Here is a wonderful place for enjoying the beautiful scenery of Lago d'Orta. Everyday many people sit on the chairs in the square to take sunshine and enjoy landscape. There are some good restaurants around Piazza Motta. It will be very nice to have a slow lunch in one of them in a sunny weekend. That is exactly what batter life means. People can take boat to the island in the middle of the lake as well.

Lovely spot and amazing day at lago d'orta. You can't go wrong by spending the whole day around the square, visiting shops, restaurants, churches and cafes. The islanf of San Giulio is just a swim away, or conveniently reachable by taking a ferry or private boat. From the square you can also hike up to a church and to a convent, located on the top of Orta. Parking is only allowed a bit far away from the square, and be ready for a nice and comfortable walk.

This location on the side of the beautiful Lake Orta was recommended by several friends. They were completely justified in saying that a visit would be repayed by memories of wonderful scenery and historic buildings. A short taxi boat ride gives access to the island opposite the square. Here, one can visit the ornate church and wander peacefully around the streets, which are dedicated to silence.
Parking above the small town is limited and must be paid for. The nachines accept cards. Registration details have to be entered.
The wider area includes a World Heritage Site

Love the quiet pizza where you can relax from the fast pace of big cities. Nice leisurely stroll though the small streets offering shops of all sorts. Plenty of places for eating, gelato, or drinks. There is also a cheap water taxi service that takes you to the island where you can stroll some more.

Absolutely stunning. Be aware there will be schools are making field trips with a lots of young voices.

Seems like a central place in Orta. Restaurants, some souvenir shops, you can also buy the boat tickets there.

Orta San Giulio is one of my favourite places in Piemont region. It is not too crowded and the Lago d'Orta is at least as wonderful as the Maggiore or Lago di Como. This little Piazza offers awesome restaurants and the possibility to take a boat to San Giulio. Please keep in mind that it is quite expensive to park you car in the parking house (2€/h). Better to stay a bit outside and walk in .

Orta is realy a magic place! From the square you have a beautiful view of the Island that at sunset is even more wonderful.

Orta San Giulio is a part of the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The main square is " Piazza Motta " which is facing the lake, from here you can take the boat to the Island of San Giulio. This square is surrounded by historical buildings, several restaurants, ice cream shops and souvenir shops. It's a small town with narrow alleys, the alleys are parallel to the lake shore. Worth visiting !
