Lavatoio Medievale Fiume Cefalino - Cefalù (pa)

Really worth a look - you are going to walk past anyway and it is a quick visit.

One of the most iconic places in Cefalù. Placed in the historical city center is a must visit place once you are in the area. I visited it in winter time but during hot summer days down here you can find always some fresh air. One of the reason is the river Cefalino that springs here before it ends in the sea.

A well kept and interesting historical site.

The Lavatoio of Cefalù is an ancient public wash house which dates back to the medieval period. It is one of the symbolic monuments of Cefalù and its history is linked to an ancient legend. In fact it is fed by the Cefalino river which, according to legend, was formed from the tears of a nymph.

Great piece of ancient Greek arquitecture dating back to the 1500s. A quick stop to cool off and resting during a hot day.

A great piece of history just off the main drag, it is signposted from the main pathway and is down a short set of stairs, no ticket was required we walked straight to it

Probably the best and most unusual sight that I observed while in wonderful Cefalù.

This is an Ancient Roman wash house. It's worth the visit. You'll see how the Romans washed themselves. It's a very unique place in Cefalu on the way to the beach.

Old laundry washing center.. shadowy and cool for hot times

Seems mundane; but you should visit this and see how laundry was done until washing machines were made. Makes you appreciate MoMA more!!!

It’s a quick stop and unique, take a few minutes and realize how much easier this made doing the wash a few hundred years ago.

Fun quirky place to visit. Takes only a little while to visit. Makes you appreciate your washing machine.

It was so hot in Cefalu that day. When I stumbled across this place it felt like an oasis. The spring water was so cold and refreshing. Definitely glad I followed the crowd down the steps.

Also you can wash your towel if is it full of sand from beach

This is a lovely place, it’s well keep, free visit, takes 2 minutes, but it’s interesting to see how the process of laundry happened back on medieval days.
