Discover Messina Sicily

We went to Messina as one of our cruise stops and took the Private Sword fishing tour of Messina. Now we want to go back to stay. The area is beautiful and if Sara and the fishermen as any indication of how friendly the locals are, then this would be an amazing place to live. My family (Me, Husband, 15 yr old son and Sister) all enjoy saltwater fishing. It was incredible to be so close to the land and catch these deepwater fish. We were on board and got to see them spear 3 swordfish. Sara did a great job translating for us and allowed us to have some great discussions with the fishermen.
For our lunch time break, Sara kindly offered to let us have lunch with her family. Her mom's cooking was amazing. This was so unexpected and kind that it might have brought a few tears to our eyes.
After lunch we made a trip to the beach at the point of Messina. The water was some of the clearest I've ever seen. The beach was rocky so where water shoes.
This day in Messina was the best day out of our 18 day European vacation. This is a must do for anyone who loves fishing.

What a great experience! This was our favorite excursion that we did on our 10 day mediterranean cruise. Alesia, our tour guide gave us tips about Sicily and what to look for as we toured around Tar Taormina. Which was such a beautiful town that looked over the mediterranean Sea & amazing views of Mt. Etna. Then we took a boat ride where we saw views from the water & had time to swim. It was a great day & I can’t wait to go back!

This tour company was the most amazing company we used on our two week holiday. Sara was an AMAZING tour guide. She is very knowledgeable about her country and the history behind it. One of our tour guest was not comfortable with windy roads and heights. Sara and the driver spoke with her regarding her concerns. We took the windy roads up to Mt Etna at a comfortable pace and Sara even got her to go to the top and got a picture of her. I would give this company a 100 star rating if I could! Thank you again Sara for one of the most memorable days of our trip!

Great tour! Stunning views from both Castelmola and Taormina. Our guide, Claudio, was exceptional. Very knowledgeable and so funny! 10/10 I would definitely recommend Discover Messina!

We did an excursion via Expedia Cruise Centre on NCL Escape stop to Messina Sicily Aug 16 2024 with Discover Messina Sicily. The tour guide Emanuela is wonderful and shows a lot of her love and knowledge to her city.

The tour includes a drive from Messina port to a boat ride around Isola Bella.Area. Beautiful coastline with interesting rocks and caves. Lots of history ,nice hotels and beaches.

We have a dip in the nice Italy water, onboard refreshment of local almond pastry with lemon, orange and pistachio flavour and champagne. Bring a google with you to see the fishes underneath the very clear salt water.

Then we head to Taormina . Very relaxing,, charming and friendly town with lots of shops and restaurants. There 2 hours. Have fresh and tasty Cous Cous Seafood Plate, crepes, gelato at Wauderbar, and some shoppings. A lots of unique items.

After that then head back to port. No time to visit Messina Bell Tower but able to see from port.

Best Excursion so far in Italy. Also no pressure for tipping at all. The tour guide, driver, and captain of the boat ride are all very pleasant and like to show Sicily to you so you can unwind and enjoy the place.

I Highly recommend Discover Messina. We arrived on a cruise ship to Messina and had the best shore excursion to Taormina! We did the blue grotto tour by boat and then explored the lovely town and Greek theatre.

Fantastic tour! We toured with Roberto and had a five year old, 15 year old, and my husband’s two parents who do struggle with walking long distances. Roberto was very patient and accommodating. Messina was one of our favorite port stops! Such a beautiful and interesting city!

Our tour guide (Guiliana) was amazing! She was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We enjoyed our day with her. Our driver (Andrea) was amazing as well. He interacted well with Guiliana and together they ensured that we had an enjoyable tour in a nice vehicle.

Above all though, the communication from “Discover Messina” was outstanding. Of all of the excursions that we took during our 10-day cruise of Italy & Greece, their communication was the best. Our cruise port was changed from Messina to Catania and they informed me that they simply pick us up there instead. This information came 6 hours BEFORE the ship officially informed us of the port change!

Wonderful outing today! Claudia is a kind and informative guide. The winery served a delicious lunch and excellent wine tastings. We enjoyed the calm and quiet of the Sicilian countryside after a few port days in busy towns. We will be back!

100% recommend Discover Messina! They were an amazing company to work with from start to finish - professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible. Sara was the perfect host to her beautiful island - after one day together we felt like we were old family friends. We chose the hike and snorkel tour, and if you want to get away from crowds and other tourists this is the adventure for you! The Milazzo Cape was stunning and isolated; the guides were skilled yet patient with our children; and Sara perfectly organized the day to allow time on the water, on the land along the coast, and in the town. We visited the island on a cruise stop and everyone was very conscientious of our time and insuring we were back to the ship on time. Now we just want to come back and spend an entire week with Sara showing us everything else her beautiful island has to offer! (And more arancini, please!)

