Osteria da Tronca

Delightful place, two of the best dishes we had on our Italy Trip came from Osteria da Tronca. The Tiramisu with crumbles is the best!

We enjoyed a great meal at Osteria da Tromca at the recommendation of our hotel. They graciously fit us in for a late dinner, and we’re so glad they did! The carpaccio antipasti was excellent, especially with the addition of a light cheese and fresh raspberry reduction that was added to the top. The primi courses, the cinghiale pasta ragu and the rabbit ragu with lemon and olive, were both delightful and quite flavorful and light considering they were pasta dishes. Our secondi were likewise lovely, including more cinghiale, this time in the form of a cacciatore stew (lovely and rich) and lamb “in a net” (i.e. ground spiced lamb meatballs in a light sausage skin).

What really stood out alongside the delicious food was the fantastic selection of local regional wines available by the glass. The wine list provided the perfect opportunity to sample wines from Massa Marittima and the surrounding area, including a wide selection of organic wines.

We’d recommend putting this on your dining list while in town (but be aware, the charming brick and stone walls ensure there’s no cell signal or WiFi 😘)

Small menu, delicious pasta, great decor across two floors, dog and child friendly. Sides are well-portioned and very tasty (roasted veg and salad). Tiramisu served in a plant pot and has a crumble-like topping

Fantastic restaurant with very good and authentic tuscan food and very friendly service. They also have a very good wine list.

This is the place to be. Authentic Tuscan dishes, but made special by the wonderful chef. Very friendly waitstaff helped us in English, translating the menu when needed. The ambience of this place is so warm, with seating on different levels, and tables in cozy corners.

The ragù cinghiale is a definite recommend. As is the tiramisu with dark chocolate crumbs. Our favourite wine pairing with the food was the local Sangiovese from Giovanni Valentini (we even went to their wineshop for a wine tasting and to take a few bottles home).

If you have only one night in Massa Marittima, eat here. If you have two nights here, eat here twice (as we did). You won't be disappointed!

In our 15 days so far in Italy, this was the most delicious and the most memorable meal. Every single dish was absolutely fantastic. Each plate was tastier than the last. This restaurant adds a unique twist to some traditional dishes (such as with the tiramisu) and I find it so fun when a chef tries new things. The food was elevated but was only about 2 euros more than you would pay at an average restaurant. We hope to have time to come back to try more things on the menu before we leave!

More 4.5 than 5. A nice little restaurant, in the old part of Massa Marittima, that will surprise you thanks to a menu with limited but nicely varied choices. The restaurant itself is very picturesque with its old timbers and walls. The food is well prepared and cooked and complemented by a nice selection of local wines. A must the maremmani even though I would've appreciated four pieces of pasta in the dish instead of the three they served. Also, the "affettati", cured meats of various kinds, are locally sourced and of very high quality. In general, strong points are the entrees and meat dishes, while the pasta dishes (apart from the aforementioned maremmani) are ambitious but not as good as the others. Prices are in the norm for Tuscany. The service was friendly but a bit lackadaisical.
Be sure to visit if you're holidaying there.

Overall the food was amazing and to die for especially the guancia di Maremmana was very flavourful and really tender

Very good food,great ambiente and a very nice waiter - we will definitely come back next time we are in Massa Marittima.

Inside and outside tables were great. The young lady was extremely nice. Food was superb except it was a bit cold.

Top quality Tuscany trattoria.

Excellent Tuscan food!

Mi sono imbattuto con i miei genitori in questo splendido angolino di storia un po’ per caso, un po’ suggestionati dalle foto viste sul Web. Già alla porta capiamo che è stata oggettivamente una ottima scelta. Tralasciando la bellezza incredibile del locale, che ti fa rivivere nel passato, l’accoglienza del proprietario e la sua professionalità ci hanno da subito fatto sentire a nostro agio, con una accoglienza incredibile, di chi fa questo mestiere per passione.
Abbiamo ordinato i ravioli maremmani al ragù (sublimi), pici al pesto di salvia e mandorle (poesia), la guancia su crema di patate (eccezionale), 2 tiramisù, una ottima bottiglia di Vino rosso maremmano locale, guidati nella scelta dal simpaticissimo oste, e dobbiamo dire che l’ora del pranzo, trascorsa così è davvero stupenda.
Il Conto è onestissimo ma mai allineato alla cortesia e qualità del cibo e del servizio! Mancia Obbligatoria!
