Orto Osteria dalla terra

Despite being a local from Gubbio and thinking to go for dinner at ORTO for 3-4 years, finally, this is the night!
The restaurant is located in a lovely city centre street of Gubbio designed following a rough minimal style for the rooms.
We booked in advance and the welcome from the staff was nice and warm. Unfortunately, the outdoor tables in the lovely side street (called "vicolo") were fully booked but the spot for us indoors was in a room with a perfect temperature during a very hot summer night.
The full vegetarian menu is super interesting, pretty unusual for a restaurant in Umbria, but it presents some fantastic features. We decided to go for 2 starters to split among the three of us selecting the Hummus with veggies and the baked egg with truffle. The Hummus was a chickpeas cream rather than an actual hummus (there was a lack of all the Middle Eastern spices) but the mix with the crunchy vegetables was nice. The egg was extraordinary instead, with a very rich taste and a liquid yolk that was melting with the cheese.
As main dishes we have got the following courses:
Gazpacho with tomato, melon and pearl barley was great with a little touch of acidity coming from the tomato sauce that was making the difference.
Passatelli with eggplant cream and courgette blossom flowers was amazing too but the passatelli was too much "al dente".
Cacio e pepe spaghetti with black pepper and mint was a very interesting mix that I really enjoyed but, once again, the pasta was a bit too "al dente" for my personal taste.
We decide to share a dish of falafels with pepper cream, pinenuts and raisins was light and fresh and we finished it even if we were already a bit too full at that point.
Once we come to the desserts, my cheesecake was a bit disappointing for the cream part because was the raw version (I prefer the cooked version!), the matches with the flat peaches were interesting but they were raw too (maybe a flambé version with a bit of sweet sauce would give it a perfect boost?). On the opposite side of the table, something was happening and one of the dinner partners stated her Crème Brûlée as "The best dessert ever had!".
For drinks, we have got single glasses of 3 different types of wines (my sparkling wine was good but it changed taste after a few hours due to the summer temperature so is suggested to get the bottle with the proper ice bucket in case you want to pick the bubbles).

Generally, the service was nice and flawless but we would appreciate a bit more engagement and dish explanation.

The final surprise is the bill: 95 euros! NO, this is not a typo! I know, I know is just vegetarian food but 30ish euros per person for such a lovely experience is the perfect quality/price ratio.

I will be back for sure to try the rest of the menu and the eventual fall/winter menu!!!

Incredibile experience! You won't be able to find a better vegetarian/vegan restaurant nearby or maybe in Italy altogether. Every single dish was exceptional, service delightful, great interior design and unbelievable attention to details.
Try it before they get all the Micheline starts they deserve and everything is 3 times more expressive. I'm definitely coming back!

The food is incredible and gave for a new dimension to vegetarian food. The hosts are very friendly and the place nice to sit. Reservations are mostly needed.

Simply outstanding food. Forget the vegetarian tag this place is worth a visit by all. We ordered four different plates and my wife and I can’t decide which one was the best.

We had a wonderful experience at Osteria dalla terra. Everything was delicious and beautiful, from the antipasti to the dolci. An amazing spot for vegetarians, but I'm sure even for those who aren't. The service was great : sweet and attentive. I don't often write reviews about restaurants, but I really wanted to for this one, because it's a real gem.

We had a wonderful dinner experience at Orto last night! We were pleasantly surprised to find a vegetarian restaurant in this part of Gubbio, and wanted to definitely try it. The ambience is simple yet elegant, the service is great, the presentation is beautiful. We had the lasagna, lentil burger, and gnocchi pasta dish. The flavors in all the dishes were very rich and indicative of the use of fresh local ingredients! At the end, we ordered a warm cake filed with pistachio sauce served with vanilla ice cream topped with strawberry and pistachio sauces for dessert which was totally a party in the mouth! When my wife told our hostess it was my birthday, the wonderful lady was so kind to bring the cake with a candle, singing and even turned down the lights. Overall, an awesome experience!

Excellent cuisine (all vegetarian!) made with local products. Really warm and friendly personnel. Excellent value for money. Without any doubt one of if not the best restaurant in town.

Great food, 100% vegetarian, we had a wonderfull time, perfect combinations, exciting and surprising dishes, good wine, excellent and friendly staff, anticipating our needs perfectly. Immediately made a reservation for another perfect evening !