My family was on a cruise and some of us were very interested in fishing. We found this tour and we were not sure what to expect. What we ended up with so far exceeded our expectations that I don’t think I can fully state how amazing this day was. First off we had a traditional breakfast served in Messina and the most amazing authentic lunch that is hard to put into words how good the food was. We went on a swordfishing boat and saw these guys catch 3 swordfish. Which was the highlight of the day(you would think) but the highlight was Sara Lisciotto. She took such great care of us. She answered all of our questions she explained things so well. She showed us her town of Messina which she clearly loves. My only regret that day was getting back on our cruise ship. Messina is one of the most beautiful towns I’ve ever seen and to be able to see it through Sara’s eyes was truly amazing. This was the highlight of our trip!!! If you are interested in fishing and seeing this beautiful area of Sicily don’t hesitate to book a tour with them and hope you get as lucky as we did to meet and spend the day with sara!!!!

We did the Mt. Etna and Alcantara gorge tour with Sara Lisciotto. We were so happy we did because we avoided the city crowds and the heat. Sara is very passionate and knowledgeable about her island of Sicily. She provides unique tours. If you are looking for a tour that is unique, please check out their tours.

Katia is a very informative, fun loving , well known , talkative tour guide. Giuseppe was a very careful driver. Godfather tour should be on everyone’s bucket list if you visit Messina

Great tour experience with one of the best guides so far! Julia did a tremendous job and was very knowledgeable with all parts of our tour. The pizza recommendation from her was fabulous! Highly recommend!

Sara & giocomo are STELLAR. We had so much fun hiking mount aetna, eating the BEST canollis I've ever had, and seeing some of the most beautiful scenery with really incredible company. We saw the north side of Aetna & the 2002 craters & the alcantara river for lunch. So beautiful, so much fun, & the guides were just the right amount of content. 6/10 physical fitness level I would estimate as Aetna is of course up hill about 3.25 miles round trip total. Enjoyed every minute of it and will be back to explore more with Sara & giocomo. 10/10 would recommend this excursion!!!

We chose the Sicily Street Food Tour! Roberto our tour guide was outstanding! Fun personality with lots of knowledge and even got to know us on a personal level! Taught us some Italian words and we taught him our American lingo! Hit everything we wanted to do including historical monuments, even from the delay of other group members who had struggle walking. A great outstanding tour! Thank you Roberto!

We took the walking tour of Messina in March. Our guide Sara, spoke excellent English as she showed us her city, pointing out the important monuments and sights and their history and significance. We especially enjoyed seeing the church that was at the original level before the earthquake in 1908 and the clock tower. Sara chose our group an excellent spot to view the largest astronomical clock in the world and explained what were going to see. It was amazing. The tour ended with a delicious gelato.
We were delighted to find that Discover Messina offers many tours of the surrounding area also and especially that they offer a genealogy component. My husband's grandfather was born in Messina and later emigrated to the U.S. Sara was actually able to locate him! The owner and staff of this agency are not only extremely knowledgeable, but are also very kind. We totally recommend Discover Messina for your travels in Messina and around the island of Sicily.

If you go to Messina, which is an amazing city, you have to do this tour!! We just did it. It was the highlight of the 14 day Sicily trip. We saw things we never imagined to see. My father was born in Messina so this was the reason we went to Messina
We traveled all over Sicily & saved Messina for last. We stayed in central Messina & thought that’s all there was, city. Boy were we surprised!! Mariarita & Andre were beyond words. Took us to wonderful places, straits of Messina, beaches, north Messina, lake,Dinamare ,took us for gelato, lunch @ a place down from Dinamare where the sandwich was made from this incredible focaccia bread. I could go on & on, you have to set up a tour w/ them.

Our day in Sicily was my favorite day on our 10 day Mediterranean cruise. Peppe’s love for Sicily was infectious and his care for his guests insured that everyone had a wonderful time. Strolling the streets of beautiful Taormina followed by a boat tour and then swimming in the Mediterranean made for a perfect day. I highly recommend this tour!

The tour guide Sara was an amazing and knowledgeable ambassador of the region. She pointed out all the highlights along our journey to Taormina and gave us the history of the various sites. The tour was well paced with the right amount of personal time to try local food fare including the delicious arancini and cannoli. Truly amazing. The tour also included the Greek theatre and stop at Castelmola. Both were great additions. This tour was great value for money!
