Hotel Relais Palazzo del Capitano

In October 2023, we stayed 8 delightful nights at Palazzo del Capitano in a presidential suite overlooking the beautiful garden and the village of San Quirico D'Orcia.
its a perfect location to select as a base if you want to tour Tuscany and Umbria beautiful medieval villages and cities. The staff is very friendly and professional. Breakfast was very good and copious with very fresh ingredients from their farm. Dinner was also good. Will keep fond memories of our stay there and the friendliness of their staff.

Lovely generous sized room, and bathroom . Gorgeous comfy beds and pillows. A Light room, airy and a bit quirky too. The hotel gardens are delightful and breakfast was super. We were also able to store our bicycles safely nearby. Central easy location for everything. The staff were very attentive and professional. This company seem to have the monopoly on accommodation in this town so just as well they are good. My only gripe would be the aggressive marketing strategy. I was bombarded by emails after booking here. Six in my inbox within seconds. Needless to say I haven’t read any of them - I’m on holiday.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Tuscany. Rooms are nice especially the presidential suite we were offered. Staff is very nice and the place is just remarkable. Parking is to be found outside the city walls and its free (covered by the hotel). San Quirico is wonderful and the people are very nice.

My absolutely favourite "hotel" room so far- dreamy Peonia, the rooftop suite in the heart of the town, was the cherry on top of my magical 24-hours in San Quirico. VERY comfortable bed, flawless design, modern and comfortable bathroom, warm (it gets very cold in the winter), view over the valley, privacy, yet right across the street from the all the best nooks. Useful tea kitchen downstairs. The hotel garden itself is a gem and I look forward to come check it out again in the future. Nice lounge for guests, extremely warm welcome, service, and a historical hotel full of grace and character.

I love that their buildings are spread out over the town: different building for reception, for rooms, for breakfast, etc. Makes everything a village adventure and lets you see various nooks of this magical place. Slice of Tuscan paradise :)

I had the most perfect stay at Palazzo del Capitano! The hotel is truly a gem, you walk in and you are transported into a fairy tale. The staff is outstanding and Lorenzo makes you feel so welcomed and at home. The hotel is family owned and the owners are so lovely and their love truly shines around the property. The rooms are a dream, so clean, very curated. The view from our room looked like a painting. I loved the pool with salty water and the garden. I could have stay there all day! The hotel is in the heart of San Quirico d’Orcia and it’s the perfect getaway to relax, be in nature and eat fantastic food.
I can’t recommend this hotel enough and I can’t wait to go back!!!

This hotel was amazing. We were greeted in the lobby and offered cool drinks on a hot day. Once checked in we were shown to our comfortable room. There is a bar downstairs in the same room that is used for the extensive continental breakfast. A spa is also available if you would like to book massages, which we did! Our experience was wonderful and I would definitely recommend a stay here. Additionally, Vecchio Forno, a wonderful restaurant in town is owned by the same family. The hotel booked our reservation and we received a discount.

This is a trully memorable hotel that everyone should visit when in Toscany. It has a beautiful location and the rooms look very stylish,romantic and with a historical touch. It is very clean and the common areas look like taken out of a fairytale. The breakfast area has a very relaxing atmosphere with nice classical music playing while eating a delicious breakfast. Last, a big thank you and applause to the stuff who were just wonderful. They welcomed us in such a warm manner and they were always willing to help with questions or requests. I am looking forward to going back again maybe in the winter and try one of their special rooms with the jaccuzi inside. I highly recommend this place. Thank you for lovely experience.

We spent a night at the hotel while visiting the charming San Quirico d'Orcia. The hotel staff was quite friendly and accommodating. The served rich breakfast buffet and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The hotel has a beautiful and very romantic patio garden.

My wife and I stayed for three nights and enjoyed the serene settings surrounding the hotel. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was nice and large (albeit mostly cold foods). Church bells practically next door would ring all night, but fortunately the windows are nicely insulated so the ringing was muffled and sounded distant. The hotel owners have a restaurant just minutes away (Trattoria Toscana Al Vecchio Forno) that was VERY good and we were given a 10% off voucher for our meal. They also own a spa for were also given 10% off, but we didn't have a chance to get a massage. The only real downside was the wifi, which was constantly off and on during our stay.

What a fantastic hotel. The service, food, and room were all quite nice. Luisa was especially helpful, courteous, and very professional. We will definitely return to this gem of Montalcino. Well done!

Very comfortable hotel with large rooms,very tidy & clean and original decoration for each room,its a beautiful structure situated in the heart of the town (can access hotel by car for baggage) you have to park at the outside walls of the town,just few minutes of walk (hotel offers free service to bring you there).Hotel employees are very helpful and kind with excellent service all around, breakfast is very satisfying with a large selection of food and very savoury.Fair and good price.To recommend without doubts.

Helpful staff. The rooms are beautiful and the town is gorgeous. The reception can arrange local tours for you as well as transfers to the train station
