What a magnificent, genuine experience. They only speak Italian, but explain menu well. Extremely friendly and gracious.
The restaurant is in the family’s home. Husband serves and wife is the chef. She is truly gifted. Obviously fresh ingredients. Well executed presentation. Every course was memorably delicious.
It was the most genuine experience that I have had at a restaurant.

The most incredible authentic dining experience I've had in Italy... And everywhere else really. Gianluca, the owner, creator and sommelier of this little gem is just too good to be real. The world needs more people like him! I won't go on about the food cos just go there and try it, it will blow your mind! But I will go on about Gianluca, an amazing human who is so caring, inspiring and passionate! If you're lucky enough to travel through Montisi this must be where you go and have dinner! Again and again and again!!! ❤

While visiting a local winery we got a tip for this place from owner’s son. We were not disappointed. Bread served here was the freshest, olive oil was also the best we had in the area, those were great first indications about the place. Cold cut plates here, both vegetarian and meat version were the highlight of the experience for us with various combinations of vegetable, meat, cheese and pastry combined with a great wine.

There is no place like this in Tuscany, homemade food, the owner is a fantastic host with vast knowledge of wines. Ask anything about wines and he knows. We enjoyed one of the best nights in our many trips to Italy. If you are around, "L'Ombelico del Mondo" is a mandatory stop.

So much more than just good food. The ambiance was more than perfect. A hidden garden created a postcard perfect setting. How often does the owner introduce himself in person. Gianluca is the real deal, modest funny and skilfull. He takes you on a food trip trough Tuscani. The menu is told by him as it was a love story. The belly if the world. Grazie!!!!

The food was delicious, and Gianluca is so welcoming that the combination was an unforgettable dining experience. My son said it was his best ever. It’s rare that the proprietor is the server for everyone in the restaurant, but he did it with a relaxed and personable approach. Whenever he mentioned that a dish was his mother’s recipe, it was an easy choice for us. Il Barrino di Montisi is a Tuscan gem.

Great host, amazing food and experience! Will for sure return as soon as possible :). Pasta "al modo mio" is heavenly, my GF almost cried :D.

What a great place, highly recommend it! After already 2,5 weeks in Italy this place managed to surprised us with amazing food and fantastic, very relaxed service. We came with our family and the kids also loved the pasta and steak. Recommendations from the owner, bottles of wine on the table, and the most fresh, tasty food. Fantastic. Go here!

We went last night and were blown away by the experience. Food was amazing, wine was spectacular, but the real winner of the night was Gianluca. He made us feel so welcome and cared for, like we were family. Incredible all around.

It was the most memorable dining experience, in our travels across Tuscany so far. All thanks to Gianluca. A marvellous host, chef, and true gentleman - professional, and passionate about excellent food and faultless service. We couldn’t thank him enough for the delicious meal, the perfectly paired wines, and the warm manner in which he welcomed us into his restaurant. He made us, and the night feel special. I would make a detour to dine here again. Make sure you book ahead. Bellissimo.

Best meal we had in Italy. Gianluca made us feel as if we were guests in his own home, and took pride in the simple yet delicious food. Everything was fantastic!

My wife and I had a fantastic experience. We showed up later in the evening without a reservation which we know we shouldn't have done but figured we would give it a try. The bartender downstairs called up to see if they could accommodate us and, now that we've met Giancarlo, I'm not surprised that he made room for us. The dining room is so warm and cozy and Giancarlo made us feel so welcome. The local wine was delicious and we jumped at the suggestion of his mother's family sauce on the tagliatelle. Everything was delicious and the value was incredible.

Wonderful host, nice location, fantastic food! We have been guests in the trattoria twice and never did the host disappoint us. You can see and feel his passion for food and hospitality in general. His wine recommendations where great and offered superb value for the price. There were delicious options for vegetarian food, too. The second time we came, we brought friends with us. We blindly trusted his proposal for the dishes - and it was fantastic. Thank you for these two unforgettable evenings!

WOW WOW WOW. If you are in the area, this restaurant is a MUST. The service is outstanding, Guanluca is so talented and hospitable, it was hands down one of our best restaurant experiences ever. The food is stunning and you are served based on how hungry you are (great when my boyfriend could eat for England!!). Definitely visit this restaurant if you want to be impressed (and the value for money is outstanding).

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left Gianluca looked after us beautifully, his passion and enthusiasm about the food he serve is on another level, I love when the restaurant doesn’t have Menu and the host just describe what’s on for the day, we were extremely happy about everything and he made me feel proud to be Italian!

A truly magic experience in a real Tuscan “osteria” with a true “oste” that makes dinner a show! Furthermore the food is amazing, the wine is divine and the price is more than fair considering the quantity & quality of what we had. Highly recommended!!!
