One of the most iconic and famous locations of Tuscany, the cypresses (cipressini) of San Quirico d’Orcia.
An absolute must see when you are travelling to Tuscany and, specifically, to the province of Siena; in particular the southern part of the province.
One of the most instagrammed locations of Tuscany.
Very close to San Quirico d’Orcia.
These cypresses are visible from the main road SR 2 that connects Montalcino to San Quirico on the right end side (geographical coordinates 43°03’45,62” N ; 11°33’31,86” E) but don’t miss to visit another group of cypresses just at the top of the same hill which you cannot see very easily from the main road.
So be ready to park your car wherever you can and climb the hill to see these 2 stunning and unforgettable locations.
When you look at the first group of cypresses from the main road you can see at the top right corner the second group of cypresses, but you need to climb the small hill to see the second group properly.
There is another road that can take you to the 2 locations from the opposite side of the hill but it requires you to drive offroad for a few hundred meters so not super easy.
Amazing location.
Strongly recommended.
At sunset it must be incredibly beautiful.

Awesome place, one of primary drone and photo spots in Val d'Orcia and the whole Tuscany. Best early in the morning or during the golden hour (before sunset).

We drove through on our way from Siena to Montepulciano, a few years ago. Iconic view, to be sure. You've seen it in ads for high-end European cars. Well worth a detour but as others have said, stop and climb the hill for a better view.

Visit at dusk or as the sun is at least a little lower in the sky.

Directions and parking tips:

There are two cypress tree circles. The one in the field is easily accessible from
The SR2 road, there is a small area to pull up however it gets full. (You’ll see them from the road).

If you want to view trees which aren’t in the field (which I preferred), it’s best to follow the Google maps directions all the way to where it takes you (free parking, 2-4 minute walk thereafter).

Both are a must see if you are in or around D’Orcia in my opinion. If you were to park at Google’s end point, you can also walk a further two minutes past the first circle you come to, to get a view of the circle which is in the field too. (Not as a good an angle as walking to that one from the SR2 pull up point however).

We visited Sunday early Sep- 6:30pm, it was very quiet. 2 or 3 other groups there. Good lighting.

First 2 images show the circle which is on a dirt road (best IMO), 3rd image shows the field circle from the angle approached by walking from the first circle (not the best angle, best from the road)

Hope this helps.

It's mid/late July temp in 30-40 so ground very dry and crops parched, but simply beautiful landscape with plenty cosy little restaurants to sit and enjoy the view with some food and wine.

Magical place. You can access it by car after a short walk from the SR2 but parking could be crowded. I came here by foot from San Quirico. A wonderful but tough run/walk.

Lovely place, even with a major road close by, which makes it easy to get there, but isn't exactly nice to look at. There's not much space where vehicles can park, and the speed limit of 90 km/h makes the spot almost dangerous at times when there are many visitors. Also don't trust the "official website" posted here on Google maps, as it seems that some individuals try to publicize their travel website by pretending to be affiliated with this location.

Beautiful. The view from the road is the one I preferred more, but it's nice to see them from up close as well.

What a magical place! Reaching the location requires to pass by a bumpy road, which may become extremely muddy when it rains. However, during sunny days the visit is totally worth it!

This place looks like a painting. It's definitely worth a visit, but I would recommend visiting in May, in October or early in the morning.

Great view in the middle of the beautiful Tuscan landscape. There are two sets of cypress close to each other, to get to one you must exit main road and drive 3 km on macadam, other is reachable by leaving car on the small parking on the main road. Worth it. Fields were yellow in august, guess it's breathtaking in spring.

Unbeliviable sight which is worth planning your whole trip around, like 3 michelin stars. One of those 1000 things to see in your life.

Easy access from Rome/Firenze by car. If time you could try area's wines.
