Unique castle sitting on its own island, reachable only by walking across the path that connects it to the main island. Great views as you climb your way to the top, but it was quite a hike to go all the way up, especially in the heat. Nicely there are 2 cafes along the way to offer refreshment.

Worth a detour to come and visit here. €12 per adult is absolutely worth it. We spent about 2 hours here. The crowds were not too busy first week of June. A lots of steps, but there is also a lift for people who need it. Plenty of places for a comfort break. The views are stunning.
2 lovely cafes. Very helpful and friendly staff.
An easy 5* review!

A beautiful castle full of interesting history and it provides breathtaking views from above. We visited in the evening time around 6pm so it wasn’t busy and we could move around at our leisure. The price is €12 per adult to enter.

Beautiful castle and experience. Allocate 1.5-2h for the tour. The brochure you receive from the ticket office is very informative and prepares you for the walk. The path is circular, well organized and signaled. Enjoy a unique setting and stunning views along the way. Immerse in history with every visiting point. You can even stop for a short break and drink, as there are multiple restaurants and bars nicely integrated on the path.

Was a bit like a labyrinth with many rooms, stairs, gardens and art to be discovered. We stayed there around 3 hours and definitely can recommend it highly.
There are two designated cafes with some food offerings as well. Our favorite drink was the Spremuta Orange.
All in all perfect for a day trip.

The door in the central cafe needs some oil- see the attached video for a better understanding.

EXTRA: I have uploaded the brochure for anyone who would like to have a look at the attractions that are inside.
________
A must view place if you are in Ischia!
It is a stunning architectural marvel with cafes, bookstores and an amazing history behind it.

The view from the castle is breathtaking and the gardens are well kept.

There is a hotel located inside of the castle with lifts until reception. This means you can at least go until that viewpoint if you have mobility issues. Tickets are still the same price as there is no reduction for disability or congestion.

Island Sanctuary with Centuries of Noble Castle and Church History. Loved the wild rabbits, as well as strolling around the beautiful Island having quality time to soak in the views. The island offers 2 very nice breakfast and afternoon stops with exceptional views and restrooms for taking a break. Stay a few nights and enjoy a nine course dinner and more of the island views at sunset.

One of the most iconic places of the Ischia island. I honestly have not visited the castle itself from the inside, but the surrounding are breathtaking. The bridge and the streets in front of the castle are absolute beautiful with great atmosphere.

Breathtaking Views at Castello Aragonese in Ischia

Visiting Castello Aragonese in Ischia was an unforgettable experience. The panoramic views from the castle are simply breathtaking, offering stunning vistas of the turquoise sea and the picturesque island landscape. The historic charm of the castle itself, combined with the serene beauty of its surroundings, made for a perfect day of exploration. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Ischia!

The historic Aragonese castle built upon a small rocky islet at the end of Ponte Aragonese. It is quite a sight to behold.

I took the bus there to check it out, but sadly did not feel up to the steep climb as I had ruptured my Achilles’ tendon and was experiencing some pain. Even so, I sat at the end of the causeway with an ice cream and took in the beauty of this place, imagining its history. I then googled it to fill in the gaps.

This is a good castle!

It’s beautiful and very very big. There is two routes to get up, but only 1 is obvious. Get ready to walk up a lot of stairs. After we reached the top we realised there was a lift.

Most of the walk up is in the shade so it’s not bad, but get ready. The interior of the castle is limited and majority is outside.

The torture museum on the way up though is enlightening

Spent roughly 3 hours exploring leisurely and relaxing at the two cafes. I suggest visiting around 3pm (or before sunset) and drinking cocktail/coffee while enjoying the views. History leaflet and points of interest are also good.

Magnificent views! This ancient town and castle are an incredible experience. The views from above are truly magnificent. There are a cafe and cafeteria on site for very good food and drink. Be prepared to get in some climbing steps. There is a lot of walking involved, but it's really a double advantage. You're getting great exercise while enjoying wonderful scenery.

Had a great time walking around the Castillo Aragonese d’Ischia. The views of the surrounding my Islands and of Ischia were very beautiful. There were lovely gardens on site, it was pretty cool to learn about the mid-evil times and learn about some of the rich history there. Felt like going back into time a bit, I would not want to be there hundreds of years ago, but it was great to visit now a days.

Two cafes and bars on site, elevator access, bathrooms, gallery, bookstores are also available to enjoy while on site. Admission was about $10 Euros a person.

Well planned exhibition and trail from point to point. Each point ia different and well explained.
The view was fantastic and as you move you see different areas.
Climbing was easier than expected. 3 cafeterias on different heights made resting enjoyable.

Absolutely stunning views and amazing history in the castle. We had quite a big wait for tickets, but once you get past that, it's very open, and you can go at your own pace. You have to leave prams by the ticket office and carry baby so I'd suggest planning for that in advance.
There are some areas with shade but some areas with a lot of direct sun.
2 lovely bars/cafes with gorgeous views, well worth a stop on your way round. The guidebook you get when purchasing tickets gives lots of good information and is easy to follow.

Grand, chock-full of history and simply beautiful.

The castle offers many bits of history on the countless rooms and spaces and tons of absolutely stunning views of the surrounding area.

A large amount of your visit will be spent on the outside so be sure to dress according to the weather, but there are frequent breaks of indoor sections, which provide much needed shade and cool air.
There's also a few cafés and a restaurant on site, lots of opportunities for going to the bathroom and plenty of sitting spaces to make the 2 km long walk a bit easier on the body.

This is THE highlight of the island, so definitely make sure to visit!

Lots of stairs and walking. There is an elevator if you have an any issues with walking. Views are incredible and perfect for pictures. I advise going early or in the evening as it was way to hot in the afternoon. There is a booth that sells water for $1.

Bring a small towel cause you will sweat 😂
