Locanda di Orta

Fantastic location in a fantastic little town on the Lago di Orta. A bit touristy but then again this is what we came for. Loved the room with the jacuzzi, and indeed it is a bit noisy when dinner is finishing up but we loved the dinner on the rooftop ourselves so no complaints. Service was impeccable and we enjoyed dinner at the bistro and the view! Great wine list also . Pity breakfast only starts at 08.30 as we had an early departure. Great hotel, great bistro, will be back for the Michelin star restaurant!

We had the 5 course menu of chefs choice. The whole experience was brilliant, I couldn’t recommend it enough. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The young waiter was excellent and did the role perfectly. The food was fantastic like nothing I’ve had before. The wine pairing is worth doing and really added to the experience. Thank you.

A fabulous restaurant, nestled in a beautiful building in the center of the town. The setting is just perfect - a tiny stone staircase, open brickwork, a fireplace and tables dressed with white linen and delicate chinaware.
The meal was beautiful with each dish exhibiting skills and techniques in presentation and flavour.
We loved every dish and enjoyed the subtle flavours hidden in each one such as smoked beetroot, macaroons with thyme, lamb with pea and pistachio.
The staff are wonderful- they spoke knowledgeably about the dishes and the specialist suppliers such as the cheese producer.
All in all a wonderful meal - we are already planning a return visit.

The hotel is very close to the lake.

Our room (number 9) was quite small, but comfortable.
It has a special amenity, a jacuzzi installed in the balcony. So you can relax, taking a hot bath outside looking at the mountain and lake.

The real surprise is the restaurant connected to the hotel.

It has a very limited number of tables (we counted 5).
The service and the food are excellent.

We took a tasting menu with different selection of wines.

Everything was perfect.

It was a very good experience.
Every plate was carefully cooked, prepared and explained by the staff when arrived to the table.

Cost wise is very reasonable, considering the high-level restaurant.

After all the food and the wine, you can take a nice walk around the village on the lake before going back to your room.

If you are around that area, I strongly recommend you this food-experience.

Very subtle and imaginative kitchen, the chef is an artist playing with your palate, seducing you such that you can’t wait for the next surprising dish. Sarah makes child play of the difficult task of marrying the dishes with wine. Top performance, very enjoyable.

Room a bit small but okay as the main purpose was the restaurant.

Amazing technical skills, clean perfect flavours combined in elegant and perfect creations from chef Andrea Monesi.

One to remember!

Delicious and intimate 5 course chefs meal. Beware it’s not the easiest to get to. Park close by and walk into the old town to get there.

We tried the roof-top brasserie. The view of the lake and the island is spectacular.
Food was excellent and so was the service.
Prices are rather on the high-end, but the quality of the food and the service are worth.

We tried the gourmet restaurant, 1 star Michelin. The food, service and atmosphere were perfect. We had the menu with wine pairing which is a good match.
You may not have a lake view but emotion is happening in the plate in front of you.

Locanda Orta is just about perfect. It is located in the middle of the village, a short walk from restaurants, walking paths and the marina. The room we stayed in was large and had a whirlpool bath and balcony. Breakfasts were delightful on the rooftop terrace. We had a wonderful meal at the bistrot. The staff are friendly and helpful. We will return as soon as possible.

Great place for a special dinner in Orta San Giulio. The menu changes regularly and can be desctibed as creative yet never excessively so. Ingredientes are always high quality and often local. Had some really outstanding dishes, and some really good ones. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and passionate and can help you discover some local gems, very farly priced. Overall consider a budget of about 90 Euros per person, with 2 courses, dessert and wine, totally worth it.

One if the best hotels I've ever been to. Perfect view from the rooftop terrace where breakfast takes place. Excellent service, very clean. Hotel rooms include everything one would need.

Great place and fantastic food. Capesante with verza in easy bagna cauda are a must. You definely need to try them. You want to try the 7 courses chef menu with paired wines (yes, it comes with a total of 7 glasses of wine!), being sure to book a room upstairs so there's no need for driving.

Tesse is a "Stellato Michelin" 's chef, his dishes aren't simply a meal, they are an experience that everyone should try. A must do in Orta.
