È una porzione residua della cinta muraria spagnola del 1570, altrimenti conosciuta come Mura di Carlo V, erette o riadattate nel XVI secolo per difendere la città di Messina dal pericolo turco. Le Mura qui occupano un angolo nascosto dello spazio pubblico noto come piazza San Vincenzo. Sono in effetti nascoste da una costruzione prospiciente ma restano comunque visibili. Sopra la porzione di muro sono residue alcune abitazioni di origine ottocentesca, in seguito parzialmente ricostruite.
