Sarteano Castle

Sarteano Castle was my favorite castle to visit in this region. It is in excellent condition and nestled atop a wooded hill. It feels like you're visiting a fairy tale. I recommend bringing a picnic as there are some lovely places to eat and the views are breath taking.

Well, though it’s empty on the inside, it gives you a good sense of how things were arranged back in the time it was an operational fortress. Each level has a description of its function and utility. So, with a little bit of imagination it could serve as time machine to the medieval.

I loved this castle. As you climb the levels it is easy to imagine how they felt living in the place day to day and also how it must have felt during times of conflict. There are five levels with good descriptions of life there and incredible views of the countryside for miles. I really felt the past come alive. I highly suggest visiting this castle and this town. I saw a little Osteria that looked like it would be great but we were late and purchased two kinds of fresh pasta to cook when we got home. I think I ate at least a pound of it. Great town!

Hidden gem of a town. Montepuciano is beautiful but if you want to see something with it's own authentic charm then Sarteano should be on your list.

Castello molto ben tenuto che domina Sarteano, completamente visitabile sui 4 livelli, con vista magnifica sul paese e sulla natura circostante. È anche una location molto interessante per mostre.
Un plus il custode all'ingresso, personaggio prodigo di informazioni sulla storia del luogo.

Wenn man in Sarteano ist, muss man unbedingt die Burg besichtigen. Vom Dorf geht man ein paar Minuten rauf. Der Eintritt kostet € 4,--, aber ist es allemal wert. Die Burg ist auf 4 Etagen aufgeteilt und man kann alles besichtigen. Man kann es sich gut vorstellen, wie es früher war. Ganz oben hat man einen wunderschõnen Ausblick und kann die Altstadt schõn anschauen. Es gab auch ein Taubenhaus um mit anderen Schlössern zu kommunizieren. Eine enge Fluchtwendeltreppe erstreckte sich von oben bis nach ganz unten.
An bestimmten Infotafeln gibt es QR Codes wo man die Geschichte in seiner Sprache lesen kann, wirklich intetessant.

Scoperto quasi casualmente, nella strada di ritorno da un giro nella val d'Orcia, ho trovato questo bel borgo mediavale (Sarteano) ed il suo Castello. Si staglia in una posizione dalla quale si evede tutta la vallata sottostante, con un panorama bellissimo. Lo stato di conservazione del castello è ottimo: si può accedere e visitarlo a parteire dalle ore 10.00 al costo di 4 euro, per una visita di 30/40 minuti (io purtroppo non sono riuscito per questione di tempo a disposizione). Si può arrivare alle pendici dello stesso con l'auto o direttamente a piedi, soluzione che consiglio anche se faticosa: facendo un giro per il borgo e risalendo fin su al Castello si può apprezzare la bellezza del centro storico. L'area antistante al Castello è un bel parco in cui si può anche sostare. Consigliatissimo

Meraviglioso. Biglietto di 4 euro, gratis per bambini fino a 10 anni. Si accede alle stanze del castello disposte su 4 livelli. Al terzo e quarto piano si accede alla torre e terrazze esterne rispettivamente, godendo di una vista impagabile sulla Valdichiana. Per i più agili consiglio di uscire dalla scala a chiocciola, angusta e piena di fascino. Ci si immagina in fuga nella via d'uscita segreta quando gli attaccanti hanno avuto la meglio. Risveglia il bambino che c'è in ognuno di noi...

Il castello è veramente bello e ben conservato, il custode è l'essenza e l'anima del castello stesso.

Luogo incredibile e castello fantastico. All'ingresso si incontra una persona molto gentile e scherzosa che spiega, anche in modo divertente, la struttura e la storia del Castello di Sarteano. Ben conservato e molto suggestivo! Vivamente consigliata la visita di questo posto!!

Mooi kasteel waarvan je een toren kan beklimmen. Zeer vriendelijke man die de kinderen hun naam liet schrijven en vervolgens vertaalde naar het schrift van 3000 jaar geleden. Het uitzicht is echt prachtig!

Schönes gepflegtes Castle. Ein Herr der vermutlich die Burg verwaltet gab uns auf englisch ein paar Infos. Man kann die Burg komplett besichtigen und hat einen fantastischen Weitblick von ganz oben. Auf jeder Ebene sind ein paar Infos auf einem Schild. Wir fanden es lohnt sich. Eintritt 4€ pro Person.

Il Castello di Sarteano è un luogo affascinante, situato in cima al bel paese medievale e in mezzo alla natura. Castello su tre livelli ben conservato, suggestiva la vista sul paese di Sarteano. Da visitare assolutamente.
