Hotel Rifugio Prategiano

Beautiful views, authentic Tuscan food. A lot of activities around (horse riding, bike riding). Very cozy and family like experience.

Edit: we returned here after one year and then again after two years. The hotel didn't change but the prices went up a bit (e.g. horse lessons €30 from €25).
It is still very good quality and I highly recommend it.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for a long weekend end of August. The weather in the cities around was quite hot, but the hotel was around 25 degree, which was perfect for stay. The breakfast was included and the view at the balcony was nice. The wifi was not that good but if we stay in open area it was a bit better. We took the horse riding beginner lessons and outside ride. The horses were very friendly and easy to control. The level of beginner lessons is indeed for absolute beginner. The downside is the hotel is located far from the cities that we were driving at least one hour to reach any city.

We (family, two adults and two kids) spent one week at Prategiano in July 2021 and we are extremely happy with our choice.

- Horse riding activities (both lessons and excursions) are extremely well organised and flexible (we could decide in the evening what to do on the following day). Several horses are available, and the staff is competent, fluent in several languages, friendly, and very professional with riders at all levels.
- Also bicycle excursions are worth trying, the equipment available was good quality (my bicycle was brand new) and the guide friendly and patient
- Hotel is very nice, swimming pool area is new and extremely big. Breakfast and dinner were very good and menu changed every day. Service was excellent and the atmosphere comfortable and informal. Our room was probably not the newest one in the hotel, but it was very big (we had an apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living room), and ultimately well worth the price we paid
- Location was also a pleasant surprise. You do have a few villages (e.g. Montieri) close by, but make sure you are ready for a drive of 30+ minutes until Massa Marittima if you want to see something bigger. We ultimately liked the feeling of being isolated from the rest, with nature around us taking the main role

In short, we had an experience we are happy to recommend to others. A big thank you to the entire staff of Prategiano.

We stayed here for more than a week and the bottom line is that it’s a great place! The brothers Andrea and Emilio, who run the place, are so customer-oriented and so warm-hearted!

As a suggestion for the hotel: Make bigger tables (or one big table) in the restaurant to stop excluding the customers, who travel alone.

It’s our 3rd holiday we spend in this beautiful wild side of Italy and each time we can’t miss a break in this lovely cozy hotel after our trip to Rome, Pisa or Florence because it is half way from each and perfect for relaxing in the pool or in one of the outdoor warm hydromassage minipool.

Food is amazing and they also have a very interesting wine list!

This time we’ve tried a longer riding journey nearby this mountain to one of the rivers..with a very nice and delicious picnic!

Already booked our next stay on October and we will definitely try their amazing new e-bikes tours too!!!

Very nice hotel, location is superb and the team is really nice and hoste.
Enjoyed the horse trips and touring around.

Stunning part of the world!

Super Stützpunkt zum Reiten und auch zum Biken in einer wilden Landschaft. Ein Geheimtipp ohne Trubel und Massentourismus. Das Abendessen sowie das Frühstück schmeckt hervorragend und das Personal ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Wir kommen wieder 💯👌.

Bellissimo hotel immerso nel verde delle colline toscane..... Ottimo ristorante con piatti tipici del posto........noleggio bici vicinanza al mare, circa 10 km e passeggiate a cavallo completano la vacanza ideale

Un rifugio splendido tra la natura incontaminata dell'alto grossetano. Paesaggio splendido con bellissimi trekking che partono dalla struttura. Ho prenotato la mezza pensione, cucina semplice ma molto buona con prodotti a km 0. Lo consiglio

Vacanze splendide! Il posto è immerso nella natura, lontano dal caos cittadino, ideale per una settimana di relax tra piscina, escursioni e MTB. Le escursioni a cavallo sono state un'esperienza unica, con guide competenti e preparate. Ottimo anche come punto di partenza per gite fuori porta, al mare, in città d'arte o borghi storici, facilmente raggiungibili in auto.
Camera piccolina, ma pulita e confortevole. La terrazza offre una vista panoramica sulla valle, fantastica all'ora di cena, quando il sole tramonta... Cucina abbondante e buona, con piatti tipici, in particolare ho apprezzato la possibilità di scegliere anche un menù completamente vegetariano.
Il personale è gentile, preparato, simpatico, accogliente... Mi sono sentita a casa! Non vedo l'ora di tornare...

Unser Aufenthalt im Hotel Prategiano war von Anfang bis Ende super schön. Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt und willkommen geheißen. Sowohl das Ausleihen eines Fahrrades als auch das Reiten liefen ohne Probleme ab. Auch wenn wir spontan etwas umorganisieren wollten, waren alle sehr bemüht, unseren Wunsch zu ermöglichen. Auch das Abendessen war sehr lecker und die Bedienungen freundlich und hilfsbereit. Im Hotel wurde für mich stets ein familiäres und herzliches Gefühl transportiert, was sehr angenehm war.
Das einzige Manko war das Frühstück, hier wäre etwas mehr Auswahl/Abwechslung noch schöner gewesen.

