We had a spectacular stay at PdP. It is a beautiful property - stunning views and gorgeous gardens. The olive oil tasting was great and educational. Their oils and wines are delicious. Alessandro and Claudia are gracious hosts.

What a delightful morning my husband and I spent today with Alessandro and Claudia on their incredible farm just outside of Todi! I searched many offerings for olive oil tastings while planning our trip to Umbria and decided on Passo della Palomba because their descriptions were so thorough and enticing. At first they didn’t show any availability online for the day we needed, but I emailed and they quickly were able to open up a spot. We expected to taste a few olive oils, and have a good time, but what we got was a master class in olive orchard farming, olive oil production, tasting and testing from an expert at his craft. It was the highlight of our trip and an experience we will take with us back to the States with a new appreciation for quality olive oils. I don’t often write reviews but do yourself a favor and spend a few hours with Sandro and Claudia at Frantoio Passo della Palomba laughing and learning!

Alessandro is so kind and so knowledgeable! He hosted us the day after we called to inquire about Olive Oil Tasting, when he heard that we were just here for a very short visit. He and his wife Claudia prepared great fresh food to show us how high quality olive oil would add so much more flavor and pleasure to almost any food (spoiler alert- ice cream included!). He taught us all the techniques to identify true high quality olive oil, which is the secret to stay healthy and forever young. That “wow” effect when you learn how to test taste olive oil properly was sensational and you have to be there to experience the amazing pleasure learning from Alessandro how to smell and taste their olive oil. They produce the most beautiful wine as well and gifted me the wine as part of the experience. My girls and I learned so much about the forever young olive trees and the blessings to human beings to stay young and healthy. Their dogs are so lovely, so are all the stories Alessandro tells in addition to the techniques he teaches. It’s a must-do for any Umbria visitors! We had so much fun and would love to come back in the future. Note that they host AirBNB on their premise as well. That’s where we will be staying when we visit again!

This was one of the most interesting and inspiring experience we’ve ever had with regards to olive oil. Sandro & Claudia are great hosts and the olive oils and wines are amazing. Probably we will be back next year with some friends.

While in Umbria, we wanted to buy quality olive oil and stumbled on a place, where owner is an experienced oil somelier and taster! He gave us extensive training and educational experience, followed by olive oil testing and tasting. It was AMAZING and is must for anyone interested in Olive oil!

It was new for me, that first you do tasting of oil on its own and then taste it paired with selected small bites - salad, bread, capres salad, desserts. They also produce wines, white wine offered for tasting was really great! You can buy their products onsite and online, which they will ship fast!

We came with a small dog, which was welcomed and also greeted by four-legged hosts Mrs Peggy and Mr Bobby.

The Olive Oil Experience was exceptional. Family came to visit and chose this and my husband and I being locals were not excited to go until we drove into the place. IT IS BEAUTIFUL, picture perfect and Claudia and Alessandro were terrific hosts, but the best part was the educational part. You will walk out with an understanding of what "High Quality" oil is and continue to be able to identify it no matter where you are. It was fantastic and very, very ,inexpensive. They are truly masters. We really walked away with gold!

My family of 9 and I were attending a wedding in Todi Italy and looking for an olive oil/wine experience nearby. I came across Passo della Palomba and contacted Alessandro and his lovely wife Claudia. Our time was short and our schedule was a bit complicated, but they accommodated us in everyway possible. In hindsight, we ALL truly wished we had more time to spend there. As part of our experience, we rode our bikes to this beautiful property and Alessandro actually came the day before to help us map out the best way to ride. We have all been to wineries before, but Alessandro's passion for his wine, olive oil and chocolate came through loud and clear. We went out to lunch the next day and tried the technique we were taught about assessing good olive oil and the owner saw us, ran into the kitchen and came back with a different "special" olive oil and basket of bread for us to try. Clearly we were doing it right! This tour is more than the normal cookie cutter event and I highly recommend it if you want a truly delightful experience.

My family visited and stayed at Passo della Palomba when we celebrated my father’s 60th birthday. We enjoyed the beautiful view from the house, which is charmingly surrounded by olive groves. Sandro and Claudia took great care of us; we especially appreciated the olive oil tasting as well as Sandro’s stories and enthusiasm. Would love to visit Passo della Palomba again!

What an extraordinary experience! We visited a 400 year old olive tree growing next to healthy bunches of lavender. The bees were happily buzzing around. Our small group tasted olive oil, alongside tasty snacks and learned that olive trees can live forever!

They shared a very intricate and informative presentation in regards to the identification of olive oil within the market place and the fundamentals behind it. We began with an amazing walk through of the conditioning during harvest of olive trees, a brief history and background of what it's used for, a look at the manufacturing process, etc. Once we reached the inside for the presentation, we were provided a plastic tray detailing each phase, along with several demonstrations of taste testing to get the ideas of olive oil. The science behind it was very understandable too, with analogies provided for those who aren't professionals or children.

This is a must for anyone visiting Italy! The property is incredible and our tasting with Sandro and Claudia was such a hit, even with our small children! The tasting started by understanding the process from harvesting the olives to how olive oil is made. The hospitality was top notch and the pairings with local food brought all the flavors out in a very nice way. His passion and knowledge are very impressive and we are so grateful for the opportunity to learn from him.

The entire experience was an absolute dream! Only downside is that we will never be able to buy olive oil in the US again after tasting theirs! ;) Grazie mille!

Stunning scenery, beautiful environment and property, and amazing services. We spent a charming afternoon tasting amazing olive oils and wines with Alessandro, who shared his detailed knowledge in an understandable way, so that even our kids enjoyed the experience. We also thank his wife Claudia for her kind assistance, the oils tasted even better on her warm bread. We came away with a trunk full of olive oil and wine and we were all in a far better mood then when we arrived.

Visiting Passo della Palomba for an olive oil tasting is an amazing educational experience and was a highlight of our recent trip to Umbria. We took friends this time for our 2nd visit and even the 5 teenage boys traveling with us were engaged! Alessandro is passionate about olive oil and his care and attention to quality shows in his engagement with his guests and the final product. I've been ordering and enjoying their oil since our first visit in 2021. The EVOO dark chocolate is also amazing and they produce some terrific wine as well!

We absolutely loved our visit to Passo della Palomba today and especially meeting with Alessandro & Claudia. We learnt so much about olive oil and seriously enjoyed how much there was to know and understand about the growing, harvesting and use of this special drop. We can’t wait to visit again next year. Such a beautiful part of the world. 🇮🇹🙏🏻

It was not just an olive oil tasting, it was like getting full picture of the world of olive oil in most beautiful setting from the master himself, whose main aim is for you to know what a real olive oil should taste like and how it is produced. This changes your world view about olive oils forever. If you have a chance, book your visit (pre-booking is required), would suggest it even if you have to drive from Rome. Thank you so much, Claudia and Sandro, it was the highlight of our trip to Italy for me.
