Beautiful architecture and a splendid collection of old musical instruments. All visits are guided, helping a lot in understanding the incredible and mysterious history of the place. Highly recommended.

Found it while browsing places to visit in the area. We arrived there without reservation, but the lady at the ticket shop squeezed us into a tour with only 15min waiting time - thanks for that!
The castle itself is very picturesc, with sometimes unbelievable amounts of details to discover.
We enjoyed the stay a lot!

Amazing palace. Definitely worth a visit. The architecture was really good. Friendly people and tour guides. I also recommend the mini coffee at the cafe

Located in the outskirts of the metropolitan city of Bologna in the little town of Riola. Amazing views and a truly magnificent structure ritch with history and interesting backstories about it's founder and tenet. A place not to miss if you happen to have some time on your hands and want to explore places around Bologna. Easily accessible by train or by car. If you happen to chose the train you can easily get one from Bologna Central station, you then need to get off at Riola station from which the Rocchetta is just a few minutes by foot up a hill (not too steep).

Definitely a magical place to visit. Book upfront on the castle's website (ticket costs €10 for a guided tour) and bring your camera! It takes approximately 1.5hrs by car from Florence. It's difficult to be reached by public transport. Guided tours are also available in different languages. The place has an interesting history from artistic, humanist and architectural point of view. Further down the road there are a bar and a panini place you can have a refreshing drink and a quick snack like tigelle (a typical delicious Panini from the Bologna region)

10euro to enter as you can only see it with a guide. Tour was interesting and the castle itself is quite an oddity to be seen

Very interesting and beautiful castle. Easy to get to with free parking. The price is inclusive of a tour in Italien and an Audio Guide in English, German, French.
Recommend if you are interested in architecture and modern versions of oriental mixes. However, I feel like the audio guides could be expanded a bit, as the tour guide seemed to give much more information.

Had a guided tour in the evening. The castle is a real one-of-a-kind experience and a very interesting work of architecture. The tour was in Italian, luckily they had an audio tour in English. A real must-visit!

Such a beautiful castle, it seems like one you would find in a fairy tale. We bought the tickets online, you need the Green Pass to enter. We booked our slot for midday, our guide was very good and she explained the interesting history of the Rocchetta and its owner. The tour lasts an hour.
The price of the ticket is very reasonable.
Not very far from here there is a quaint medieval village to visit, it is called La Scola.

Nice surprise in the country side faraway from the city heat. All of a sudden you travel in time in an eccentric palace when alchemy was practiced. It is a special and charming place, I definitely suggest a visit.

We had an evening tour here and it was amazing! The castle is simply fantastic. The tour was Italian but we had an audio tour in English.

Nicely renovated fantasy castle, the story behind it merits a Hollywood movie. Highly recommended to all people passionate about patterns, architecture and esoteric healing techniques. Stunning location, I can understand you were half healed just by traveling to the place and seeing the castle from the distance.