Außerdem ist die Lage des Hotels traumhaft: Es ermöglicht einen Weitblick über die toskanische Landschaft, was zum Reiten, Wandern oder Radfahren wunderschön ist. Auch wenn man einfach nur die Seele baumeln lassen will, ist hier der perfekte Ort dafür.
Außerdem sind mit dem Auto alle Sehenswürdigkeiten gut zu erreichen.

Alles in Allem ist der Aufenthalt hier eine absolute Herzensempfehlung!

Un posto incantevole, con persone meravigliose. Ci si sente subito “in famiglia” e i proprietari dell’attività, 3 generazioni presenti, sono molto accoglienti e disponibili. Nonostante la nostra vacanza cadesse negli infernali 10 giorni centrali di agosto, regnava comunque una quiete impagabile. Favorita da ampi spazi nel giardino ed una bella piscina, il tutto molto curato e pulito.
Ottimi gli istruttori di equitazione, Kaja e Marco, e l’organizzazione delle lezioni e delle escursioni a cavallo nei boschi.
Anche il ristorante ed il servizio bar non hanno mai deluso!
Consiglio e di sicuro ritornerò!

Bel panorama, c’è la piscina e tanti giochi per i bimbi ,posto tranquillo,ideale per andare a cavallo o andare in bici ,attrezzati ad ogni esigenza . Ottima la colazione e pure la cena

Che dire esperienza indimenticabile.
Abbiamo scelto il Rifugio Prategiano perchè volevamo fare le passeggiate a cavallo negli splendidi paesaggi toscani.
La struttura è posizionata in mezzo alla natura e regala dei tramonti mozzafiatto quasi ogni sera. Il personale è molto cordiale e preparato, ma soprattutto ti fanno sentire a casa. Entrando al Prategiano entri a far parte di una famiglia che da generazioni ci mette anima e corpo in quello che fa, ed è possibile percepire questa passione in tutti i dipendenti. Il cibo meriterebbe una recensione tutta sua visto che in 7 giorni di soggiorno abbiamo potuto assaggiare vari piatti tipici toscani che lasciavano senza parole, non c'è stata una sera in cui la cena ci abbia lasciati insoddisfatti. Veramente TOP.
Le passeggiate a cavallo mi hanno aperto un mondo in quanto per me è stata la prima volta in sella ad un cavallo. Le guide sono molto competenti e preparate.
In conclusione mi sento di consigliare questa struttura a tutti, per tutto quello che ha da offrire.
E state sicuri che vi porterete a casa dei ricordi indimenticabili. Posso solo dire grazie a tutto lo staff dell'Hotel Rifugio Prategiano!

Sehr tolles Hotel in einer der schönsten Gegenden Italiens. Wer Natur sucht und etwas aktiv sein möchte (reiten, biken, wandern etc...) ist hier am richtigen Ort! Das Personal ist sehr freundlilch und hilfsbereit. Das Essen schmeckte super! Das Hotel ist sehr gepflegt und man fühlt sich sehr wohl.

Ich persönlich war hauptsächlich für das Reiten da. Als Anfänger konnte ich zuerst einige Reitstunden besuchen und alles wurde bestens erklärt und vermittelt. Die Pferde werden den ganzen Tag sehr gut betreut und haben sehr grosse Weiden für weiten Auslauf. Die Ausritte waren sehr schön und man konnte die Natur der Toskana geniessen (Wildschweine, tolle Aussichten und kleine Dörfer ohne grossen Tourismus, etc...). Besonders kann ich auch die Picknicks auf den Tagesritten empfehlen! :)

Als Alleinreisender (Mai 2022) kann ich diesen Ort nur empfehlen und werde definitiv wieder kommen! Besten Dank nochmals an alle Angestellten und besonders dem Stall-Team für eine unvergessliche Woche! ;)

Ho scelto questa struttura per trascorrere una settimana nell'alta Maremma da esplorare in bici da strada. Hotel immerso nella natura e in posizione panoramica, caratterizzato dal fascino e la tranquillità dei rifugi di montagna. La struttura è gestita da ragazzi simpatici, gentili e molto disponibili che con dedizione e passione curano la struttura e organizzano molte attività dall'equitazione alle escursione in MTB; per le quali hanno anche tracciato e curano una serie di sentieri e singletrack che si snodano dalla cima della più alta tra le colline metallifere, sulla quale sorge l'Hotel, da sfruttare anche grazie alle MTB elettrice disponibili in struttura.
Comunque non manca materiale per dei bellissimi giri su asfalto, su strade dall'ottimo fondo, immerse nella natura delle riserve naturali dove si incontrano 2 auto all'ora e per borghi ricchi di fascino. Riguardo a questo punto un sentito ringraziamento ad Andrea per i consigli e per l'aiuto nell'individuare le indispensabili fontanelle lungo il percorso. Se viaggiate con la bici troverete una stanza chiusa, con officina annessa, dove poter riporre la bici.
Ottima la cucina e l'offerta della colazione che ogni giorno proponeva una scelta di torte fatte in casa.
Questo hotel è stata una bellissima scoperta, un gruppo di ragazzi che mi hanno regalato giorni spensierati, sereni e divertenti, un'esperienza da ripetere.
