This was my happy place. Just incredible to stay in a 14th century castle were the Templers lived. Just outside of Perugia. The inside and outside will blow your mind. The breakfast and staff were fabulous. Beautiful views, you name it. It had it all.

It was cute and pretty old castle hotel! I loved their estate and food. The view was beautiful and peaceful. The staff were very nice and helpful. Their pretzel+croissant was my favorite!

We loved this place. It was clean, comfortable, delightful, and well situated. Everyone who worked here was friendly and helpful.

We dined in the restaurant twice and had breakfast each morning at the castle. One night Tomaso from the restaurant recommended another restaurant to us that was incredible.

We booked two nights and extended to four because of what a fantastic experience we had. When I am back in Umbria, I will stay here again.

Additionally, the pool, hot tub and grounds were very comfortable.

Magical! Friendly and accommodating staff. Pristine grounds. Thoughtful design with many private, pretty areas to relax. Stunning views. Warm and personal service. If anyone can make you feel like a castle is your home...

This place is a wonderful place. The restaurant was absolutely superb as well with the kindest staff.
There was a roaring fire in the reception room which was lovely.
The garden and grounds were lovely to walk around in the morning after breakfast.
The rooms authentic and truly felt like you were staying in a castle.

I do seldom write reviews but in this case I must make an exception.
This hotel is located at a breathtakingly beautiful hill with spectacular views on Perugia. The rooms and the entire castle is so charming, it looks like it has been transported out of a fairytale.

BUT:

what is even more fantastic is the people who work their and the service they provide. The waiters are so friendly you feel like you are having dinner with family and friends.
the staff at reception called us after we checked out because we forgot some items in the room and helped us to package it all up and arrange a courrier to sent it back home.

A big thank you to all the friendly and extremely competent people at the Castello. We will definitely come back soon!

regards

A true castle. The hotel was a highlight of our trip. The owners and staff could not have been more wonderful.

The meals were amazing. I am indebted to them for accommodating my food issues.

The grounds were gorgeous. The room was perfect. The blazing fires in the massive fireplaces kept us toasty warm while playing cards in the lounge. The library called to me, and I lost myself in the books.

Thank you for an incredible four days.

Truly a five-star. For me, five-star + plus. In short, I would not be able to list all of their exceeding beyond customer expectations. Along with a castle that is a castle, views that are sensational, grounds that are immaculate. Last comment, we could stay here for at least two days and not leave for anything.

This small castle is in the perfect location with pristine grounds and spectacular views. We spent each night sipping wine while watching the sun set over the Umbrian countryside. The service was excellent. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay! I only wish we were here in the summer to enjoy the pool.

Spectacular hotel! Best if our 2.5 week stay in Italy! The castle is breathtaking and so unique. Service was impeccable. Food, service and ambiance at the restaurant were top notch. We drove 1 hour out of our way to stay here and it was well worth it, wished we had more time to stay a few more nights! Thanks for a perfect hotel experience!!

Amazing fairytale hotel!
Everything was wonderful, the room was so quiet because of the old thick walls, the bathroom is modern and fully equipped, the hotel Itself is beyond wonderful with amazing restaurant and swimming pool and the most beautiful view of Perugia and the valley.
The staff were friendly and the breakfast is very delicious with a breathtaking view.
Highly recommended and looking forward the next visit

An absolutely charming experience, the only hotel in Umbria that I would return in a heartbeat to.
The rooms are magical, the grounds are magical, the whole experience is like time travel- Perugia is so closeby, the views are amazing, the breakfast was wonderful and delicious (best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had!) and the whole property is a delight.

Filled with surprises and wonderful memories that I will treasure for a lifetime.
A remarkable property. Highly recommended.

Wonderfully reconstructed castle. Staff is friendly location is 15 min from the heart of Perugia which we liked. Views are second to none. A sweet trip to medieval period at comfort of 21st century

Beautifully restored castle with all the conveniences of a modern hotel. The grounds are well manicured and the staff are friendly and attentive. The castle overlooks a beautiful green valley on the edge of Perugia. We didn't eat at the restaurant for dinner but the breakfast buffet had several Italian and american options - everything was delicious. Highly recommend!

A beautiful castle.
You will not fail to be impressed. Awe inspired most likely.
The grounds are beautiful.
Only 18 rooms I understand.
Staff are friendly. Unassuming. Efficient.
Our room was on the ground floor. Not huge but very nice.
Had a lovely small terrace out of the French window. Looked on by any passer by but that is ok when it's so small. It was very hot but the pillars and stone wall offered some respite late afternoon. Perfect for a wine on the terrace.
All the walls are castle stone and timber beamed ceiling. Lack of power point by the bed bit that's to be expected.
Fresh chocolates every day.
A couple of complimentary 330ml bottles of water in the minibar too.
Room freshly made to good standard every day.
Breakfast was a simple buffet mostly due to covid.
Offered coffee on arrival but thought that could have been followed up.
Views are beautiful. Over the valley to Perugia. Outstanding even.
Pool is nice. Not too many beds but we never had an issue. All kept spotless
Restaurant was exceptional.
Ate there once in 5 days. Couldn't fault it. Food outstanding and wines lovely. Sommelier knew his stuff and happy to oblige with recommendations. In reality not expensive for the quality.
Observations...
You are a little cut off.
Perugia is a 25min walk along a busy road. Taxi will cost 20€.
You could stay one or 2 nights and be happy to eat there. But there's more to see and do in Perugia. Or Stella in Casaglia which was sublime.
The place kind of shuts down outside breakfast lunch or dinner times.
They could do with staff coming around asking if anyone wants anything. When you ask they are courteous and prompt. But we had to look for service.
All in all a wonderful and awe inspiring place to stay. Easy going and friendly. Not presumptuous.
Give it a go.
I'd be very happy to stay there again for a night or 2 but would seek something more central for longer.
5 stars to Castillo Di Monterone.

PS. They went out of their way to accommodate a revised booking due to covid changes. The service was outstanding.

We had a beautiful view at sunset and the dinner was excellent. The waiter was helpful as we did not speak Italian. If you are near here. Make plans for a wonderful dinner. The prices were very reasonable.
