Aug, and if you Wana enjoy the view of hills, then go after dasera.

This place is an excellent location for vacation with family👪 and kids. No vehicles are allowed inside matheran hill station and one has to use horses provided by the organisers. The hill top has got so many view points and are stunning. The driving experience on that roads to reach matheran is experience of lifetime. The meter gauge train journey around the hill station at a higher altitude is superb.Horse riding upto hill is a scam.Beware.They charge 550 per each person.White electric autos charge 35 per person.

Loved the place and the experience. Lots of walking to do. Opting for horse rides at times proves to be expensive and we have to walk it up ourselves to a few hill points. The Toy Train is a must travel by mode. Be it at Neral or at Matheran or be it for the Neral-Matheran-Neral toy train and the Matheran-Aman Lodge station shuttle train, tickets are issued by the railway staff only 45 minutes before the departure of the train. It is best to reach the station early to secure our tickets on the toy train.

Matheran is all about the views. Easily accessible via scenic rail from Mumbai, this refuge in the Sahyadri Hills is blissfully free of motor vehicles and affords nearly three dozen lookouts over the Western Ghats and the region's village-dotted plains.

After Lonavala. It is 2nd most beautiful and popular hill station in Maharashtra. It is around 80 km far from Mumbai. In local train it takes around 80 minute to reach Neral Railway station from CSMT. Frequent local train is available. After reaching Neral you can book hired car 100 rupees/ person upto Aman LodgeToy train station. From there you can book E Riska or Toy train or by horse riding or can go by walk also. If you are going by walk follow the toy train railway track, It will be easy. And during return follow the Auto Riska track. It will take around 40 minute to reach Matheran toy train station. There u can find all the hotels and shops. And you can visit all the view point also.

Matheran boasts scenic greenery, numerous hill points, and waterfalls. We visited during August, which offered a refreshing climate with cool breezes and a hint of fog. Accessible from Aman Lodge via toy train, Matheran's various points can be explored by horse ride or on foot. Each point being sufficiently distant, requiring approximately 1-2 days to fully experience.
