We had a great day at the winery. Our experience started with the owner giving us a tour of the different locations they grow the grapes and the olives. The scenery was beautiful and we learnt about the local grapes and olives. We also got to see how the wine is made. Afterwards we had an amazing four course meal with five types of wine to pair it with. The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable and our group of 9 people was very happy we chose this vineyard to visit. I can definitely recommend it to anyone who is in the region and would like a unique local experience.

Montioni is consistently fabulous!
We’ve taken many visitors for the Wonderful Tour of the vineyards, olive grove, wine and oil production areas and then had the amazing the lunch prepared by the Paolo’s mother, with the wine tasting. Every visit has been outstanding! Marianna and Jessica are knowledgeable, English speaking guides.
Paolo’s enthusiasm and love for what he does ensures that the guided experience, the wine and food is outstanding.

Truly an amazing experience! Jessica, our host speaks fluent English, is very knowledgeable, and made the entire experience a lot of fun. We toured the vineyards and olive groves, the wine cellar, and the olive oil production. All of that was followed by the wine and olive oil tasting paired with delicious food. Very well worth our time and highly recommended.

Absolutely incredible winery! We have visited many wineries across Tuscany but Montioni was so personal and the service, wines, and tour were amazing! We had a five course lunch that was delicious meats, pasta, and a savory pork. All prepared on site by family, it had a great touch. The wine is so smooth and some of the best I have had from the region. Prices are unbeatable and it truly is a great buy. Highly recommend their location, tour, and wines!!!

Great experience! Absolutely recommended. The tour, the organization, the lunch (they say it's a light lunch, but believe me it's not 😁), the wines. So if you are in Umbria looking for an authentic experience don't hesitate to stop by.

Magnificent winery with very tasteful wines and very friendly and helpful staff ! We visited the winery in June 2020, during the corona crisis, but this was not a problem!
The lady of the house gave us a lot of explanation and we could taste all the wines they are producing.
The wines are delicious! We really recommend to pay a visit to this winery if you are in the region!

Visited June 2023. My wife and I recently stayed in Montefalco while exploring Umbria for a couple of weeks. We decided to stop by the Montioni Winery to have a wine tasting of their offerings. The winery is conveniently close to Montefalco.
It was late afternoon so there were no crowds and we had the pleasure of a personal wine tasting. We were offered four of their wines to taste and also some of the olive oil that they produce. The young lady assisting us was very personable and knowledgeable, and did a great job explaining each wine/oil we were tasting. It was a great experience and visit - we would certainly recommend it. We ended up purchasing a bottle of their Sagrantino Passito and a small can of their olive oil to take home as consumable souvenirs.

Incredible experience, Paolo is very passionate about his wines and olive oil. The lunch was wonderful as were the wines. Shipped both wine and olive oil back home to the states.

Today we had the experience of a lifetime. It is the experience by which other future experiences will be judged. We went on the Emotional Tour of Montioni Winery. It was truly the best experience we have had in a very long time.

Paolo is a very knowledgeable person when it come to wine and olive oil making, and business, and life. The most wonderful part is that he communicates his crafts and heritage in such a positive and genuine way that you feel like you are talking with an old friend. He is truly a MASTER.

We arrived for our tour, and there were many people going on the tour of the vineyards and olive groves. He made us fee special through his mannerisms and story telling. He included us rather than just talking to us.

But now on to the sights, sounds, smells and tastes.

We learned about several varieties of grape and how their growing conditions and harvest times are. We were invited to taste each variety of grape and "assess" the taste. He helped us along. It was so very cool. We could taste the difference in the grapes and then taste similar differences in the wine. We learned that by having the correct plot of ground for grape growing it could be done without pesticides or chemicals, and that is Paolo's way.

Next we visited the olive groves. We saw trees that were 200 plus years old that were so cared for like children. The views of Umbria were spectacular from the olive grove.

Next we learned how the products in the fields were turned into wine and olive oil and how the remnants of production were used as fertilizer in the fields. What a process. Machine to machine to press, and extract the olive oil and to ferment and age the wine. WOW, Who knew. I loved the learning.

Now for the best part. We shared in food and wine with the other guests and Paolo and his family cared for our every need with plates of cheese, meats, and fruit, eggs, and bread, and olive oil and wine. As my father says, "it was a gustatory orgasm". The food was spectacular, the wine was superb, and the olive oil was far and away the best we have ever had.

We left feeling full in our bellies, fully in our minds and the best part full and well cared for by an amazing man and his family.

Thanks Paolo. You are a truly amazing man.

David and Suzanne.

Originally they produced olive oil but now making good wine too. Very friendly family owned place with warm welcome. You should surely visit if you go to Montelalco. Not only red but their Grechetto is nice too.
